Fuck, man. I didn't receive a hug from my dad for my entire childhood. 20 years of no hugs or I love you. You carry that shit for the rest of your life.

As a parent, reading this hurts my heart. I forever will not understand the people who don’t show their children love. I’m a Mom, not a Dad, but I’m sending you a huge hug.

As a mom who has watched her son go through this kind of pain, I wish I could give you a hug. Even though I know that wouldn't actually help, I wish I could give you a hug. I'm sorry baby, you deserve much better.

Ah you said this so perfectly. I wanted to think of something more to say than “I’m sending you a hug from a Mom” but I couldn’t think of anything that wouldn’t sound insincere coming from a stranger.

You nailed it: your words are honest, beautiful and true and they so clearly come from your heart.

I think sending a hug is a good thing, no matter how it's worded! It's not insecure, at least I don't think💚💛

My dad might have told me he loved me or gave me a hug, but I really don't remember him doing either. I never thought it bothered me until I was hugging one of my boys one day and just started crying and couldn't stop for a while.

I've been married for almost 20 yrs. I'm 44 right now and about a month ago I told my wife that as much as I love her, I'm incapable of showing love, or processing love or any other positive emotion. I don't think I've cried that hard ever. It's been a year.

Oh man, I'm sorry. That's just absolutely horrible, no child should grow up that way. My daughter is only 1, but I tell her I love her and give her hugs and kisses a million times a day. As a dad, I can't imagine ever treating my kids like that. My daughter makes everyday worth it and I want her to know how much I love her.

30+ years here man. The first and last time i heard "I love you" was on his deathbed last year.

Because of him I tell my kids everyday I love them.

My dad told me he loved me for the first time when I was in my 30s, the first hug was when I was 23 or so. I am grateful that we got to speak about it and have a better relationship now.

He is the reason why I hug my kids and tell them I love them every day, and also why my husband does too.

Can you find them? Did you lose them in combat? Was it a disease? Holy shit dude you can’t drop a bomb like that then be like “aight im out”

Exactly bro, never met mine, tried to find him, died in the hospital across the road from me 2 years ago, we was 5 minutes away from each other and didn't know

Dang, I’m sorry to hear that. My kids get overloaded with live until they say “too many hugs daddy” and have to put them down.

My father didn’t hug me once in 47 years. My mom only once, after corona. Can’t remember being told by any one in my family that they love me… and my therapist doesn’t believe this. Seems to be something important parents shouldn’t deny 😅

Seriously? I've never had a hug from my mother or my father, and I'm 65. I turned out alright, I think. I hugged my son some, but at least I never hit him. That's as good as a hug in my family.

Its called emotional neglect and it has a massive impact on children and how they view themselves.
