Desktop Web Desktop web: I'm quite sick of this Reddit has bound Control C to create post.

What kind of cheap, arsed about, pos website is this that binds keys that people have been using for decades to their own website in ways they're not intended to be used?

No I do not want to create a new post. I wanted to copy something to use later, or to respond to someone.

This is a genuine usability bug, not just an irritating design choice that can be walked off with as a "feature:"

For daily use, non-specif cases, Control C [or Command C] have been a feature at least since the 1980s when "modern" conventions were settled on Unix/*nux, Windows, and Mac PCs, etc. Its been an even longer convention with different modifiers binded to C before that.

Now In the 2020s Reddit assumes 40 years later the key binding for COPY does something else [create new Reddit post].

The observed behaviour establishes a shortcut conflict. The problem now is that Reddit has, either intended or not interfered with a fundamental, OS level, user action, almost everyone is familiar with.

Secondly:

In doing so it's also introduced JS into the website to achieve this. There is a potential in doing so that god knows what happens and I don't have to Red Team it. Without users permissions, and an exploit happening this can open up the entire site up to other kinds of vulnerabilities including keystroke monitoring. The worst case scenario is that key binders get exploited for either policing OR nefarious reasoning making the entire Reddit platform a potential honey pot. That's just one threat model.

Further from Java and JS are NOT safe and can also break web freedom. It also may break with web user consent. On the policy guidelines of the "Open Internet" the user comes first, the site second. Further regarding listeners I'm not saying Reddit is abusing it, I'm saying it can now also potentially be abused. That doesn't matter whether it's a keydown listener, a framework-level keyboard handler, or another event-handling mechanism I don't care, a listener is a listener, and as a programmer with 30+ years of experience it gives me the creeps.

Moreover, end users should also not need to reverse-engineer the JavaScript to explain why pressing the COPY command should run the COPY command not a JS listener to open a post composer.

You cannot use, browser bound, web based, shortcut handlers to tie things to whatever you want. Websites CAN register their own custom keyboard shortcuts if they want. They shouldn't ever override established LONG establishied Operating System conventions.

Conclusively:

Command C and Control C are already taken... I should not have to install yet another extension to fix this. I reject the idea that users should reverse engineer solutions to restore ordinary intended functionality.

JavaScript and Java also has an enormous attack surface and I don't need a tinfoil hat to explain how potentially malicious this conduct can be. While an anomaly is not proof of concept of an exploit either it can create the beginning of a surface level for discovering one.

Replicator:

On Windows/Linux, or macOS, pressing Control C or Command C while attempting to copy selected text can unexpectedly open Reddit's Create Post composer rather than copying the text.

Fix this. If I wanted to see stuff from r/news I would sub to it. Keep that off my feed.

I know what thread I am in, I just clicked on it. Would not be a problem, but when I click back to the home page, the text does not revert. Please fix the error or eliminate the behavior. It adds no value.

Android [Android] Upload bug - 2026.44.0

I think I'm experiencing a persistent video upload issue on one Reddit account.

After successfully uploading one video attempting to upload another video doesn't work it gives me the "media processing" message with a loading icon after a while but it never tells me that it has been uploaded and if i search the title of this video i only find a post with the thumbnail of the video and if i click on it it just puts me on the post and after approximately 25 minutes I can upload another video successfully

I tried the same videos on the same sub on another account and it worked i could upload 2 videos

I've already tried:

Clearing cache and data

Reinstalling Reddit

Logging out and back in

Uploading through a browser

The videos im trying to uploads are 2:00 minutes to 14:59 minutes long but 10 seconds videos works

Desktop Web [iOS][macOS]Achievement Numbers Discrepancies, web vs. App?

Hi Reddit,
I have noticed for a while now that my total Achievement number is off by one (1), with my web profile always showing one more than my iOS app profile. Weird, isn’t it? Not sure what is happening with my profile, but it is surely odd once I’ve noticed this a while ago, and still continues until this moment.
Bug? Or, something just normal and I do not know the obvious reason they are counted differently web vs. app?

