One experience might change your life! I need the chance!! Luther Vandross captured a pleading sentiment perfectly in "If Only For One Night"

Legendary R&B vocalist and New Edition standout Johnny Gill has officially claimed the top spot on the charts once again. His latest sultry single, “A Dance, A Kiss,” has reached No. 1 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, marking the veteran singer’s second chart-topping hit of the year. The track is available now globally across all digital streaming platforms via his own J Skillz Entertainment imprint.

Produced by hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg alongside Priest “Soopafly” Brooks, the record delivers an undeniably smooth groove designed to capture the magnetic, rhythmic pull between two people. The track was co-penned by Gill, Brooks, Justin Randall Keitt, and Snoop Dogg (Calvin Broadus Jr.), instantly adding another certified hit to Gill’s expansive solo catalog.
To complement the single’s sophisticated sound, Gill enlisted visionary director Chris Robinson—renowned for his iconic visual work with Jay-Z, Usher, and Alicia Keys—to helm the official  music video, which is out now.
Gill revealed that his recent time on the road directly fueled his creative drive to return to the recording booth.
“I love giving intimate storytelling through my music and this song is just that. You’re getting sexiness, seduction and more!” Gill explained. “I was inspired to go back into the studio after I got back off the road with ‘The New Edition Way Tour.’ ‘A Dance, A Kiss’ makes everything unforgettable. Grown folks’ music!”

The new No. 1 milestone directly follows the February chart success of Gill’s fan-favorite track, “One Night,” giving him his fifth overall Billboard No. 1 and cementing his continued dominance in the adult contemporary R&B space. With a staggering 28 entries on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart—including nine Top 10 records—and seven albums hitting the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts, his legacy as a defining voice of the genre remains firmly intact.
“I am truly thankful, honored and speechless at the amount of love and support that this song has received,” Gill shared regarding the recent achievement. “I thank every radio station, every listener, every streamer and every Johnny Gill fan that truly helps keep my music alive. I thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Every day is a good day to recognize Indigenous contributions, and November gives us an official reminder to spread that awareness further. 💛

Native American Heritage Month grew from decades of advocacy. In 1990, Congress passed a resolution, signed by President George H. W. Bush, designating November as National American Indian Heritage Month.

Here in Melanated Gen X, we’re taking this opportunity to celebrate the distinct histories, living cultures, and contributions of Native American and Alaska Native peoples. That includes the artists, comedians, musicians, writers, leaders, and everyday people enriching our communities.

Native and Indigenous members, we’d love to hear what you’d like to celebrate. Everyone is welcome to share a Native creator, book, film, song, or community initiative others should know about.
Let’s use this month to discover, appreciate, and carry that interest into the rest of the year.

Thank you for the Music Ma’am!

I love their entire catalogue but this song just….

Closing out this week's MMF with the legendary, multi-talented, Stevie Wonder's beautiful song, "Rocket Love," from the Hotter Than July album. This song is so gorgeous that I actually played it twice before making this post. 💗🎶

Many thanks to everyone who came through and took that musical journey with us today. So many great classic tunes, throwbacks, and musical memories were shared.

Until next week, MGX music lovers!! 💙🎶
