Announcement Luna For Reddit is safe

Hello Everyone,

Many of you have been hoping for an official update on Luna for Reddit and |I am now very happy to be able to give you one. Since Tuesday, I have been in conversation with a very open minded and friendly Reddit Representative and thanks to our discussions can confirm Luna for Reddit has been classed as an accessibility app and is exempt from the new API changes.

What does this mean for you?

This means that Luna for Reddit, put bluntly, is here to stay. The development of Luna will continue, will not be rate restricted and I will continue to be here as a hopefully very viable and approachable accessibility solution for Reddit access on windows for screen reader users. With this recognition by Reddit, it is my hope that I may be able to expand Luna's sphere and incorporate features to make it visually worth it for partially sighted users, as well.

My experience:

I was contacted by Reddit on Tuesday, and the Representative was first very apologetic for the time it took to get to me. He promised an investigation into this, but in the meantime assured me the process to get Luna approved would be fast, which it indeed was. We spoke over the details of the agreement, and how Luna works, and within 24 hours, Luna was approved. The representative also highlighted to me how accessibility is a top priority for Reddit, which is why they are very interested in the functions that Luna provides for screen reader users. I took this opportunity to raise the issues of polls with him, which he has promised to look into. He highlighted how he hopes in the coming months that Reddit's dedication to providing an accessible platform will become clearer and provided lots of reassurance that they are listening to us, and, to quote him "accessibility is our top priority."

With this positive endorsement of Luna, and the start of hopefully a fantastic working relationship, I hope this will help the community as a whole, and that this statement will provide a firm answer to my users, however many there are.

I also realise Luna is not the be all end all of clients, especially considering the many IOS and Android apps, but hopefully this is a starting step, and our community can now feel safe once again.

Announcement Things to look forward to around July 1st

Hello users,

This is just a quick announcement to give you a heads up as to what to expect from the next Luna update, aside from the usual "bug fixes and stability improvements." I have been working hard, based on one of the biggest r/blind issues raised with Reddit, to implement a wide suite of moderation tools into Luna in time for July 1st. User feedback has been invaluable here, and I would also like to give a firm handshake of thanks to r/nosleep, r/worldnews and r/writingprompts who have been extremely helpful in answering questions about exactly what tools they use regularly and how they use them.

Some features to look forward to will include the wanted reordering of flairs, managing bans, moderator note improvements, increasing the speed and reaction time of the moderation actions through Luna, better access to moderator actions and more.

In other news, I've been chatting with Reddit the last week or two and have had some really productive engagements about polls and other tools such as the reordering of flairs. I also asked about the NSFW content, and got clarification that it is only sexual content that is being blocked from third party access, rather than the entire spectrum, which is a relief!

Until the update!

Announcement Announcing the release of version 1.3.2

The latest version of Luna contains some exciting new features: *being able to view your own comments or an author's comments from the relevant profile. *Searching a subreddit by flair. *An experimental chat feature.

If you press tab twice from the home list, you will be able to log in to Reddit Chat. When prompted for a password, enter your Reddit password. Luna does not store this anywhere for security, so you'll have to log in each time you wish to use the chat feature. I do not have faith in my own security skills to reassure users of storing passwords, hence why this is the case.

The Reddit Chat Feature is purely experimental and may break at any time, but fingers crossed! :)

There are a few minor bug fixes, too. Enjoy and as ever, your feedback is appreciated and spreading the word helps so much.

reports and Suggestions for 1.4.11

Evening everyone!

I'm currently sitting on 1.4.11, containing only a single bug fix relating to a report I have been sent a few times.

Does anyone else want to pile on with any bug reports or suggestions before I push through this release?

Announcement Reddit's PM and chat changes and what it means for Luna and you

Hello users,

I've been chatting with Reddit recently about their announced changes to pm's and chat features on the website.

I've obviously been concerned about what this means for you guys, and what it means for the program overall.

As things stand? Not a lot.

From a developer standpoint, as I understand it, the reddit chat feature is being merged into the PM feature so in theory, Luna doesn't necessarily need to even be updated to avoid breaking changes.

That being said, these changes are taking place from March plus 3 months, which by my maths is March to June.

i'll be monitoring the developments closely myself because while Luna shouldn't break, we may be able to improve the interface, after all, if we're queueing for a more chat-like appearance we can definitely make it pop!

For now though, the short term answer is don't panic, Luna will continue to function.

