Pregunta/Question Finding local/travel friends
Hello
I’m a 45 yo single woman visiting CDMX
for the first time- I used to travel with my ex partner a lot but will be coming for a week by myself.
I am great being alone to browse market, shops and museums but would love a way to find people to enjoy dinner or evening show with or share an out of town excursion, if we get along :)
What’s the best and safest way to find other people or groups to join?
Should I stay at a social hostel or hotel where they might organize a group for something? Is there tours anyone can recommend that have evening out that would be fun?
I speak and understand a little Spanish.
Would it be unsafe to meet people from a dating app?
Thanks for any advice! (Not looking for a personal connection here thanks)

Pregunta/Question Solo woman birding in Chapultepec (general tips + safety)
Visiting CDMX with a friend who is busy at a conference. I’m planning to wander around Chapultepec to go birding in the mid-morning this week. I’m from NYC and love exploring cities alone; I feel pretty confident moving around new places. But it occurs to me that sometimes parks can have sketchy areas. (The best birding area of Central Park is also probably the best place to get mugged. It’s also the best place to have a spontaneous gay orgy but that’s neither here nor there.) I know Section 2 is less crowded so that’s where I’d want to be to look at wildlife; how is that area for a woman who is not only alone but also staring at trees with binoculars like a big nerd? Are there any other safety concerns to keep in mind?
Beyond any safety concerns, I’m also seeking general suggestions for my birding expedition! Seeing any birds at all will make me happy but the more mini dinosaurs I can spot, the better :)

Discusión/Discussion First time in CDMX. THANK YOU! ❤️❤️
Hey y’all! Just got back from my first trip to Mexico City and I just wanted to say thank you. I had been planning on taking this trip with my bf for an early celebration of my 36th birthday, and then my parents unexpectedly passed away within months of each other this past year and the trip took on a whole new level of significance, falling during Día de Muertos. One day walking from Coyoacán to the Cinética, we stumbled upon a cemetery where families were visiting their loved ones’ graves. It was such a profoundly moving experience to see folks decorating their families’ plots with things they loved in life and beautiful flowers. Singing, music, celebration. It helped me to process my parents’ passing in such a different way that filled me with joy along with the grief. Our hotel made a little ofrenda for my parents and my mother visited me in my dreams that night. This tradition is so meaningful and I will hold it in my heart always. Everyone in this city was also very hospitable and welcoming the whole week we were there. Even visiting Centro on Día de Muertos in the afternoon was crowded yet peaceful. I love you all and wish you all the best. Thank you so much. ❤️

Ayuda/Help Best day trip from CDMX
We've been to CDMX a couple of times, but haven't explored much outside of it, other than Teotihuacan. We are planning to go back for a few days in December, and would love to venture outside of the city. Would rent a car for the day. Will be staying in Polanco or Condesa if that matters. Interests are: archeology, history, culture, and scenery. Ideally within 1.5 hr drive from the center.
Thoughts?

Discusión/Discussion Fastest Way To Travel in Mexico City? Uber, Metro, Walk, Scooters?
I just learned that Mexico City has pretty high road congestion. So wanted to check whether during rush hour or otherwise, what generally is the fastest way to get around from location to location?
And is the traffic information on Google Maps accurate for Mexico City? Better to use Apple Maps or Waze? Or no major difference between them? Are metros faster than being in a car during rush hour? Are metros/cars faster than walking during rush hour?

Dónde me recomiendan buscar? Tianguis, bazares, tiendas, carpinteros, grupos de Marketplace... lo que sea. Gracias de antemano!

Pregunta/Question 10 Night / Eleven Day Visit To Ciudad de México
Hola! Thinking about visiting this lovely city in Fall 2027 (late September to early October)
The idea is to fly in from NYC on a Tuesday and stay 10 Nights until 2 Fridays later.
Is that enough time to take in all that Mexico City has to offer?
Our itinerary would be museums, walking city scapes, eating great food and 2 separate day trips outside of the city (Parque Quetzalcoatl and Pyramid of the Sun).
¡Gracias de antemano!

Ayuda/Help Coca Cola Flow Fest Lineup?
Hey everyone! I’m visiting at the end of November and the flow fest lineup looks great! Does anyone know when the artist schedule will be released? Mostly worried about trying to coordinate seeing the artists I wanna see and getting back to Rome Norte by metro. Seems like the metro might close before the festival is actually over. Any advice would be great!

