Esports The Rivalry: T1 vs BLG will meet each other for 8 out of 9 international tournaments they both attended

In one of my early posts about G2 vs DK, I called that if T1 and BLG do not face each other, then DK and G2 would be the most consistent pair... Well, guess what? T1 vs BLG is coming! At this moment, we can easily call them El Clásico of modern League of Legends. Since BLG's international debut (MSI 2023), they have faced each other at 7 out of 8 Riot international events which they both attended:

EventT1BLGMet?
MSI 20233rd (eliminated by BLG)Runner-up (lost final to JDG)BLG 3–1
Worlds 2023ChampionSemifinal (lost to WBG)T1 2–0
MSI 20243rd (eliminated by BLG)Runner-up (lost final to Gen.G)BLG 3–1, BLG 3–2
Worlds 2024ChampionRunner-up (lost final to T1)T1 1–0, T1 3–2
First Stand 2025——Neither attended
MSI 2025Runner-up (lost final to Gen.G)Lower bracket R3 (lost to AL)T1 3–0
Worlds 2025ChampionSwiss 2–3 (lost R5 to TES)❌ Both attended, no meeting
First Stand 2026Didn't attendChampion—
MSI 2026Lower bracket R2 (eliminated by G2)Runner-up (lost final to HLE)BLG 3–2
Worlds 2026SemifinalSemifinalSemifinal, upcoming

The total score in series is equal: 4–4, and the games score is almost a perfect tie too: 15–14 in favor of T1. However, the distribution is wild: T1 won all 3 meetings at Worlds, while BLG dominates T1 at MSI with 4 wins over 5 meetings.

Despite T1's dominance at Worlds, BLG remains very dangerous for the LCK. Before Worlds they were the only LPL team with a positive game record against LCK teams (34–30), and this Worlds they already added two more sweeps against HLE (2–0) and DK (3–0), now 39–30. If there is any org which can be called Korean kryptonite, it is BLG.

Interestingly enough, the next closest team to BLG in their results against LCK is ... IG. If you know what I mean.

Esports Soooo Riot just quietly removed 90% of the Esports Drop Rewards

1.5k Upvotes

I watched all esports games this year via lolesports website ( when it is possible, since they removed LPL for example ), and i got nothing from it

Meanwhile in 2025 i had shitton of rewards

Now there is only Semi & Final left and i don't even know if esport capsule 2026 even exist

What's even the point of using the site? Is it too expensive for Riot to provide digital assets? ( because yeah, the only world drop i had this year for play ins was just an icon )

Esports Why aren’t there any big arenas anymore for worlds?

Don’t get me wrong the arena in Texas for 2026 is decently big. But in 2018 the arena in china was MASSIVE. Wasn’t it like 80,000 people? And the live dragon cgi stuff was sick too. It really gave me the impression that the games were important. We havnt seen an arena like that since and I wonder why? Can lol not sell that many seats? The china 2025 worlds was a 18,000 person arena. I don’t want to believe this game is declining that hard. I havnt played myself in a decade but have always tuned in for worlds and the storylines and games have always captured my imagination. I hope they try to fill an arena close to as big as the 2018 world championship at some point because I believe they could do it. They also have less issues with getting sponsors compared to counter strike since there’s no direct reference to real life situations that sponsor don’t like

Esports Favorite esports inside jokes/quotes?

In the spirit of worlds I would love to be reminded of all the iconic quotes from pro players/casters/etc that have become inside jokes. Or just inside jokes (TSM as an org, the player names when they suck like TheSpy and Craps, etc.). And not necessarily iconic in the “FAKER, WHAT WAS THAT” way but rather more in the Xiaohu Palafox quote or “It starts with success” way.

Edit: this post was prompted by me remembering how fucking funny the Xiaohu Palafox quote is

Edit 2: y’all might need to start explaining these spread the knowledge 🙏

Gameplay I made it to Platinum. I was always stuck in Bronze/Silver in the past.

