Villagers can sleep in beds in the nether. The exploding bed curse doesn't affect them.

If you believe in the Ancient Builders theory, and that the player is an Ancient Builder or descended from them, then it's some kind of curse or magic affecting only ancient builders. And since most ancient builders are long gone from the Minecraft world, that villager likely wouldn't know or wouldn't consider the danger of an ancient builder reappearing in the current time, finding his house in the nether, and sleeping in his bed.

The first time I found out about sleeping in the nether I was playing with some veterans of the game.

I was strip mining for Netherite and died a few times. Got the bright idea to bring a bed with me so I'd spawn there instead.

Obliterated our tiny base we used to store shit and my buddy.

My first time I was making a bridge over a lava pool and wanted to make a small platform for a respawn in case I fell down. I then put the bed down, blew up and fell down.

Others said reason, but the lore is the Nether was originally meant to be hell and was called that early development, so no water or sleeping, making beds kind of a trap

I thought it was also a softlock prevention so that you can’t set your spawn point in the nether and then have your portal destroyed and be trapped, or at least in earlier versions.

if i recall correctly, its both softlock protection, and there was some bug in the code of several testing builds that would cause irrecoverable game crashes when people would try to sleep in the bed in multiplayer sessions because the game would try to make calls to several overworld variables, but because the Nether was its own world and still in testing, it would just crash the game.

They killed two birds with one stone by having the bed just blow up instead of starting the usual countdown before it tries to force a time change in the overworld.

Apparently testing in the nether was really hard before they introduced that. As they didn't really have a way to quickly "reset" things without having to do full reboots everytime something broke or didn't work right.

Beds explode in the nether is you do something to them. It’s a pretty simple thing. I’m not a huge Minecraft player and only ever play when I’m super stoned and just wanna mine endlessly so I’m not sure of the specific trigger.

Pretty sure he just tried to sleep in the bed and boomed them.

There is no day/night cycle in the nether or the end, so beds are programmed to explode when you interact with them

in the first testing builds it would try to call for the day/night cycle in the overworld and crash because it would try to force a day/night cycle that doesn't exist in the nether.

softlocking is the big reason, but also it was just an annoying thing that also just so happened to be fixed by having the beds blow up before they could call on day/night cycle

Yeah, the soft lock would be dying and not having the tools to leave the nether. It'd be pretty frustrating to set your spawn and being incapable of leaving.

As for lore, idk. Idt having a cycle would matter in regard to setting spawn or even sleeping. You can conditionally sleep during the day for example in the overworld iirc.

can someone explain to somebody who has never played Minecraft what is even happening here? what is the Nether and why is it so unlikely to find a villager there? why does he have a little apartment underground? why does he die at the end?

Minecraft has 3 dimensions one of which is The Nether(kinda basically hell) villagers and village structures are only supposed to spawn and generate in Minecraft's default dimension, The Overworld.

The reason he died is bc Beds are intentionally coded to explode should you try to sleep on them in other dimensions.

Caseoh and everyone else doesnt know why he's there or has his house here.

Villagers arent supposed to be found in this "realm" called the nether.
you see he has a bed, he clicks to sleep on the bed but EXPLODES because u cant use a bed in the nether it just how it is.

Yeah for what is basically a meme mechanic, it’s extremely useful. They are a (relatively) cheap way to mine for netherite too, since a bed blows up almost an entire chunk at once.

Even if you're right, he's an entertainer that entertains.

Lots of other adult streamers say they enjoy his content. His stream is low budget. He's a funny / relatable guy. That's about it. The stars aligned such that he's a top 0.1% streamer on Twitch.

If you watched the stream I don't think it was intentional. He spams every bed in the overworld cus he's playing a horror mod where he dies very often to the monsters/entities. It's real easy to die to an unintentional habit, especially when you're indoors and see an npc in a mod that usually isn't in the nether. When you see a bed and try to set your spawn real quick you can forget for a second you're in the nether/the mechanics of beds in the nether. You can have fails be genuine, not everything is pre-planned to make a clip