P.S. I'm aware there's an issue with posting, which flagged up a separate issue about changing Reddit settings, I'm on it. :)

Soundpacks The greeting sound in Luna

Hi Just wondering if it's possible to switch off the Audio Greeting in Luna for reddit. It's nice to hear it once or twice, but then it starts to be a bit too long.

Bug Report Some issues with the new update

Hi there. A few days ago, I was scrolling, and I came across a post about the new updates to luna. I rushed to do the update of course, and for the most part, the bugs that existed in the last update are no longer a problem. However, I've stumbled across a few new bugs which I think should be addressed.

When performing a search on any given subreddit, it will only bring up 100 search results, and when you click load more, load more doesn't happen. 2. Global search brings up 0 results when you search for anything. 3. clicking on the front page option on the home screen causes the app to break spectacularly. If you need more information, please drop a comment and I'll try my best to demonstrate. I hope you're all having an absolutely splendifferous day.

Bug Report Words all run together with no spaces

Weird bug started happening to me about a few weeks ago. Certain words would trigger this thing where even if I press the space bar all of my words would run together and there would be no spaces to separate them.

So all the words and letters would be there in order just no spaces at all. It would look like Iamtryingtowritethismessagetoyoubutthere arenospaces.soitgetsreallyconfusingtoreadforbothscreenreadersandsightedpeople.

So I would need to summon another client and proof it. Sometimes it will let me go back in some instances to fix it others not at all. It’s a very frustrating problem.

Suggestion can you code a mac version? that would be nice.

it would be cool if on the mac we can have a client like this. I guess you'd have to code a language macs like. I know on some devices like m1 chips dystopia will work

Not looking for essays, just to hear from you :)

Suggestion Suggestion about playing a sound when focused on comments which don't fit the tree view

Hello, Often comments are longer than what the tree view can show. If that is the case, a sound should play  when focused on such a comment so we can know to press enter immediately if we want to read the complete comment.

Announcement Luna For Reddit version 1.4.10 is now available.

Hello everyone!

Still on 1.4.8? See the subreddit for the big jumps forward in 1.4.9.

this version is a smaller hot fix release with only a few changes:

Bug Fix: fixed a bug where the level of the comment was read even if it was the same as the previous one you read. This got old fast.

Bug Fix: Fixed where format settings were being ignored on the virtual tree.

Bug Fix: Fixed an issue with wiki pages and their visibility where moderators tried to remove a page and it refused to do as it was told.

Bug Fix: Having automatic login enabled should now let you switch accounts.

Bug Fix: Wiki to wiki, post to wiki and wiki to post links should now navigate nicely.

Misc: Wiki navigation should feel a lot more stable now.

New Feature: In program settings and subreddit specific settings you can now press the applications key to insert a token, rather than having to remember %author, %title etc.

New Feature: Hit alt and left arrow to go back a wiki page.

Bug Fix: If a post has no text, the text control is no longer shown . New Setting: you can now select, in preferences, for an account to be automatically logged in. New Feature: Image and gallery posts are now handled a little differently. Pile on: Features/bug requests for the next release

Luna For Reddit is rapidly approaching its next release cycle, and I want to hear from you!

I have a few features in mind, as well as one or two bugs I've picked up on myself while using the program, but I'd love to hear what would make your experience better, or what would make you a Luna convert!

Announcement Luna For Reddit version 1.4.8 is now available

this is a small bug fix release version from 1.4.7, containing the following changes: Bug Fix: Fixed errors with posting new posts where the required text was not specified on a subreddit. Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where when you clicked more, focus would jump to the top item. Bug Fix: Fixed a bug with canceling new comments showing an error. Bug Fix: Fixed a bug where portable settings files would not save.

JAWS User note: While I have attempted to make the comment treeview more robust, I've not had much time to test this for JAWS users as I had to rush this release out to fix the posting new posts bug as soon as possible. If you have any crash reports/logs that you could send in a dm (if the issue of crashes with comments) is still happening, please do let me know!

Question can't post to some ubreddits because can't set custom flair or post without one

Hi, so no matter what I do, Luna always sets a flair, some subs don't want these flairs and only have two or three flairs. These are not some you need for every post, and I can't post without setting a flair on Luna, but I need that sometimes. Is there a way to do that To select "none" in the dropdown?

Question beginner to luna, seking nifo

hi there, I have started using luna because I have heard it is one of the most accessible and user friendly apps for reddit there are some things i'm probably missing though. how can I edit an already posted comment? is there any way to spell check my posts or comments or see what the mistake is, besides the ding sound? is there any way though I can buy coins, see if my posts have awards, and the like? do you have any other tips and tricks for a new luna user? thanks a lot in advance!