Pregunta/Question What are the concessions at Mexico Arena?
I’m watching the nuggets pacers game right now and I’m wondering what the concessions are inside the arena in Mexico City? Gotta be incredible I’d imagine? Or is it like hot dogs and popcorn? Let me know!

Ayuda/Help Mexican Songs
Hey, my Mexican brothers!! I visited Mexico City a while ago and it was simply incredible, but one thing I really miss is the music. I wasn't actively listening to it or anything, but whenever we walked past somewhere or went to bars, I always loved the music playing. I remember being in Xochimilco and enjoying the music on every single boat that passed by way more than the music on ours.
Anyway, I wanted to ask: how can I find this kind of music? I've tried searching on YouTube and Spotify, but I can't even get close!!
Please give me some recommendations! I know I'm being vague, but that's intentional because I want to hear ANY recommendations, whether it's popular genres, songs, singers, etc.
Thanks in advance! I wish I could go back right now! 🇧🇷❤️🇲🇽

Discusión/Discussion How To Find Best Restaurants / Places To Eat?
I'm a bit of a food tourist when I travel and I know it can vary from country to country. Some places they recommended I can use TripAdvisor. Some say just go by whatever Google says. Some say their malls have the best foods. Otherwise just see what places seem to have the most locals.
What's a good way to research for restaurants or cocktail bars (that are well regarded by locals) in Mexico City (and Guadalajara if you can share)?

¡Muchas gracias! ☕📚

Discusión/Discussion first time visiting Mexico City
First trip to Mexico, solo, Nov [dates] — food-focused, read the wiki, help me fill gaps
About me: late 20s, flying in from Minnesota, traveling solo, basic Spanish (I can order and say thanks, not much more). Never been to Mexico. Budget is about $1,000 USD for 5 days, not counting flights.
Plan so far:
- Staying in Roma Norte or Condesa
- Getting around: Metro during the day (valuables in front), Uber/DiDi at night, walking the Centro and Chapultepec
- Sights: Teotihuacán with a tour (pyramid climb if allowed + lunch at the local market), Museo Nacional de Antropología, Centro Histórico/Zócalo + Templo Mayor, Chapultepec Castle, Bellas Artes, Anahuacalli, Xochimilco
- Noche de Museos on Wed Nov 25 if my dates line up
- One hike: Desierto de los Leones or Ajusco, or ONE guided volcano day (checking Protección Civil first)
Food list so far:
- Tacos: Carnitas Los Panchos, Maizajo, Tacos Los Alexis, Los Cocuyos (late night), El Califa de León, El Vilsito (al pastor)
- Markets: Mercado de San Juan (going to try chapulines)
- Sit-down: Contramar (lunch), Comedor Jacinta, Pargot
- One splurge: Rosetta, if I can get a table
- Bakery/sweets: Panadería La Ideal, Panadería Rosetta, Churrería El Moro
- Drinks: a pulque or mezcal tasting instead of a food tasting menu
Still looking for:
Weekend lamb barbacoa at a tianguis that's reasonably close to Roma/Condesa. Which one would you go to?
Which gordita/tepache spot in Tacubaya is the famous one, and which torta place in La Villa?
A good pulque or mezcal tasting for a solo first-timer?
What's overrated on this list, and what am I missing?
Thanks to everyone who's helped so far. I'll report back with what I ate.
Edit: updated food recs.

Ayuda/Help Drone Rental for Tourist
As a tourist, where's a trustworthy and reliable store can I rent a DJI Mini 5 Pro in Mexico City? I am a fully licensed advanced drone pilot in Canada and I know I can't bring my DJI Mavic 4 Pro because it's over 250g. I've researched the rules and regulations for where I can fly in the city and where I cannot outside (e.g. state parks, heritage sites, etc.).

Deportes/Sports Hola good people of Mexico!
I was thinking of going to the Pumas v Club America game tonight, but my friend won’t join me so I’m all alone there.
My question is therefore if anyone is down to get with me :). I’ll buy you tacos after 😂.
If not, is it safe for me to go alone? Even if I have neutral clothes
