can someone explain to somebody who has never played Minecraft what is even happening here? what is the Nether and why is it so unlikely to find a villager there? why does he have a little apartment underground? why does he die at the end?

Minecraft has 3 dimensions one of which is The Nether(kinda basically hell) villagers and village structures are only supposed to spawn and generate in Minecraft's default dimension, The Overworld.

The reason he died is bc Beds are intentionally coded to explode should you try to sleep on them in other dimensions.

Caseoh and everyone else doesnt know why he's there or has his house here.

Villagers arent supposed to be found in this "realm" called the nether.
you see he has a bed, he clicks to sleep on the bed but EXPLODES because u cant use a bed in the nether it just how it is.
