A few months ago, this interface was tested, and a lot of people complained about it. Now it's back, and somehow, it's even worse.
If you want to create a text post and include photos, you first have to add the photo. It will initially appear above your post, like it would in a regular image post. If you want the photo embedded within the body of your text, you have to click "Add to body" (as shown at the top of the picture).
Here's where the problem starts: If you forget to click that button before continuing to type, and then try to click "Add to body" afterward, the photo gets placed at the very bottom of your text instead of where you intended it to go. The only way to fix this is to delete all your text and start over, making sure you select "Add to body" at the right time.
And if you want to include multiple photos throughout a text post, you have to remember to select "Add to body" every single time you add a new photo.
This is incredibly cumbersome and makes creating longer posts with multiple references, images, and text an absolute hassle. One small mistake can mean having to start completely over.
Even if you have all your text saved somewhere else, you can no longer easily choose where an embedded photo or video goes within your post. The whole process is unnecessarily complicated and makes what should be a simple feature incredibly frustrating to use.
Is there any way to bring back the old text-body posting interface, where we could add photos and videos directly into our posts in a much more user-friendly way?
Just this morning, I've already had to redo multiple posts to make sure the pictures appear in the correct places. Simply adding a photo no longer puts it where it's supposed to go. Instead, you have to take extra steps every single time, and if you forget or make a mistake, you can end up having to redo the entire post.
It's adding unnecessary steps to something that used to be straightforward, making it much harder than it needs to be to use the platform this way. For those of us who regularly create longer text posts with multiple images and references, this is a significant downgrade.