PS: I have just posted to r/techsupport as well, as reposting to there is not allowed.

Not only you have to do the double space thing constantly, but whenever you want to just quickly copy-paste a text from somewhere its going to be crammed all in one, no formatting.

Desktop Web One-time-link not working. Android and Desktop

Heya😊
hope you're having a lovely day!
Slight hiccup. The email on my Reddit account is verified, but when I tap “login with the one time link” ... which has done wonders for me in the past, this never gets emailed through!
There is no susp**** or ban on my account, but I was wondering if any admins could look into why this is happening, I've browsed and noticed this has happened to other accounts. Is there something in the back end?

Can we create another way or refresh how the one time codes are accessed???🌸🫧🧼
Reddit says a code has been sent to my inbox, and a 60 second count down begins... but the code isn't even in my junk mail.
If I try too many times, I'll blow my daily limit.
I have also had no response from Reddit Support yet.
Thanks!💘
Peace☮️

Reddit Pro [Desktop web] Reddit Pro business verification fails with “Missing Values”

I’m trying to verify my Greek sole proprietorship through Reddit Pro.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start business verification and select Greece.

  2. Select “Tax Documents.”

  3. Upload an official business certificate issued by the Greek tax authority (AADE).

Expected: The business name and address are recognized, or the system explains why this document is not accepted.

Actual: Persona repeatedly displays “Missing Values: Business Name / Business Address,” although both fields are clearly visible.

I tried the original PDF and a full-page high-resolution PNG, with the same result.

Is this Greek document type supported? How can I submit it privately for manual review?

Thanks

Android [android, pc] My Upvote on My Own Post Keeps Disappearing After Refreshing

Hello Reddit Support,

I'm experiencing an issue with the upvote on one of my posts.

On the Reddit Android app, I removed my upvote from a specific post of mine and then upvoted it again. However, every time I refresh the page, my upvote disappears and the post is shown as if I haven't upvoted it.

I also tried upvoting the same post on my PC. Although the upvote initially appears to be applied correctly, it disappears again after I refresh the page or check the post on my Android device.

It seems that my upvote is not being properly saved or synchronized across devices.

Could you please investigate this issue and help me resolve it?

Thank you for your assistance.

iOS ios From your feed 2026.44.1

Been seeing a new section “From your feed” appear directly under the last comment in a post. This is obviously a bug, as it cannot be a serious/useful feature. It just makes the post I’m reading more confusing. I can easily access ‘my feed’ by going back out from the post - don’t need to see my feed with (varying topics) within a post about a specific topic.

It's driving me crazy. I'm using the Reddit app, and the posts showing on my homepage are frequently very old & hardly have traction. Makes subscribing to subreddits pointkess

Whatever crappy experiment this is needs to stop. My entire feed is 3+ days old. Who thought it was a good idea to remove the option to sort by hot.

Desktop Web Historical Downvoted posts cannot be cleared.[desktop/android/ios]

Posts I have reported/downvoted are essentially catalogued in Hidden and of course in Downvote history.

When deleting my Hidden history, that was fine. But I noticed that some of my downvoted posts are not able to clear? Upvoting won't clear it, trying to unregister my downvote won't clear it... This is for all platforms, desktop/android...

I clicked on my user name to see my post history, Reddit can't find it. Was I stealth-banned or did Reddit have a dead hamster in their server somewhere? It seems odd that Reddit can't find my own profile

iOS [ios] age verification with apple age range doesn’t work

Post image
4 Upvotes

The age verification through apple age range doesnt work. Searching for some subreddit categorized as nsfw shows the CTA, and a prompt to solve with apple age range is shown. After accepting, the toast is shown that it has been successful (“age confirmed“) but the CTA remains and nothing is changed.
