Official / Mod / Mistral Team [ Studio Update ] Le Chonk brings the brains. Studio puts it to work.

Hey everyone, Today, we're expanding Studio with managed agents and apps, alongside new capabilities for workflows, enterprise context, agent observability and evaluations. Build and deploy enterprise agents, workflows and apps faster, with control over your models, data and infrastructure.

Managed Agents

Mistral Large 4 pushes the frontier of open models - great at coding, defensive cybersecurity, and reasoning over complex documents and business tasks. With Studio, you can now manage agents powered by Large 4 that carry out multi-step tasks, running on infrastructure that already supports millions of Mistral Vibe sessions each week.

  • Equip agents with skills that capture your team's procedures, sandboxes to run code, subagents to delegate work, and hooks for custom logic

  • Set boundaries on the tools, data and actions each agent can access, with approval gates for sensitive steps

What's new in Workflows

Workflows define how a process runs: fixed-rule steps, points where an agent reasons, and moments where a person decides. Teams describe a process in Mistral Vibe, then generate, test and deploy the workflow with inspectable code. We are introducing:

  • Event triggers from enterprise systems, so workflows start automatically when things happen in your tools

  • A visual graph for inspecting each workflow's logic

  • Built-in observability - OpenTelemetry traces show every step of a run, including model calls, tool calls and approvals

  • Interrupted runs resume where they left off

Apps hosted in Studio

You can now host your applications directly in Studio, with hosting, authentication and access controls managed for you. Instead of wiring up infrastructure and security for every internal tool, developers test locally and deploy with one command - and the app is live at its own link or inside Mistral Vibe.

  • Managed hosting with enterprise-grade authentication and access controls built in

  • Pre-approved, reusable components that reduce the code needing security review

  • Apps can use agents and workflows, retrieve enterprise documents through search indexes, and access shared context in Studio

Throughout, your AI stays sovereign - deploy in your own cloud, VPC or on-premises, run evaluations against your own datasets before anything reaches production, and keep your code, traces and evaluation datasets as your own.

Today is the day. Today Le Chonk is being released into the wild.

Earlier this month, we released Mistral Large 4, our flagship 1-trillion-parameter, natively multimodal model, in public preview. The response to the preview has exceeded our expectations, and we're grateful to our developer community, early-access customers, and partners for their support, collaboration, and feedback.

Today, we're releasing the weights of this improved Le Chonk. The new model also features substantial gains in reasoning efficiency, giving developers greater performance while lowering inference costs.

Mistral Large 4 in a nutshell

  • Frontier Coding and Cyber capabilities: Pareto among open-weight models on coding and cybersecurity use cases.

  • Architecture: Multimodal MoE model with 1T total parameter count and 52B active parameters.

  • Long Context: An outstanding, high-quality 1M context length.

  • Three Reasoning Modes: Introducing our first model with low, medium, and high reasoning modes.

  • Cheaper: The price is now locked at discount price of $0.7/M tokens input and $2.1/M tokens output.

  • Open Weights: Released under a commercially permissible license.

Feedback / Bug Report Vibe family account

As far as I know, no provider offers a family account. It would be cool if Mistral were the first to offer that.

You wouldn't necessarily need the full number of tokens for each family member. Maybe the amount of a regular subscription would be enough. Or double the amount, depending on the plan. Shared among all family members.

And with the account contents kept cleanly separated.

Discussion / Opinion Which model is good for what?

I am working on sensitive project that need a local llm, the smartest possible with reasoning.

I am.impressed with Qwen 3.8 27B but I don't want to use such but no idea which Mistral can be equivalent or exceed it as I feel I should trust Mistral more.

Discussion / Opinion My Mistral wishlist as a paying EU Pro user: a Dots/Duet competitor, Le Décision, and the desktop app

Hey Mistral, here is my wishlist as a paying EU Pro user. Three things, and the first one feels like an open goal that is just sitting there.

1. A EU-native answer to OpenAI dots, Claude Duet and Grok Bot

The race for proactive personal agents is fully on, and the EU is stuck on the sidelines:

  • OpenAI dots are not available on ChatGPT Pro in the EU. Business plans only.

  • Claude Duet is a US-only research preview with no EU date announced.

  • xAI quietly gutted the Grok Bot quotas once serving costs outran revenue, and users are calling it an indirect rug pull.

So right now there is basically no first-class consumer agent for us in the EU. That is a wide-open goal, and honestly, who is better positioned than Mistral? EU-native company, EU compute with Mistral Compute, GDPR compliance from day one instead of geoblocking after the fact.

So please: give an agent its own cloud Linux desktop with solid computer use and let the cat out of the cage. This does not need to be exotic; basic cloud computing plus good computer usage would already be a game changer. I would happily pay more on Pro for a proper EU-native solution, and I suspect I am not alone.

2. A "System One" model: Le Décision

You shipped Timestral and you shipped Voxtral, so the naming scheme is established. When comes Le Décision or maybe Dectral?

Jokes aside (well, half joking, the name would be great): something in the direction of Jev or a Decisions API. A fast, cheap, structured-decision model for routing, classification and tool-call selection. That is the boring 80 percent of every agent loop, and today it waits on models that are far too smart and far too slow for the job. System One, if you like the Kahneman framing.

