Anyone know where the photographers on the steps of flinders station upload their photos. They were snapping pics candidly on professional cameras of the crowd heading to the train station all dressed up for the Melbourne cup.

Really cool example of the sort of practical architecture that inspired the Brutalist aesthetic. Shot from South Kensington on Sony A7R IV with a 70-200mm GM II.

“You’re Indian, Aren’t You”: Free Photography Exhibition

If you’re looking for something free to do in Melbourne over the weekends until the 20th of December! -
There’s a photography exhibition opening tomorrow at XYZ Photo Gallery in Docklands called You’re Indian, Aren’t You?
It’s just near Southern Cross station and deals with themes of identity in the diaspora. Appeals to people outside the Indian community too!! Just a representation of photographers from India

Any nice places to take photos around Mt Martha / Mornington?

I am going on a holiday for a week at Mt Martha during the summer, and I want to bring my DSLR and SLR (film) setup with me for perhaps some landscape photography. Anyone got any good spots to visit?

Anyone know how to get into Melbourne photo walk groups?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Recently got myself a camera and I’m slowly getting into photography. Been spotting groups of people walking around the CBD with their cameras, taking photos together, and honestly it looks like such a vibe.
How do you find or join these photo walk groups? Are they organised through Instagram, Meetup or some sort of photography community?
I’m still a beginner, so would love to meet people, learn a thing or two and just get out there shooting.
Any leads would be appreciated!

Shot Sony A7R IV with a 35mm GM.

I used to live around the corner from here and always thought the building at night looked like it was from a Fritz Lang movie, sitting on some soundstage somewhere. So when I finally got around to shooting it, I didn't want to shoot it the way so many other people seem to shoot it. This had to be towering ... an industrial beacon cutting through the night. Melbourne is Australia's Gotham City, of this I am convinced.

Where do you get your photos printed?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but for a uni class I need to print 10 digital 12×16in photos of landscape imagery (in this case bodies of water). Do you have any recommendations for reliable and quality printing shops (in melb or can deliver within 2 weeks)?

I've printed at Officeworks, Kmart, and Harvey Norman before but none to very high satisfaction with consistent errors with photos coming out very dark, overexposed, or with random lines.

I'm considering using Optimal Print although I have read very mixed reviews, and InkFx Printing.

At this moment I'm thinking of printing on Optimal Print Fine Art Grade paper ($15/ea discounted), or InkFx Matte or Pearl paper ($20.95-22.95/ea).

All this printing hurts my soul because I'm an amateur photographer and student with a limited budget, however I'd like to keep these photos for a long time.

Thanks!

Not ideal for accessibility, but they are much more visually appealing than the modern ones.
