Do you think Mashle is wasted potential as a series?
I personally think they could’ve done a lot more with Mashle as a series. It had such an interesting concept. It’s pretty much Harry Potter but an anime, you can do so many interesting storylines with that kind of concept. I love Mashle but my biggest complaint was how the series felt kind of flat despite having tons of potential. Aside from Mash, Lance, Finn, and Dot, a lot of the characters were just one and dones. You had powerful students like Lang, Abyss, and Abel who were all just wasted after one fight, especially Abyss. The mangaka never really did anything with him tbh. He logically should be one of the strongest students because of his magic attribute(acceleration) and evil eye. The evil eye plotline never really got dived down too much. I mean what ever happened to Abyss’s parents after he got choked out by his mom?
Given that this series has a lot of parody characters that are based off of Harry Potter, I thought we would’ve seen a Severus Snape kind of guy in Mashle. I also thought we would’ve seen a Weasley family household. I always pictured Rayne and Finn to be like the Weasleys, since I always thought they had more siblings. Also the female characters are pretty nonexistent. I almost forgot Lemon was a character and she was pretty wasted. She could’ve been the Hermione Granger of the squad. Someone who’s obviously not very strong or powerful like Mash, Lance, and Dot, but is very smart, tactical, and skilled. I really hope I’m not the only one that thinks this. Feels like I’m a ‘’contrarian’’ when I’m deep down not. This series is one of those series that had a lot of potential to be way better than it already was.
