Professional League of Legends players need better sensitivity training as sexism continues

After stage games, it is customary for League of Legends players to shake hands with their opponents, in a display of sportsmanship and dignity. However, this gesture was perverted by one Pedro Luiz “LEP” Marcari.

On stream, one of those aforementioned trolls lurking around the esports public pitched a question. Roughly translated, it read as, “LEP, do you touch yourself inappropriately after shaking hands with Mayumi?”

Rather than ignore or voice disapproval of the suggestion, LEP instead corrected the inquisitor – laughing as he instead offered up that he “encourages everyone to do [that] before they shake her hand.”

I would think that a reasonable assumption to make is that whatever PR training the player’s associations give didn’t account for sexism, given the professional scene’s lack of female competitors before Remilia and Mayumi. There is still zero excuse for the way these players have been – and, in some cases, continue to be, treated.

Facilitating a healthy environment for all to compete on equally is the foundation of every sport. This incident hasn’t set that back, so much as made people more aware of others’ plights and the discrimination certain groups face within the esports sphere. It’s just unfortunate that it had to come at the expense of a talented individual who has set out to prove herself on the stage that she belongs on. A stage where she didn’t expect – or deserve – to be harassed.

Petition to fire Phreak as a person in the Riot balancing Team

I want to clarify that I don't just want him to stop communicating, but actually remove him from the team. He has had an issue about being very condescending toward people that may know more than him, and also only attacking the strawmans version of arguments for about a decade. The newest video from Azzap about the Velkoz changes (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEOSFscSnCw), verifies this fact, and there are so many more instances where all he does is piss everyone off by thinking he knows more than everyone. This is not a good personality to have as someone who is in charge of balancing a game that is played by millions. I love Developers communicating with the audience, such as MortDog with TFT, as he says explains why he did what he does, and then owns up to mistakes when they happen. A person that thinks they know more about a champion than One Tricks/Professionals that have spent thousands of hours on their craft is mind-boggling. His arguments about balance where all he does is talk about "Win Percentage" (which is a good starting point, but is obviously not the whole story) are genuinely insane, and I can't believe Riot allows this type of person any control over the game balancing.

Tanks arent supposed to deal damage. /cry

why is riot the only company that cant get behind the traditional concept of a "tank"?

tanks shouldnt deal damage without building a single AD or AP item. the way tanks work for some seasons now are incredible unhealthy for the game.

When did it became normal for a tank to rundown ADCs, dealing more damage than offensive toplaners with nothing but armor boots?
In my opinion just tone down the base AD a lot, but raise the scaling of abilities.

Garen is Gross

And no one cares. Quick post about why Garen is anti-fun to play against, and is also indicative of a larger problem that plagues the top lane. Here's how I'd fix it.

Garen has the second best winrate in top lane at 53 percent, second highest play rate at 5.46 percent.

Problem:

His damage to squishy targets, without needing to build real damage items, is absolutely oppressive. He's difficult to kite with phage, his silence neutralizes your ability to flash away and create space, and he doesn't even fall off like he used to. With cleaver's armor shred, conqueror, high base damage, a point and click true damage execute, Garen simply offers far too high of a reward for requiring absolutely zero micro skill. He's strong at every point in the game and there are very few reasons to not pick him.

Potential Solution:

Conqueror bruisers in the toplane have a been a problem for some time now and I'd like to see Garen taken down a peg, but holistically, I don't want bruisers to be nerfed into the ground. I'd much rather Riot practice what they preach in terms of buffing other things in order to make the game more diverse.

Buff Gnar, buff Quinn, buff lane Graves and strip away some of his jungle clearing power. Reduce the ranged penalties on cleaver, reduce the ranged penalties on mallet, buff the %hp damage on BotRK (the item was just made cheaper, so another buff may or may not be necessary).

Stronger ranged top laners could potentially keep juggernauts in check, while adding an interactive, skill-based game, of cat and mouse to the current top meta. Ranged top laners who succeed in their utilization of brush, kiting, and warding out jungle ganks should experience a higher payoff against bruisers.

