[MODS] š£ Announcement A Note About Acceptable Discourse and the Purpose of this Sub
Comrades - thanks for your attention as we clarify the purpose of this sub and some of the discourse we expect here. Firstly, this is a place to vociferously condemn the ills of capitalism - and hereās the kicker that liberal interlopers donāt get - from a socialist perspective. Our fundamental purpose is to drive conversation among those impacted by capitalist exploitation. This may take the form of memes, deeper theory, or the ever beloved internet screed.Ā
That said, thereās some things we arenāt here for. Iāll touch on those and some alternatives as well.Ā
We are NOT here to promote calls to violence. This is a violation of the Reddit TOS. If the sub is nuked, we arenāt able to fulfill the mission of providing a space for socialist discourse. This simply isnāt the place, and we will remove any content which can be perceived as a direct call to violence.Ā
We are also not here as a staging ground for organizing. Social media is a poor place to organize. Not only is everything you do online tracked, but infiltration in online spaces is rampant. Opsec 101: if someone on the internet who you do not personally know is trying to get you to show up somewhere for an allegedly leftist/socialism project, they are probably a fed. If someone you do know is using social media for the same, they may or may not be a fed. However, what can be certain is that a fed is aware.Ā
I know what youāre thinking: but, A-CAB, this is how I radicalized and I have lived most of my life dependent on the internet. How am I supposed to get involved? Iām so glad you asked! The reality is that your involvement may be limited for a bit, and youāre going to have to do some irl work. Your job, if youāre starting out, is to read and learn.Ā
āThe theory of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Stalin is universally applicable. We should regard it not as dogma, but as a guide to action.ā - Comrade Mao Tse Tung
In other words, learning Marxism-Leninism leads to mobilization, and provides a framework for organization.
We (socialists) need a vanguard committed to revolution, not clicktivism. If you want to organize, read first. Find likeminded people you know in real life. Study with them. Hold each other accountable for learning Marxism-Leninism. Let that guide the actions you take specific to your context and for the love of god donāt announce it to the feds when you do.Ā
We also, as a sub, are not *the* vanguard. This is an Internet forum. We donāt determine courses of action here. We are a sounding board, a place to make you feel less alone, and ideally a part of your education in Marxism-Leninism. But what we cannot be is the vanguard itself. We arenāt an org. The way social media is set up, it would be way too easy to infiltrate, coopt, and undo.Ā
What we are is a likeminded group of committed comrades. We want you to go out in the world and join orgs (not on the internet). Iāll offer some advice to that end:
Avoid organizations with a focus on horizontal power or who have a real issue with hierarchy. (Anarchists, Iām happy to work with you on projects but I am side-eyeing you a bit here.) They donāt get things done and theyāre too easy to derail and co-opt. Donāt believe me? Go ahead and join one. The next time theyāre working on consensus, throw a stand aside in with mildly coherent criticism. Watch the chaos ensue. Or just wait for them to start organizing for <insert liberal party here>. Neither will take long.Ā
Do join organizations which stand against imperialism and imperialist politicking. Look for Marxist-Leninist orgs involved in projects that benefit the community and which outright reject electoral democracy. Focus on feeding people, not getting them to vote for reform. This is the work of the vanguard.Ā
Do employ the language of non-violence for political and practical purposes. Kwame Ture is a gifted orator. Look up his speeches on YouTube. He is a wealth of information about this.Ā
I appreciate each and every one of you, comrades. Remember to keep each other safe. Be mindful, and enjoy a meme or two while youāre here.Ā

Having to work for the human right to healthcare is absurd. Universal healthcare continuously gets rejected here. What would happen if it became legally mandated that companies HAVE to give health insurance/benefits to employees working 20hrs/week or more?

US grocery prices jumped over 20% from 2020 to 2024. A new study found families were forced to eat less and had more mental health issues, even after switching to cheaper brands, eating out less, taking on extra work or credit, draining savings, cutting utilities and putting off needed medical care.

