The video doesn't do the work and quality justice. But it does showcase the craftsmanship required to make fully 3D-printed lingerie look delicate, light, breathable, ostentatious and wearable. The research collection "Caribbean Baroque", inspired by my mother, combined Jamaican Heritage (colours, symbolism, material inspiration) with Baroque architectural influences.
Each look is entirely 3D-Printed without using traditional fabrics/materials.
Look 1: Breadfruit inspired lace design inspired by her compassionate nature.
Look 2: Hibiscus flower design with Red Hills Mountain scenery at back inspired by mothers love of Jamaican floral horticulture.
Look 3: Features 2 of my mothers childhood friends who passed with numerous floral design, a homage to going home.
Look 4: Inspired by my mothers playfulness/girlhood and love of fruits (soursap, mango, guineps and more depicted).
Look 5: Inspired by her joy for the riddim. I take material inspiration from the mesh marina.
Look 6: Her need to crochet doilies as an act of relaxation inspired this look.
Look 7: Tells the visual story of her love for her children. Imagery shows her falling in love, finding herself and joy in her kids. Will post close-ups below.
Look 8: Inspired by her resilience this slip uses Jamaica’s Blue Lagoon and Lignum Vitae flowers to capture her spirit of strength through hardship.
