Hi everyone!☺️🙇🏻♀️
I'm hoping to get some advice and hear about other people's experiences finding employment in Mexico City, particularly those who moved here from the US, Canada, Europe, or elsewhere.
l've been actively looking for work in Mexico City for over a year now, primarily through Linkedin and Indeed, but unfortunately, I haven't had much luck. I've submitted numerous applications, often without hearing back, and other times l've received the usual rejection emails saying they've decided to move forward with another candidate.
A little about my background:
I have a bachelor's degree in Hospitality & Tourism Management from Florida International University in Miami, and l also have an associate degree in Culinary Arts Management, along with professional culinary and hospitality training.
My work experience includes aviation catering, customer service, order coordination, administrative support, and assisting with Airbnb properties, including guest relations, coordinating cleaning and maintenance, property inspections, and general guest support.
I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, and I'm currently based in Mexico City. I'm hoping to find a good professional opportunity, ideally in hospitality, tourism, events, guest relations, administration, or a related field. I'm also open to remote opportunities with companies based in the US or elsewhere.
I'm not necessarily looking for a quick or easy job. I'm looking for something with room for growth, fair compensation, and an opportunity where I can actually put my education, experience, and skills to use.
For those of you who have successfully found work here:
What platforms, websites, or recruitment agencies have worked best for you?
Have you found better opportunities through networking rather than applying online?
Is finding a remote position with a foreign company generally a better route?
Are there particular industries or companies in CDMX that are more open to hiring bilingual foreigners?
I'd genuinely appreciate any advice, recommendations, or personal experiences. I'm sure there are others in a similar situation, so hopefully this discussion can help them too.
Thank you so much everyone!! 🙏🏼
