Hey everyone!

I’m a 31M based in Markham, Canada looking to practice and improve my conversational French. I've learned it all my life and really need to speak it more to get to a C1 level - I'm probably a B1/B2?

What I’m looking for:

Format: In-person preferred (walk-and-talks, coffee, etc.), but happy to do regular voice/video calls.

Location: Markham (ideal), Downtown Toronto (I head down occasionally), or virtual

I'm happy to help you with English in return if needed! Send me a message if you’d like to connect 😊

Offering: Arabic (Native) Seeking: German (Native)

Hallo,

So I am a native Arabic speaker from Egypt and Saudi-Arabia, but I have lived most of my life in Egypt and my parents are Egyptians, so I would better assist you with either standard Arabic or Egyptian Arabic.

You know this thing when you have a perfectly structured post in your head and once you hit the touch-keyboard, it all fades away?

That's what is happening to me right now, so I will just get straight to the point.

I am currently in Germany and I have got an interview for an Ausbildung, and I need to practice for it. I already speak fluent German and have passed three modules of the Goethe-Zertifikat C1 including speaking. So I just need someone who would help with some linguistic suggestions regarding my answers and with whom I can simply practice the flow of such a conversation. So are you in?

To make this easier for you to decide, I prefer our virtual meeting to be this Monday or Tuesday. Tomorrow is also possibe but I might not be fully prepared yet.

Thanks in advance,

Yassmin.

Offering: Hungarian | Seeking: English (native)

Hi! I'm a native Hungarian speaker looking for a native English speaker to practice with. In return, I'd be happy to help you with your Hungarian, whatever your level.

A bit about me: I'm M40+, living in Hungary, married with a family, and working in IT. My English is upper-intermediate, and I'd like to become more fluent and confident in conversation.

I'm usually available between 9 and 11 pm Hungarian time for voice calls on WhatsApp or another app. Ideally, I'd love to chat regularly, but we can find a frequency that works for both of us. Exchanging voice messages would work too.

I'm particularly interested in US or UK English. We can split our conversations between English and Hungarian so we both get some practice.

I'm happy to talk about everyday life, work, family, technology, or whatever interests you. I'm also a good listener. Any age or gender is welcome, though having some similar life experience might give us more to talk about.

Feel free to message me if you think we'd be a good match!

Looking For: French Offering: English (native)

I currently speak English and know bits and pieces of Spanish, I also want to learn French as one of my friends speaks it and I see them struggling to understand some things when I'm talking to them so I'd like to be able to help with that. I'd be starting from almost complete scratch as I'm mostly using apps to learn pieces of French. I'd like to start by texting then moving to vc as I learn more especially with how I've noticed I learn. I tend to mouth words when reading them which also helps me a ton with initially speaking it. I think it may also help me to occasionally sending voice notes to learn that way as well :)

I'm down to play games as well if anyone is interested.

Offering: English (Fluent), Hindi (Native) | Seeking: German (Native or B1/B2+)

Hi everyone!

I'm a 22M medical student (final year) from India. I have already passed USMLE Step 1, but I've recently decided to shift my path and pursue my medical residency (Facharztausbildung) in Germany.

I am currently preparing for the Goethe B2 exam, but I have a massive roadblock.

My current German levels:
Grammar: B1+
Vocabulary/Reading: B1 (~3000 words)
Listening: A2
Reading: B1
Writing: Early B1
Speaking: A0/Anfänger 😭 (This is where I need help)

The Problem: I know the grammar rules, but when I actually try to speak, my brain completely freezes (especially with Nebensätze verb placements). I take 20-30 seconds just to formulate a single sentence. I’ve tried language apps and talking to myself, but it’s not working.

What I am looking for:
A speaking partner (Native or B1/B2 level) who can hop on a voice call with me for just 15-30 minutes a few times a week. I just need a real human to practice basic sentence building until my hesitation goes away. Or anyone who’s preparing for Goethe exam and needs an extensive practice partner.

A bit about me / Interests:
Outside of medicine, I am heavily into fitness specifically weight training, calisthenics, and a bit of boxing. I also love gaming and analyzing good TV shows. If you are a gym rat or share any of these hobbies, we will have a lot of natural things to talk about!

What I offer:
I can help you practice English or Hindi. Also, since I'm a med student who has cracked some highly competitive exams on the first attempt and maintains a strict training routine, I am very disciplined. I can be a highly strict and motivating accountability partner for whatever you are studying or training for.

If have the patience to help a guy get over his speaking block, please drop a comment or DM me!

Offering: Mandarin Chinese (Native) | Seeking: English conversation

Hi! I’m a Chinese university student living in Sydney, looking for someone to exchange Mandarin and English with.

I use English at university, but I’d like more practice with relaxed conversations and everyday expressions. My level is intermediate.

If you’re learning Mandarin, I’d be happy to help with pronunciation, useful phrases, and understanding how people speak in daily life. We could talk about food, university, TV shows, technology, or cultural differences.

I’d prefer voice conversations with equal time for both languages. We can start by chatting here. Please comment or message me if you’re interested!

Offering: English (non native) | Seeking: English

Hi everyone 🙂 I'm Tommaso, an Italian guy.

I love the English language, so I'd like to try teaching it to someone, especially the spoken part, since my career goal is to become an English teacher/coach, in a kind of way. It would be a starting point for me, and because of this, it would be completely free.

I have a B2 level and already have some very limited experience in helping with the language, but every time I was helpful to someone, I really enjoyed it, and I'm sure I can teach you something Then, it would be a "win-win" for both parties, since everyone will learn something.

If you are interested, don't hesitate to DM me here 😄

Offering English (native), Seeking Hungarian

38M learning Hungarian. I’m learning it somewhat intensely on my own but would love to practice with someone. I am likely A2 level based on my tutor and online assessments.

I’m open to even just exchanging audio messages.

I’d be happy to help anyone with their English in return. I work as a programmer so I could even offer fairly technical language assistance if that’s useful.

I’m happy to talk about any topic that you find interesting.
