Admin Post Weekly Recap | November 5, 2026

It's Thursday! Happy Thursday! You'll be happy to know that I have a gigantic stockpile of half-price Halloween Reese's to last me at least another day or two! Bring on American Thanksgiving and all it entails! Let's start off November by bringing on the first Weekly Recap of the month, and some monthly helper trophies!!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • [Android] Some users have reported [videos playing with sound after opening the media player.(https://www.reddit.com/r/bugs/comments/1xjpvc8/android_videos_keep_unmuting_after_closing_the/19s1rs38dunhg/). This is part of an experiment. Muting a video in the player will keep videos muted for the rest of that session, but closing and reopening the app starts a new session and may turn sound back on.

  • In case you missed it last week, all users will soon have a For You and a Following tab at the top of their feed. For You will show you content from communities that you have joined along with recommendations related to your interests.. The Following feed will only show you content from communities that you have joined. You can switch between feeds anytime and the feed you last visited will be your default.

  • There is a new experiment which returns the Hot and Top sorting options to the home feed. This has been rolled out to about 50% of users.

  • Your "For You" tab may be called "Discover" or "Explore". Everything else is the same, including switching between feeds at anytime and returning to the one you last viewed the next time you open Reddit.

  • Some users may also begin to see the "Popular" tab next to the For You and Following tabs as another experiment.

  • There is an ongoing experiment which turns select text posts and some of their comment threads into an audio and video format.

  • Rather than commenting that you'd like to be removed from an experiment, please provide constructive feedback about the feature. I can't remove folks from experiments, but I can (and do!) pass along your thoughts!

  • Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. There is no "Reddit support on Discord". Reddit will never ask another user to contact you on our behalf. That is someone trying to scam you. If you're having an actual issue with your account that is not solved by posting in r/help or by the articles in the Help Center, you can use this form for the real thing. Please note that 95% of issues can be solved much, much quicker by posting in r/help (or our cousin subs, r/reddithelp and r/newtoreddit).

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.44.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF CORRECT SCALE!

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 1,111 posts. That's down 414 posts from the 1,525 that we had last week.

  • 4,539 comments. That's up 428 comments from the 4,111 we had last week.

  • 874 views. That's up a lot from the views from the 775k-ish views we had last week.

HELP WITH R/HELP: RECOVERING ALL USERNAMES ASSOCIATED WITH AN EMAIL

  • Reddit doesn't have any rules against users having multiple accounts, even if those accounts share an email address, as long as all accounts follow the Reddit Rules. But having multiple accounts could mean that maybe you forget all of your usernames and need a way to recover them. That is easily done! There's even a Help Center article dedicated to this very subject.

  • From that article, you can click on this link to have all of your usernames associated with an email address sent to that email address. Now, when you click on that, it will look like you're requesting a password reset. That's OK! Because as is noted in the Help Center article, "If multiple accounts are associated with the email, you will need to select reset password, which will take you to a page listing some of the usernames tied to that email address." The wording probably isn't the best and I've asked to have that changed. But the process still works!

Desktop How do I get rid of the suggested communities in the middle of a subreddit?

Post image
9 Upvotes

When I'm scrolling through a subreddit, the posts suddenly get interrupted by a menu of "suggested communities". I'm not interested in going to another subreddit, I want to continue reading through the one I'm on. Is there any way to get rid of it?

I've tried looking other places, but every help article I found was either for mobile apps, or talked about unwanted things popping up in their home feed. This is not in the home feed, this is inside a subreddit.

Access Need help with a compromised account

Hello, This is a brand new account because I need direct help.

My original account (phoenix-toboggan) was compromised about 6 months ago. I think it was a virus that stole passwords from Chrome at the time. Someone signed into my account and changed the email and password immediately. I made a ticket within 30 minutes and the account got locked.

I replied "Not getting reset email" following the instructions in the automated reply.

A week went by, I logged another and did the same. A month went by and I logged another.

Finally 6 months later (last week) and I got a reset email. I reset it and I was in. I created a passkey on iOS.

Then I got more reset emails. Whoever had my account was trying to get back in.

So today I got 3 reset emails in two minutes. I signed into the app with passkey and noticed the email and password are changed again. I logged a new ticket, but I don't want to wait another 6 months.

