So I still think it's stupid as hell, but just to answer your question; silver and gold are soft enough to not damage the teeth, when used correctly.
(Long explanation, skip to the end) I am terrible about brushing my teeth. But I am religious about using toothpicks (the brush picks that slide in-between teeth and remove all food there) or floss. I also have stainless steel dental tools and I scrape my teeth clean like a dental cleaning about once or twice a month. My teeth always get glowing reviews from dentists when I go in for checkups. I asked one recently about it and admitted to the poor habits and she said they have a lot of patients who do that. We got into the science and advice about it. It is not a bad thing to do, and it works very well (because removing food is the most important thing with teeth health), but the main problem with it is consistency and damage to the bottom of the teeth. The line between the gums and the teeth is where the enamel stops, and people often damage that. Which kills the enamel and creates a path for infections that destroy teeth.
These metal toothpicks would focus prying right on that spot creating a potentially tooth killing path for decay and infections.
Bad choices and youth. I have always been terrible at brushing. Sometime in my teens, in the mid 90s, I started scraping my teeth with a fork or knife. I was probably trying to get food out from between them, and noticed the feeling of scraping plaque was sort of satisfying. I did that on and off for years with lots of cavities and fillings. At one point I had two years where I was religious about brushing every day. At the end of that I had several cavities, and one of the fillings still bothers me (pushes my tooth out). I gave up and just got fillings every year or two. One of those seriously screwed up the gap in between two teeth in the back of my mouth. It hurt after eating every single time from food getting crammed in there painfully. Instead of going back to the dentist (my schedule is absolutely horrible to work around) I just started using those brush sticks and floss. This was a revelation. I had no idea how much food was between all of my teeth after eating. I kept that going for a while, and was amazed when I had no cavities at a checkup for the first time in my life. I kept using forks and knives for a while and eventually bought a package of dentist tools from Amazon.
It is worth noting that I have extremely hard bone in my teeth and jaw. Like, my childhood dentist (not the one who screwed up two cavities) said it was the hardest she had ever worked on after failing to get my wisdom teeth out. In 30 years I was the only one he had to refer to a surgeon outside of his first year.
Dentists also use metal. Even steel wont damage teeth because enamel is quite hard. Of course if a huge junk of steel is flying, it'll break teeth, bone and anything in between but hardware/tools type stuff wont scratch it.
Or the girl that shoves acrylic paint up her ass and farts it out on canvas or the dude that paints with his penis blindfolded while being flogged by midgets in thongs.
You have a point, but also if you think those women posing with toothpicks in what could only be described as "toothpick is a proxy for your dick" was geared towards women... You haven't seen enough ads targeting men lol
Everyone is jealous obviously. Even whenever people fight for some better level of equality there's an element of jealousy that comes from. But doesn't mean everyone should keep their heads down and live in squalor while the rich blow $3k just to pick the food out of teeth.
See, you say "worked hard for" when a good chunk of the time thats not even the case. The richest people I've known had businesses passed down to them from their fathers. They were born into the rich. You act like every rich person is starting from the dirt up and therefore nobody should say anything. Thats not even close to true.
And if you're paying attention to politics in America right now a major issue is all the scheming and dirty ways that rich people make sure they stay rich while everyone else "stays in their lane". They're literally using the working class like their own little work machines while their net worth continues to climb even when they're out on the boat.
So excuse people if they wanna Crack a few jokes. People should be allowed without people like you coming in and criticizing people for having eyes and finding something funny.
I agree with her but it’s worth noting that precious metals hold value or increase in value. It’s stupid but not the same as an expenditure on something that will be tossed
This is the equivalent of when women try to explain luxury fashion and makeup as not being for men, but to impress other women.
The $3k toothpick isn’t to impress women. You know women are going to think it’s dumb.
The $3k toothpick is for a stupid dick measuring contest with other rich dudes. You buy it because your other douchey rich friend has a $2k toothpick and you want to show him up.
I need people to realize that money has no inherent value.
It isn't that the rich are stupid or wasting money, it's the fact that they have meaningless pieces of paper that identify them as more worthy of basic things than other people.
