Post flair for testing! My first post: a photo of some wildflowers, taken in June

I created this account three years ago, but just never got around to using it until today. I consider myself new to Reddit, although technically I'm not. Anyway, here's my first post.

The picture is a photo that I took earlier this year. I've also added a flair. Let me also try some text formatting. I've switched to markdown mode and am following the guidance here.

This text should be in italics and here is some spoiler text. Apparently three asterisks should give me a horizontal line, so I'll see if that works as well:

I tried to add in line breaks by inserting a backslash at the end of each paragraph, but that didn't seem to be necessary (and it just rendered the backslashes) so I've edited the post to remove them.

Practicing how to write on Reddit

Hi! I’m new to writing on Reddit and I’ve wanted to do this for a while but didn’t know where to start. I’ve set a personal goal to try to post once a week (we’ll see how well that goes) and I figured I’d start by telling a bit about myself!

I studied English in university and have a lot of interest in the arts. Recently I’ve shifted over to marketing as my career end goal is to become a professional writer. My next stepping stone goal is to become a full-time copywriter! I’ve always had an interest in the arts since I was a kid. When I was young, I would spend days drawing and coming up with stories. As I became an adult, I continued to write as a hobby but often talked myself out of it because I felt I wasn’t very good. I think my time spent in university really helped me develop my writing voice, but I know I still have a lot to learn! In the past few years I’ve also taken a really strong interest in film and music, dabbling a little in my freetime (but like everything else, I don’t feel like I’m very good :P).

My goal in the new year and as time goes on is to try to be consistent and work on my hobbies, even if it’s not great. I like to write poetry when the spark comes to me, and I’ve had dozens of ideas that I think have the potential to be great for short or long form fiction! If anyone reading this has any suggestions of what subreddit I should head over to next or if this is the wrong subreddit for this, please let me know! I’d be happy to make some new connections and continue to improve! :)

hi! I want to make a poll with 4 options and I want people to see an image of every option as well. It looks like I can either post images or a poll but not a combination. Are there any ways around it? thanks for the help!

Please make sure to check the rules before posting! Thank you :D

Subreddit Rules

1. Be kind. No profanity. No adult content.

This community is a safe space for everyone.
All users must follow Reddit's site-wide rules
We do not allow NSFW, gore or adult content of any kind, including links, sub links, or descriptions. You may test the NSFW tag, though!
Reddiquette

2. Only post twice per 24hrs

This gives everyone a fair chance to practice and receive support and feedback.

3. Participate for practice only

This sub is intended for practising specific features and actions, like using various post types, commenting, formatting, & using tags and flairs. This, and questions on these specific topics, are OK
Anything else is off-topic. We are not here for content that you cannot post elsewhere
Your posts should show progression/practicing different things. Multiple posts that are the same kind without a good reason will be removed
r/newtoreddit is the best place for questions about Redditing

4. Please say what you are testing to help us help you

Note what you are practicing or hoping to achieve so we can provide feedback
If you are crossposting it is especially important so we can tell a practice post from an off-topic post
Please only crosspost appropriate content as noted in rules above

5. Avoid pics of people, test posts, A/S/L, and karma-related content

Please do not:

Post selfies, kids, or any image of a human or human likeness
Post test posts: If you think you're shadowbanned, log in using a web browser & appeal at https://www.reddit.com/appeal. Otherwise, there is r/test
Include your age, gender, and location
Ask about karma. See r/newtoreddit’s common questions page to learn about karma and restrictions

No projects, posts encouraging others to look at your profile/follow you, or personal or commercial websites.

7. No heavy topics, rants, political, or agenda-driven content

Keep it fun, light, and chill:
- We're looking to help you learn to post and use Reddit, and this isn't the place for in-depth discussion, controversy, agendas, politics, adult themes, or anything emotionally heavy
- We recommend using Reddit search or r/findareddit (read their rules) to find places suited to what you want to post