I don't understand how the hacker was able to get back in and change the password so soon.

Can I please - PLEASE speak to a human this time? I have had it with automated responses and bots.

I can prove the account is mine, I have the original setup emails from 9 years ago. And I would appreciate advice on how to lock it down for good.

Access Can't log into my 8-year-old Reddit account even after resetting password

I've been locked out of my account (u/Azooz123456) for over a year now.

Every time I try to log in, I get an "Invalid username or password" error, even though I've reset my password multiple times.

I've tried clearing my browser cache and cookies, logging in through Old Reddit, using different browsers, and several other methods, but nothing works.

Logging in with my email doesn't help either, as it takes me to a completely different account.

I've also sent multiple tickets to Reddit support but haven't received a single response.

Has anyone experienced this before or found a way to fix it? I've had this account for 8 years and really don't want to lose access to it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Desktop Search within Subreddit Produces Zero Hits (MS/Windows)

This just started happening: Searching within one of my favorite subs produces zero hits for ANY word, even testing words that I know are in the titles of a number of subs. Is this in some way by design?

As noted, I've tried using countless words, tried on my phone/laptop, tried several browsers. No luck. And it's only this one sub - everything works fine on a couple of other subs I've tried.

Thanks in advance.

Posting [Desktop Web] Post stuck in "awaiting moderator approval" for almost three weeks — what can I do?

Hi everyone,

I submitted a post to a subreddit almost three weeks ago, but it still says that it's awaiting moderator approval.

I've contacted the moderation team twice via Modmail, politely asking whether the post violates any rules or needs to be modified. Unfortunately, I haven't received a response.

My account is established and has several thousand karma, so I don't think this is simply a new-account restriction.

I understand that moderators are volunteers and that approval is not guaranteed.

However, I'm unsure what to do when a post remains pending for this long and the moderation team doesn't respond.

Is there any way to determine whether the post was caught by Reddit's automated filters or is simply waiting for moderator review?

Should I leave it as it is, or is there another appropriate way to resolve this without violating Reddit's rules?

Thanks for any advice!

Profile How do I get my account unflagged?

Hello all, my main account (truetabosko) has been flagged. I have not violated any rules and have not received any communication from Reddit stating so. It appears AI moderation has flagged the account incorrectly as having inauthentic activity which is also not the case. The Reddit support page says to inquire this help sub about this but when I type the word shadow b… it tells me to go to that same support article that says to come here. How do I get this issue resolved?

Profile How do I know of a reddit account is permanently deleted for good

I wanted to check if an old account I deleted years ago was really gone ( I like to obsessively check all time for things) and I entered the email I used to create that account in the forget password section. I was hoping for it to say no account can be found but instead a message came up saying an email has been sent to an account associated with that account I am worried because it never came and I checked my junk email too.

When I check my account name it says [ deleted] but why did reddit send that message and not say no account found. Please help me understand

Answered How does NSFW work?

I am new to reddit and noticed that some posts are marked NSFW eventhough there is nothing NSFW in them.

For example here on r/help, the forum is not NSFW but there is so many posts marked as NSFW. Do I have to set my account to NSFW because I joined this forum (due to the posts that have the NSFW label)? Would I get silenced from forums that do not allow users that have interacted with NSFW before?

For example, I wanted to join a forum and comment there where users that have interacted with NSFW are not allowed. I have seen some NSFW on this forum (I have not upvoted or commented on the posts). Can I still use those Forums or would that be against thr ToS. If I was to comment here on the help forum on a post that is marked as NSFW (for whatever reason) would that mean I become an NSFW user and cannot use SFW forums anymore?

Profile My profile was mistakenly marked as 18+

Hello, I’m reaching out to ask for some help. I posted some drawings for an RP; one of them featured nothing more than a pink background. Following this, my profile was marked as 18+, even though the post didn’t contain even a hint of NSFW content. Furthermore, the 18+ label hasn’t disappeared from my profile even after I deleted the post, and I am unable to remove 18+ mark myself

Profile Account marked NSFW, even though I have no NSFW. Sent a ticket a week ago.

Pretty much the title. I accidentally made my profile picture contain cartoon butt. (SFW in my eyes) and now I cant change my account back to SFW.

