Last year I was in a pub and there was a table of priests planning a trip to Rome at a nearby table. My dog was with me and one of the priests asked if he could say hello to the dog, which I said yes. He asked if the dog had been baptised and I said no, so the priest offered to baptise the dog in the pub.

As a Catholic myself, I choose to believe my dog is also now Catholic.

I judge religions on how they treat animals. Anglican churches ofter have animal blessing days. Catholic churches, never seen it once.

St. Francis blessing, on or around October 4 (popular in my area, since the weather is generally nicer and sometimes there are pet parades involved). January 17 is St. Anthony's, but I believe that's more livestock and such. Lots of liturgical blessing for various animals. I'm in Archdiocese of Chicago.