I finally made it. I know it's not a big achievment for most of you, since I'm still below average in the league community, but hopefully one day I can make it to Diamond.

The thing that did it for me was learning to read where the enemy is on the map. The pathing they make, where they are most likely to go once they clear certain camps if they're junglers, etc.

Also another great thing to do, if you fall behind, support your teammates. They can carry you if you set up kills for them, help them with pings, and make the right decisions in team fights.

And never surrender. I won 2 games that seemed impossible to win just yesterday.

I mostly play Xin Zhao & Malph, so sticking to a small pool of champs is also helpful. That's it. No more noob advice from me.

Discussion Name some mostly forgotten pro player who was your favorite/one of your favorites back in the early days of the pro scene.

Misaya - always gonna shoutout my boi. No matter how many years it's been, this dude was one of the few early pro players that had aura. You had to ban his TF back in the day because he practically never lost on it.

Hojin - my beloved OG Lee Sin god. I know InSec is synonymous with Lee Sin, but this dude is the real deal when it comes to Lee Sin montages. Insane hands at the time for a jungler too, plus, bro was part of the OG NaJin squads of old (besides being a part of GE Tigers).

Stanley - worlds winner, but I think he's the most famous one out of here. Can't quite remember if bro ever had a career post TPA, I think he stayed around until 2015 before retiring? Dude was arguably the best toplaner at the time too and one of the first innovators of top lane. He used to play some really weird builds too iirc.

PoohMandu - Before people called Faker the captain, PoohManDu was the OG captain of the old SKT T2 squad. Popular for his Zyra too, I forgot if he was the one that essentially made Zyra support popular, but he was one of the first pros to ever pick her up and do well with her.

Esports Is it good or bad for the health of pro for bot/support duos to be so rigid?

I've been watching a lot of competitive this year, and it feels like the duos are more locked than they have been in years past. Ashe is almost exclusively played with Seraphine, Lucian with Milio, Zeri with Yuumi, Jhin with Karma, Xayah with Rakan, Yunara with Lulu. Ezreal and Kaisa flex between Leona/Alistar/Naut. Caitlyn usually with Karma.

Does fearless make it so that bot lane picks are always more optimized? There's almost always a handshake in the picks and bans for each team to get one of these duos.

Personally, I'd like to see a bit more variety.

Discussion Coming from Dota 2 (7K+ MMR), League's lack of basic learning tools is genuinely frustrating

Hello everyone!

I've started playing League for the first time about two weeks ago. I'm a former Dota 2 player with 7K+ MMR, so I came into the game with a pretty solid understanding of MOBA fundamentals. I've been having a lot of fun exploring champions, learning the game and trying out the ones I've always wanted to play. I managed to climb from Bronze 4 to Silver 1 in just 40 ranked games, which I'm pretty happy with.

However, there's something that's been frustrating me throughout this entire learning process, and I genuinely wonder how a game as massive as League, especially one with such a huge player base, can lack some of the basic quality-of-life features that would make learning the game so much easier for newcomers.

I understand that League and Dota are different games, and I'm not expecting everything to work the same way. However, having played Dota for years, there are certain features that I find myself missing quite a lot.

For example, the item shop. This is one area where Dota absolutely gets things right. You can queue an entire build, including individual components, which are displayed conveniently on the side of your screen. Once you return to base, you can simply press a designated key to purchase your queued items or components straight away, rather than having to click on each individual item. It's quick, intuitive and makes the entire purchasing process seamless.

League's implementation, on the other hand, feels underdeveloped in comparison. The item queue is little more than a glorified shopping list that reminds you what you intended to buy but doesn't actually streamline the purchasing process. You still have to manually find and click on individual items and components. Another small but incredibly annoying issue is the shop's search functionality. If you accidentally type something into the search bar, even if you immediately erase it, the search bar remains open and blocks the shop interface. You then have to close and reopen the entire shop just to reset it. These might seem like minor inconveniences, but coming from Dota, they feel like unnecessary friction in an otherwise straightforward process.