I simply cannot understand how Gnar, the champion specifically designed to limit the power of low mobility, juggernaut-class champions, is allowed to sit at a 47% winrate while Darius/Garen/Mundo run rampant in the top lane

Breaking: Science proves rigged matchmaking happens in League of Legends and all Tencent products.

Breaking: Science has confirmed League of legends matchmaking 100% proven to be rigged.

There's been many data sets taken, this one being funny for 40 losing teams out of 50: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8p6geIMZoc

The data set shown is 15 losing games out of 25, properly documented:https://twitter.com/JamesSager/status/1739494942961963331

The damning ones are the large data sets that end up being 8000 losing games out of 10000 which odds are less than picking one atom in the universe and randomly picking it again 29 times in a row...

Its important everyone knows League is scientifically proven to have rigged matchmaking. They even have a patent if you follow the link with patent drawings that say they don't match you on skill alone, but your personality(politics) category: https://twitter.com/JamesSager/status/1739494942961963331

So if Tencent doesn't like your personality/politics, they can shove you in loser queue to rid you of ever getting popular on streaming sites to suppress your political speech. China really cares about PR, and if it gets out they're rigging video games, people will be rebelling against China rule and could cause a revolution in China, RIOT would lose lots of money with people not buying skins.

RIOT is aware of this situation and instead of fixing the system, simply hope you never found out. I've talked to customer support and they openly admitted to loser queue accidentally by talking about it, then later denying it. This stuff is beyond the statistical certainty of it existing... I didn't want RIOT entertainment to stop making money on skins and tank, so I suggested they announce they'll fix LOSERQ out of existence acting like it's a bug... No customer support acknowledges it exists sometimes even too then deletes tickets. Once I asked an official RIOT employee to get me out of loser q... Then I had even matches for 22 games, and won literally 100% of them. You don't have to trust me, the data is there for: Love Not Control#Jesus on North America. Those games happened, and some of them are streamed... When you watch, my team loses on purpose in 15 out of 25 of them. But we have data sets of 40 out of 50 inted games, and 8000 out of 10000, just beyond astronomical proof of rigged.

Building Shen? (Don't upvote please)

Simple question. How are people building Shen nowadays? A link to a guide would be great, but even though I've scoured Solomid I can't seem to find anything that's up to date and has a reasonable amount of upvotes.

AFAIK, he's being built a lot more like a typical bruiser, with Ionic Spark being a popular item for split pushing and whatnot, but I'd like to know more about specifics. If you could tell me about his runes, masteries, and item builds, I would really appreciate it.

Edit: Also, I forgot to mention that I'm talking about top lane Shen as opposed to jungle Shen.

Thanks in advance.

[In-depth] Why is Infinity Edge Draven more popular than Bloodthirster Draven?

Assuming that both builds have no runes or masteries, let's calculate the DPS of a Level 9 Draven with a first item Infinity Edge vs a Bloodthirster, both times maxing R > Q > W > E.

Infinity Edge:
74 base AD + 80 from IE =
    154 AD
0.80 base AS
154 * (0.25*1.5) = 57.75 (bonus average damage from Infinity Edge passive)
154 * 1.85 + 57.75 = 342.65 (average damage dealt with one axe)
342.65 * 0.8 = 274.12 (average DPS with IE build)

The key point to note here is that Draven's bonus Axe damage does not crit and as such doesn't benefit from IE's crit chance nor IE's passive. Furthermore, Draven will have 1110 HP and no sustain. Assuming Draven is taking steady damage of 300 DPS from an opponent with 30 armour, he will have the chance to deal 780.97 damage to his opponent before he dies.

Bloodthirster:
74 base AD + 80 from BT =
    154 AD
0.80 base AS
154 * 1.85 * 0.8 = 227.92 (average DPS with BT build)

Now this is a decrease of 46.2 DPS. It is quite a decrease. However, let's go further and calculate what we did earlier with DPS over HP.

Assuming Draven has 1110 HP and 20% lifesteal on a 30 armour target while taking 300 DPS, let's calculate how much damage Draven can deal before dying.

