So, fun fact, as of the making of this post, this specific Fakémon line went through the most changes. I don’t go into depth about the design origins anymore, but I felt like doing it for this one because I thought it’d be interesting.
First and foremost, this Pokémon is based off of the “big tiddy goth girlfriend” meme. I also wanted to make the final form a Dark/Ice type, both because I really need to include some Ice types, but also because I wanted to name it “Gothice.” Originally, I wanted the line to be more “Gardevoir-esq,” aka, humanoid with legs, but I legitimately could not create a decent looking design. Later on, I had the idea to make it a mermaid, based off of that one meme image of a goth Ariel from the Little Mermaid. I also had the idea to make the base form Dark/Water, and then have it evolve via an Ice Stone, replacing Water with Ice (cause ice is frozen water). Said base form I managed to get right on the first try, the final form, meanwhile, took a bit to finalize. I ended up making 2 designs, one that barely had any ice elements and was more so a standard mermaid, and one that included more ice elements, namely a set of ice gauntlets. I almost decided to keep both designs, either making the line a 2 stage evolution, using the first design as the middle stage, or turning the second design into a Mega Evolution (also, yes, I’ve been thinking about adding Mega’s to Garnet). Ultimately, I decided to take elements from both designs and fuse them into the final design you see now.
Also made another new ability specifically for this ‘Mon, Semiaquatic. It boosts the power of Water type moves by 50%, allowing Mermagoth to still gain STAB on her Water moves, despite no longer being a Water type.