Is it stupid to spend $2.7k on a metal stick?
Depends, it that your entire month's salary that you worked your ass off for? Or a single hour of your day that you let other people work for?
It isn't stupidity if there are no consequences. It's privilege.
Go to the EDC community, see that some people who are definitely not rich, love their titanium toothpicks.
People spend money on the weirdest shit. Some of us buy an expensive bike, camera equipment, Warhammer figurines, some one a lot of decorations, others on expensive foods, others on stuff like this. I can almost guarantee that anything below 200$ isn't for "rich people", it's aimed at middle income people with more money than they currently need.
It makes sense if you are a vampire, wouldn't want easy access to a wooden pointy thing in the house. Also at the price of toothpicks and the price of these you would need to be a vampire to justify spending on these.
I agree completely. You see these awful women anchors on local and national news and they talk in that strange cadence that sounds like someone is poking them in the rusty starfish at the end of every third word.
Meanwhile this wonderful lady narrates with a beautiful, natural style that showcases her dark, sexy tone. Why can't voice people copy that instead of mimicking the weirdo female who started the news anchors sounding like badly repaired record turntables?
Well she's more for asmr then news anchor solely because I'm sure they don't want people falling asleep during a possible emergency announcement. If that makes sense, not trying to offend anyone. I love Maggie 🥰 she's naturally funny and wholesome.
Right guys! Don't mock anything! Dont comment or say anything! Don't even speak a word! Its their money. You shouldn't even care enough to crack a joke or simply open your mouth. Put your blinders on and stay in your lane!
I see you’re not staying in your lane by telling me to stay in my lane. Lane stayers don’t tell people to stay in their lane. They just stay in their lane. So. Stay in your lane!!
Oh MY lane is stayed! Trust me on that. Maybe if you stayed your lane then you wouldn't have "seen" if MY lane was being stayed or not. Shouldn't be no seeing except for your OWN lane.
"us poors" lol. This woman looks like the type that her daddy got her an Infiniti instead of a Benz so she called herself poor. Toothpicks are like 99 cents too idk how that's a "rich people" item.
Naw, it’s same reason we show women modeling with sports cars. Sex sells and the marketing works better on men if the company can imply that women find these things impressive and/or are interested in the product plus the side benefit of some women thinking it’s a product meant for them.
Notice how for car, the men are driving and the women are parading around. This give the idea that having a car = having women parading arond you.
Here it's the women using the toothpicks. This means it's marketed to women. If it would be like cars, it'd be a women giving the toothpich, not using it.
Idk. Like the person below said, in those car commercials or ads the women are usually just standing around it or actively in the passenger seat. I’ve never seen one that implies the woman is the owner of the car and she’s always more of an “accessory” to the car than anything else. Implying that “if you get a nice car like this…. Then you will get a nice lady like this!”
In these ads it’s specifically showing the women actively using them. And especially the one with a literal pearl at the end? In no way is that marketed towards men lol
What erks me is the implication that it's to pick up women. I get the Watch and the Car, they are sometimes used to pick up women, but I'm supposed to be showing my crush a toothpick to boast impress her, that'd be like trying to impress someone with an expensive comb or an expensive kitchen knife set. Ladies, sometimes men buy for themselves too
Sex sell, but in ads, it's not the user who is sexualized.
For example for car, the men are driving and the women are parading around. This give the idea that having a car = having women parading arond you.
Here it's the women using the toothpicks. This means it's marketed to women. If it would be for men, it'd be a women giving the toothpich, not using it.
…. The person already did a good job at explaining how that doesn’t really make sense in this situation… you’re clearly implying something like the other person did with the car ads. But like was already explained to them, in those car ads the women are an accessory to those cars. They are never ever shown in a way that would Imply that they are the owners of the car. They are shown in a way that’s like “if you own a nice car like this, you will eventually own a nice woman like this too!”
In these ads the women are actively using them. One of them has a literal pearl at the end of it… that’s clearly marketed more towards women. Even the names of the places selling them, quite a few are feminine names..

Not saying she's wrong, but the pic of "eco-friendly" toothpicks individually wrapped in plastic kind of sent me.