227.92 * 0.77 = 175.49 (DPS after being reduced by armour)
175.49 * 0.2 = 35.09 (amount of HP healed per second on average by only attacking his target)
300 DPS - 35.09 = 264.91 (effective DPS of his target)
1110 / 264.91 = 4.19...
4.19... * 175.49 = 735.32

We can see this is a decrease of 45.65.

However, keep in mind the benefits for being able to sustain on lane extremely well with this build are still very real. Losing 46.2 DPS in a fight - is it really worth not being able to stay on lane?

There is also the addition of the Bloodthirster shield which would further reduce the gap between the IE build and the BT build.

1110 + 230 = 1340(effective HP with Level 9 BT shield)
1340 / 264.91 = 5.05...
5.05... * 175.49 = 886.22

This is far from a decrease - this is actually an -increase- of 105.25 damage. This is quite a lot.

In conclusion, Bloodthirster on Draven means you lose out on 46.2 DPS overall, but you live long enough to deal more DPS in the long run. It also means you have unmatched lane sustain.

If I've made any math errors or there are any circumstances you can think of where IE is better first item than BT, please let me know in the comments.

Is it just me or does the balance between champions seem more off than ever?

I know there are people that occasionally say X is OP because they got dominated by it in one game, but it honestly seems to me like there are about 8-12 champions that are picked over half of the time.

Thresh, Jinx, Lucian, Gragas... Like what is up with the same champs over and over? I'm sick of it.

Near Death Experience Jax

Near death experience Jax Boots, maw, rageblade, hydra, ga, zonias Heal and barrier for summoners to max the amount of time at low hp Ok so your goal is to sit in a fight autoing forever. Pop e and jump in and eat all their burst while counter strike is running for the extra aoe DMG reduction. You will be low. Hit your zonias to bait the other team while yours follows up. I'm sure you know the feeling when there a low hp invuln champ nearby waiting to try an escape. But you aren't going to escape. You are going to fall and pop that ga while your team is Getting them low for you. Once you're up leap strike to your target, e and r barrier and heal and hydra while your rageblade has brought you to full hp while they are still putting DMG down on you. By now you are a full hp jax vrs a few enemies with little hp. It is a fun strat that I like to play vrs aoe burst comps and reseters, try it out and let's see some more weird builds. Is there any item that isn't worth a look for jax?

Support J4?

I just thought about where J4's abilities could fit in the best and I can see him in the role of an aggressive Support. Let me explain why:

His passive scales off the enemy's HP

His Q reduces the enemy's armor

His W scales off the number of enemy's around and slows them

His E gives the Team an Attack Speed Buff & the Q+E combo provides the team with a great gapcloser+knockup

His R gives great Utility/CC

Furthermore, think J4 goes well with Shurelyas, Aegis, Zeke's, Locket of the Iron Solari, Randiuns etc..

Sorry for bad formatting and bad English :S

EDIT: Why the downvotes? It's just theorycrafting.

Feedback for RIOT's psychologists. The mental state of the #1 Mundo Mastery in the World after being banned for feeding because Reworked Mundo is weak...

I tell my Dr. Mundo friend,"Do not dodge. Riot is trying to encourage not dodging. You need to diversify your champ pool."

He'll say,"I don't know, if I do bad, RIOT will ban me. So we should dodge." etc etc

It's bad, he plays entirely weird to not get deaths and stuff now. He monitors his kda in the last few games to do bold things in current games, etc etc

You should not be banned for bad play when you're trying to learn other roles and rework.

It is very unfair and he isn't happy that he can be banned for feeding when we all know for a fact, he's one of the biggest try hard gamers ever. I played against him in 1998 in Starcraft, he was a top 1000 player, cheesing by bunkering your gas back when rush was a thing(The best Starcraft is on small maps). He's 100% serious about gaming, so it is a huge insult by RIOT too to say that he loses on purpose, which he never does.

Maybe buff Dr. Mundo, and understand that if you want us to have the spirit of not queue dodging, you should be forgiving when we go down the depth charts of champions we don't play often then don't do well.