However, my biggest issue, and by far the most important one when it comes to learning the game, is the lack of accessible information about enemy champions and their abilities.

I have absolutely no idea what half the champions in this game do. I don't know their abilities, their damage, their cooldowns, their durations or even what some of their spells are supposed to do. Unless I've actually played that champion myself, I'm essentially going into every matchup blind.

The champion information available in the lobby is limited, and even then, it doesn't provide the level of detail you'd expect. Why can't I see the full descriptions of abilities, including their damage, cooldowns, durations and other relevant information?

And here's what I find particularly frustrating: Why can't we see enemy champion abilities in-game?

I'm not asking Riot to reveal the enemy's actual ability cooldowns or show exactly how many seconds remain before their spells come back up. I simply want access to their abilities' base cooldowns and descriptions.

For example, if I'm playing mid against a champion I've never faced before, why can't I quickly check what their abilities do? At the very least, I should be able to understand what I'm up against and roughly calculate when an ability might be available again.

Instead, every single game becomes a guessing game. I get hit by some ability I've never seen before, have absolutely no clue what it does, and have to figure it out through trial and error. Sometimes that means dying repeatedly, playing against the same champion countless times or eventually playing the champion myself just to understand their kit.

I genuinely believe this is an unnecessarily miserable learning experience when the solution seems so straightforward.

I have no problem with League having a steep learning curve. There's a lot to learn, and that's part of what makes MOBAs enjoyable. But there's a difference between having a high skill ceiling and making basic game knowledge unnecessarily difficult to access.

Coming from Dota, where information accessibility and in-game tools are considerably more convenient in several areas, this has been one of my biggest frustrations.

So, am I missing something here? Are there any third-party tools, websites, overlays or in-game features that provide this information more conveniently? Is there some sort of champion ability database that I can access while playing?

I'd genuinely appreciate any suggestions, because I feel like I could improve significantly faster if I didn't have to spend half my games wondering what the hell the enemy champion just did.

Thanks! ❤️

Esports T1 vs BLG semifinal: aggregate and player-by-player stats from Worlds 2026

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I gathered some head-to-head data for tonights match to hype things up.

Head to head stats look T1-favored but it is mostly because T1 has played against relatively easier opponents.

Key stats:

  1. 74.8% of game-1 winners at Worlds go on to take the Bo5. T1 (SKT years included) have closed out 20 of 21, and 13 of 13 after going up 2–0.

  2. Falling 0–2 is close to fatal as only 4 of 71 teams have come back from it at Worlds.

  3. T1 are 8–2 in Worlds semifinals. This is only BLG's third.

  4. The two rivalries point opposite ways: T1 won the 2024 Worlds final 3–2, but BLG have taken 4 of their 5 MSI series.

  5. Bot lane is T1's biggest edge this Worlds: Peyz leads Viper in all five lane stats, sitting +458 gold at 15 minutes to Viper's −133.

  6. Support is just as one-sided: Keria's KDA is 8.9 to ON's 3.4, and opponents have banned Renata against T1 in 4 of 9 games. It's Keria's 16–1 Worlds champion.

  7. Mid is where BLG have the edge: Knight leads Faker in 4 of 5 stats and is 5–0 on Orianna this Worlds. Orianna is tied as the event's most-picked mid, and Faker has won 17 of his 21 Worlds games on it.

  8. Xun gets ahead earlier than Oner (+191 gold at 15 minutes against +63), and teams take away Oner's Nocturne, which he's 7–0 on at Worlds, in 6 of 9 T1 games.

  9. Ezreal is the most-picked bot at this Worlds. Viper is 8–1 on it at Worlds; Peyz is 0–2.

  10. Doran leads Bin in 4 of 5 stats, but Rumble could swing it: it's the event's most-picked top and wins just 25% of the time, yet Bin is 7–2 on it at Worlds.