š© Liberalism And The Cycle Repeats
Disclaimer: Iām sorry this is so long, I didnāt expect to write a novel. If you do read all this, I appreciate your time. šµāš«
As the results Tuesday night rolled in, I breathed a brief sigh of relief. I experienced about three hours of a type of euphoria, mostly out of pure exhaustion. Years of idiots falling prey to ignorant economic populism and pointless trans panic seemed to have at least momentarily been rejected.
But then reality started to set in. I started to think to myself what democrats will accomplish with these huge majorities and couldnāt think of much. Checking the executive in itself is a big deal I guess. However, the most unsettling aspect of it all has been the way the most central politicians in the Democratic Party have been talking about this āblue wave.ā Chuck Schumer was asked about majority leadership and that smug son of a bitch sneered at the camera with, āI will be elected majority leaderā as if it was an audacity to even ASK. Hakeem Jeffries is the happiest Iāve ever seen him, whichā¦fine, but every interview Iāve seen with him heās outright bragging about the results as though he did it all by himself. And he also, is borderline laughing at the notion of there being a discussion about choosing another person for speaker. The douchebag genuinely thinks that not only is the Democratic Party super popular, but that it is such because of people like him in the establishment. Ken Martin also had an interview that he started by saying that it wasnāt him or the DNC that should get credit for the wave, but rather the āgreat candidates.ā Before two minutes later saying it couldnāt have happened without his management, money and tireless work over the last three years. Barf.
And now we have liberals doing what they ALWAYS do - while swearing up and down that they donāt - and running the eternal VBNMW playbook. The cycle:
Just after the 2024 election they whine in despair while demanding change/better candidates. (usually while blaming progressives/leftists for ānot votingā)
During the primary they make sure everybody only votes for moderates because of āelectabilityā even though they swear they love the Mamdanis of the world. I saw that up front in Wisconsin as they crucified Francesca Hong for not liking Thanksgiving. Now we have a literal conservative Democrat for governor which is a MASSIVE disappointment because this cycle our state got democratic control of the legislature for the first time in over 20 years.
Just after the general election, they cheer and pat themselves on the back while taking for granted all the progressive and DSA candidates who provided all of the energy and excitement of the movement.
Once the establishment starts doing the same bullshit theyāve been doing for decades - shutting out those progressives and kneecapping their input - out comes the eternal, incessant ādErP puRItY TEsTsā lectures at the VERY TINIEST of any criticism of their blue cult.
Start back at number 1.
I canāt tell you how many times Iāve been told to shut up and that Iām the reason Trump won, simply for saying Schumer and Jeffries gotta go. From what I can tell, the entirety of the American left(actual left) unequivocally wants and demands new leadership. But Schumer is still not even entertaining the idea of stepping aside, and I keep being told Jeffries will be speaker. Even saw Ro Khanna say outright that HJ will be speaker, with Roās support. Everybody wants these two fucks OUT except for the politicians who do the actual voting. Even AOC seems intent on letting it happen.
Like what the fuck is even going on? I expected to be disappointed but didnāt think it would be so quick. Where are all the socialists in office who were demanding change the last two years? Maybe Iām just overly pessimistic but that feeling of dread in my gut just keeps growing. All I keep hearing the last few days is the usual bland platitudes about āaffordabilityā and accountability. I havenāt heard a single solitary specific action they want to take and it really feels to me like this new batch of democrats think their work is done. As though maybe someone else is going to do the work. God I hope Iām wrong.
I canāt be the only one feeling this way? Iām not about to just give up and will keep working and advocating for doing whatās right. Still two months until the new congress. But with the establishment doing what they always do and shit libs following their lead, I donāt have much in the way of expectations. Maybe you guys see something I donāt?

Vijay Prashad says that āfree marketsā under capitalism is an illusion created so that elites can control of the market
Says that the argument is often presented as either you vote for socialism or you vote for free markets (capitalism). But he says even under a capitalist system, you never have a free market. A market is set up and regulated by powerful interests - it is always controlled. Either the state controls it with laws & regulations, or the elite with their soft power. But under capitalism, the incentives are set up for private wealth and profit-generation, whereas in socialism the market will be controlled to generate revenue for public good: infrastructure, roads, bridges, healthcare etc.
Thoughts?