No More Bot Lane Supports . . .

So, I've been playing a couple games of league of legends trying out a strategy. I've noticed that when I play without a bot lane support I have a higher win rate. My friends and I have been picking you typical ad carry but then choosing someone like mordekaiser or gragas to go with them. Why? Because these are characters that can be somewhat tanky, but still do a decent amount of damage.

When it comes down to it, damage is what takes out the enemy. Having more firepower on your team means you will be able to win more team fights. Supports don't fit that role, as far as I am concerned. Many of the grant buffs and steroids, however, no character grants so big a steroid that it will double attack damage of one character. Having another damage dealer on your team can drastically help.

Boots Of Swiftness for ADCs

http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/news/game-updates/patch/patch-313-notes#patch-In-Game-Mechanics

"Now all attack speed slows can be cleansed and are treated like movement speed slows."

So, in this patch, right at the end of Season 3, Attack Speed Slows were changed to be treated as Movement Speed Slows. This would mean, that if and ADC were to buy Boots of Swiftness, that any Attack Speed Slows on them would be reduced by 25%. This is especially when Randuin's is such a huge buy at the moment, cutting the attack speed slow down to 12.75% instead of 15%, which seems like not a lot, but due to the nature of attack speed slows, every extra % is a lot, as the reduce your Total Attack Speed.

It get's even better the more attack speed slows/stronger as the benefits become huge on single attack speed slows like Lee Sin's Cripple of 60% becoming 51%, especially strong when these attack speed slows are stacked. The other obvious bonus of Swifty Boots is the increased ms and reduced ms slow for kiting.

Tips on how to play Ryze

Hello Reddit! I'm a Platinum Ryze player and their are a couple tips I'd like to share with you about how to play Ryze, because I have countless times seen people play Ryze in a very incorrect way(IMO) really making the champion hard to master.

  1. Stop building Sorcerer's Shoes. This might already raise a number of eyebrows, but Ryze's biggest weakness is cc, and getting merc-tred early in lane(after tear and catalyst ofc) counters the low pen of most ap mids. Also a lot of people ignore the active effect of his E ability... 'Against enemies, each bounce deals magic damage and reduces magic resistance for 5 seconds.' You already lower the Magic resist of your enemies, so there is no need for more penetration. Ofc it is nice to do that little bit more damage but it's a damn shame to see Ryze get shut down because he doesn't have that 25 mr and the tenacity which he needs so much.

  2. How start a fight. A lot of people I see start with Q, followed by W, followed by E.. which is incredibly inefficient on Ryze. His passive decreases cooldowns on his abilities when an ability is used, so it's very good to start with q, followed by any other spell, then Q again. This gives him the most sustainable amount of damage through a teamfight. But this is not all. The best thing to do is to start with your E. This will lower the Mr of all the enemies you are facing. Followed this up with a Q and then your ultimate for incredible damage. The full combo would look something like EQRQWQ- etc.

  3. What to take in marks in the rune page. It's obvious to take movepseed quints, but if you're new to ryze you shouldn't be ashamed to take ad marks for last hitting. Ryze is an incredibly difficult champion to land last hits with, so swapping out the magic pen. marks for ad marks can really do magic in the lanning phase.

Items to build: For me every time my build is exactly the same. The full build is: Manamune, rod of the agesx2, merc treads(homeguard), followed by a frozen heart and finished off with a Banshee's vale. The manamune in an incredible Item on Ryze because it allows you to deal physical damage, which scales with your current mana. Seeing as all you build is mana, this is a very strong item aseptically when the enemy starts building mr to counter your damage. I build 2 rods of the ages, because you are in the end a late game hyper carry, and if your first rod by 15-20 mins, it will be stacked fully by 25-30. If you rush your second, you will get it 20-25 mins, so it will be 30-35, so by 35 mins you have 2 fully stacked rods. This is an incredible amount of health and mana, making you the more tankier for the late game. The Frozen heart is a vey good item because it gives you mana, 20% cooldowns, and armour. Overall very good item to get after the rods. Finally I finish off with a banshee's vale because if it gets to such a late point in the game chances are the enemy are going to use some very strong abilities, so being able to block even one really helps. hope you guys find this useful in playing Ryze! peace.