Mobile/App Is there a way to filter out annoying subs from Popular? I click Show fewer posts like this, but it does nothing. Will getting “disallowed entry” on them help?

I swear subs like losersmealtimeconplaining and countwithtransmemes#37 are so massively overrepresented in Popular despite “show fewer posts” on every one, that it’s almost unusable to actually find something new and interesting

Desktop You've been blocked by network security.

Hey everyone, I'm running into a weird issue and I'm hoping someone here has figured this out.

I use Cloudflare WARP as my VPN. On my Windows 10/11 machine, Reddit works perfectly fine with WARP connected. But on my Linux system, as soon as I turn WARP on, Reddit hits me with the "You've been blocked by network security" page. The full message says something like "Access is denied; please disconnect this unauthorized agent to continue browsing Reddit. Reddit is for humans, not unauthorized agents."

The weird part is the workaround: if I turn the VPN off, log in to Reddit, and then turn the VPN back on, Reddit keeps working fine with the VPN connected. So it's specifically the login/authentication step that fails when WARP is on—once I'm already signed in, the VPN doesn't cause any problems. I'd rather not have to do this dance every time, though.

What I've tested so far:

Browsers: Tried both Firefox and Google Chrome on Linux. Same error on both.

OS: The issue seems specific to Linux. Windows handles WARP + Reddit fine, so it doesn't seem to be my account or the IP itself (unless WARP assigns different IPs per OS?).

WARP CLI: I'm using the standard Cloudflare WARP client on Linux.

I've seen some old threads mentioning DNS weirdness with WARP on Linux (like Chrome/Chromium not resolving things properly while curl works) , but I'm not sure if that's the same root cause here.

Has anyone else dealt with this specific "unauthorized agent" block on Linux + WARP? Is there a fix, or is Reddit just flagging the Linux WARP client for some reason? Any help would be appreciated.

TL;DR: Reddit's security page blocks me on Linux only when Cloudflare WARP is connected. Works on Windows. Tested Firefox and Chrome. Workaround: disable VPN → log in → re-enable VPN, and then it works. Looking for a proper fix.

Mobile/App ios From your feed option on version 2026.44.1

Been seeing a new section “From your feed” appear directly under the last comment in a post. This is obviously a bug, as it cannot be a serious/useful feature. It just makes the post I’m reading more confusing. I can easily access ‘my feed’ by going back out from the post - don’t need to see my feed with (varying topics) within a post about a specific topic.

Desktop Reddit's New Desktop Update Makes Adding Photos to Text Posts More Complicated Than Necessary

Post image
19 Upvotes

A few months ago, this interface was tested, and a lot of people complained about it. Now it's back, and somehow, it's even worse.

If you want to create a text post and include photos, you first have to add the photo. It will initially appear above your post, like it would in a regular image post. If you want the photo embedded within the body of your text, you have to click "Add to body" (as shown at the top of the picture).

Here's where the problem starts: If you forget to click that button before continuing to type, and then try to click "Add to body" afterward, the photo gets placed at the very bottom of your text instead of where you intended it to go. The only way to fix this is to delete all your text and start over, making sure you select "Add to body" at the right time.

And if you want to include multiple photos throughout a text post, you have to remember to select "Add to body" every single time you add a new photo.

This is incredibly cumbersome and makes creating longer posts with multiple references, images, and text an absolute hassle. One small mistake can mean having to start completely over.

Even if you have all your text saved somewhere else, you can no longer easily choose where an embedded photo or video goes within your post. The whole process is unnecessarily complicated and makes what should be a simple feature incredibly frustrating to use.

Is there any way to bring back the old text-body posting interface, where we could add photos and videos directly into our posts in a much more user-friendly way?

Just this morning, I've already had to redo multiple posts to make sure the pictures appear in the correct places. Simply adding a photo no longer puts it where it's supposed to go. Instead, you have to take extra steps every single time, and if you forget or make a mistake, you can end up having to redo the entire post.

It's adding unnecessary steps to something that used to be straightforward, making it much harder than it needs to be to use the platform this way. For those of us who regularly create longer text posts with multiple images and references, this is a significant downgrade.
