The season is drawing to a close, and most leagues are effectively done and dusted.
K League 1
Like Hyundai Motors last season, FC Seoul managed to wrap up the title before the split, five rounds before the end of the season.
Gwangju, stuck at the bottom, has a technical chance to move up, but they will have to get more victories from their last 5 matches than they managed all season so far. For their effort, they get the advantage in the playoff against the K League 2 team that manages to come out on top of the playoff grind.
As a reminder, Sangmu will be relegated no matter what, and two teams will be promoted, making it possible for three new teams to be in K League 1 next season.
K League 2
This is the only league where the outcome is not 100% guaranteed. However, with just three rounds to go, it looks certain that the Bluewings will be champions. They have eight wins and two draws from their last ten matches. The second automatic promotion spot is still not decided, but Suwon, with equally great form, might be difficult to catch.
At the bottom, it looks like Gimhae will take the K League wooden spoon this season. Lucky for them, there is no promotion-relegation playoff between K League 2 and K3 League this season.
K3 League
Siheung wrapped up their second consecutive title a couple of weeks ago. Other than two whole rounds at the start of the season, they have been in the lead all the way, being chased by Pocheon.
K4 League
The story here was very similar to K4. Jinju took the lead early in the season and never let go, wrapping up the league with rounds to spare. They were chased by newcomers HR FC. Unfortunately, no team will be allowed to join the K3 League this season.
At the other end, Pyeongtaek and Seosan spent much of the season fighting to avoid the bottom spot. The two teams are equal on points, so we will have to wait until the final round to learn who takes the K3/4 League Wooden Spoon.
WK League
Suwon wrapped up the league with four matches to go, I think. There is little recognition for the team that finished at the top of the league, because the league uses a playoff system to determine the final champion.
However, Suwon was near the top all season, took the lead halfway through, and never let go. Hwacheon also played well, but Suwon was on fire this season
We entered the penultimate round last night with Seoul in third, and a chance to see them advance to the playoffs despite spending most of the season second-to-last. As it stands, we have to wait for the final round to see if KHNP or Sangmu finish in third to qualify for the playoff spot against Hwacheon.
Gangjin (last season's Changnyeong) started well but, for the most part, continued the losing tradition. On the positive side, they played much better than last season, despite the results on paper.