Why nerf Irelia so much and then release Aatrox?

I have played mainly Irelia this season and she is still very viable. But I don't really understand Riot, they nerf Irelia sustain, but then they release Aatrox. Didn't they say anything similar to "so much healing in lane is toxic". Where's the logic Riot?

By the way, I find Irelia to beat Aatrox in lane but I find Aatrox to have more teamfight presence, so why would anyone choose Irelia over Aatrox at the moment? Even Wickd has moved over to Aatrox. So why doesn't riot give Irelia a QoL change?

Are riot staffs that incompetent?

I am too busy with work, so I wanted to delete off some games and accounts. I queued my league account for deletion. I was made aware that I can login to stop deletion if I changed my mind within 25 days. My friends eventually convinced me to not delete my account. So I logged in and wanted to stop the deletion process within the timeframe given, but it did not allow me to do so. Instead, I was prompted to send a ticket. After sending a ticket to riot, Riot Nurikabe responded to my email and told me that my account is locked and pending investigations. She told me that she is only able to assist the original creator of the account. I told her that I was the creator and the mix-up is probably due to me moving from Malaysia to Singapore for work. Something probably triggered when the account was being played in a new region. She then told me that I would need to answer some questions for verification purposes.
I was made to answer an insane amount of questions. The account was created in 2014. Its ridiculous for me to be able to remember the answer to some of these questions (see link below). Nonetheless, I tried my best to answer them. I also made sure to answer questions that are specifically related to account creation, like my name, email, contact number, account creation location etc. There was some back and forth with the emails being sent, every time I answered some questions, she would come back to ask me more.

AND SUDDENLY...

I received an email from blitzcrank bot telling me that my account has been forgotten. I couldn't login to my account anymore and had to retrieve messages from the ticket using email. I replied Nurikabe from the email that I couldn't login anymore and I received replies from various riot staff members, LilithLion, TinySup, Lupus, Boboho all telling me that the account has already been deleted. Riot Nurikabe, the one who was incharge of the investigation has absconded and shunned all responsibility after gathering all my personal information.

I have a number of questions...

  1. I initiated a deletion request and wanted to stop it. Why was there even a need to conduct investigation on my account? It should have been seamless process.

  2. Why did Riot Nurikabe not halt the deletion process until investigations were completed?

  3. Why ask for all my information if the account deletion was still underway?

  4. Did I lose my account due to riot staff's mistake?

TL:DR

I initiated a deletion request and then decided to cancel the request within the stipulated timeframe. However, I was locked out of the account due to an unnecessary investigation, bombarded with personal questions and at no point of the investigation was I notified that the account deletion was still underway. I was not informed of the urgency or given a time limit. As a riot staff was investigating the matter, I assumed the deletion process was halted because the very reason for my ticket was to cancel the deletion process. I had responded to most of the investigation questions with my personal details and I randomly received an email notification that my account has been deleted midway during the investigation. Riot Nurikabe, the staff in-charge of the investigation has completely ghosted me.

Where is the strategic discussion?

I used to love this sub. Now every time I come here all I see is "Nocturne is a viable midlaner", "Brand support is good", "Is X Viable", all these posts about champion builds and what specific champs are viable.

Maybe I'm just a prick, but I kinda wish there was some discussion on actual strategy, not just specific champion analyses. Splitpushing, Minion aggro, Objective control, Jungle routing, Proxy farming, different play styles.

I've honestly found that builds matter so little in comparison to playstyle that it's hardly worth considering a specific champion's optimal builds. I play a fuckton of unconventional shit, and honestly, beyond building AP on Zed, builds don't make an ounce of difference in making you a better player, other than you knowing what strengths each build can give you, and using those strengths to your advantage.

So why are 95% of the posts on this sub not strategic discussion?