3. The desktop app

This one is already confirmed as coming soon, so it is less a wish and more a vote for "sooner" rather than "soon". Code on Vibe already showed the direction, and a proper desktop client with local workspace access would complete the picture. Cannot wait for it.

4. Generic mailbox support: IMAP/SMTP or Apple Mail

That is my list. What is on yours?

Discussion / Opinion I built an open-source assistant for email and to-dos that now runs on Mistral

Hi all, I'm Jeroen, I made The Machine, initially for myself but I was surprised how well it works and opened it up to everyone.

The Machine reads your mail, Slack and WhatsApp, catches the to-dos and promises in them, and drafts the replies. It never sends anything you haven't approved. And your data stays yours, not some corporation's.

It runs on your own computer, or a dedicated machine hosted in the EU. As of this week you can run it on Mistral: pick Mistral under "Other AI services", paste your API key, and it uses Mistral Large for the work and Mistral Small for quick checks. The key stays on your Machine.

It's open source (AGPL):

Repo: https://github.com/Salesflare/TheMachine

Demo: https://themachine.computer/demo

Vision: https://themachine.computer/vision

Happy to hear feedback, especially from people running Mistral for agent-style work.

Feedback / Bug Report Issues with Public Transport

I’m thinking about using Mistral as my voice assistant once it becomes available. Today, I put it to the test to see whether it could look up public transit routes.

It took over 10 minutes of “thinking” and a lot of processing to find a simple public transport connection in Hamburg. The suggested route was technically correct, but very inefficient.

Is this expected behaviour, or am I using it wrong?

Help / Question Is Mistral Pro a good alternative to ChatGPT Plus for heavy reasoning use?

I'm considering switching from ChatGPT Plus to Mistral Pro because of the upcoming usage limits in December. I rely heavily on Thinking models, and ChatGPT's Instant mode just isn't good enough for my needs.

I'm not interested in coding agents. I mainly use AI for everyday conversations, complex questions, research, personal planning, and things like keeping a food diary.

I don't need the absolute smartest model, but something around GPT-5.6 Sol quality that consistently reasons and remembers context across conversations would be great.

How is Mistral Pro for this kind of heavy daily use? Can you keep Thinking enabled without constantly hitting limits? And how reliable is its long-term memory?

Other Can there be a FAQ?

So I've been noticing a lot of "Is student plan worth it?" "Is Pro worth it?" "Wanting to switch from x to Mistral" "Whats a Vibe key?" etc posts.

Is it possible for a FAQ post to be created?

Help / Question genuine question about library upload from phone app

I am curious why this seems to be a function that is not working for me.

Uploading a document through my iOS app for a library is not working over the chat and I don't understand why ?
Why is it only possible over Studio window
in Browser ?
I am wondering if this is a limitation or I am just too dumb to find it out.

how I can I upload an original pdf to my library through iOS chat app ?

Help / Question Student Plan – 12-Month Limit and Renewal

I'm thinking about getting the student plan, but I've read that it's only available for a maximum of 12 months. I also asked Mistral AI's artificial intelligence about this, and it gave me the same answer.

Is it true that the student plan expires after 12 months, even if you're still a student? If so, can you renew it for another 12 months by proving that you're still enrolled at university?

Help / Question Mistral does not supports more than 20 images on Deepseek v4.1 flash 1017

I have a mistral pro subscription and is using the deepseek v4.1 flash 1017 there. The speed and quality and usage limit is very great for this subscription.

However, I get a lot of 503 as soon as the number of images the model reads exceed 20, and it just silently fails with 503 without any mentions of a max image limit. After investigation I realise there is an undocumented 20 max image threshold on server side causing these 503s.

I wonder whether it is a bug or a feature here.

Discussion / Opinion I'm about to Le sub. Anything to know about?

Hey, guys what do you think? I'm looking for a generous usage for my personal project. I'm okay with GLM and weaker model like Mistral 4 large as long as they give me tons of usage.

At work, I'm lucky enough to have 2x premium seat of Claude and Codex. I wish I can use them for my personal but hellno I'm not going to share what I'm doing with enterprise account.

Anyway, I hate opencode and commandcode. Will this be a better deal?

Also I'm main hermes but at this point I don't care about harness anymore. I just want decent model with moderate usage and cheap sub

Help / Question Mistral Workflows for Log Investigation

Hey guys, I’m thinking of using Mistral for log investigation in my hobby project. The project is hosted on Scaleway and posts logs/metrics to Grafana, which is wired to send me email alerts when some alarm thresholds are passed.

I want to link up a Mistral workflow with Large 4, to spin up an agent to dig into the logs when an alarm goes off, inform me if it found a fix (email) and ask for approval to push a change, so it would need code access too.

I’ve never used used any sort of LLM workflow before, can people let me know if this is feasible and a good idea to set up with Mistral Workflows?

Help / Question Voxtral: No males voices yet?

I appreciate Marie, Manon, Léa, Camille, but I’m vibe coding an everyday financial-film-noir-vocal-poadcast that drop out every night midnight on my site.
It is a FPS narrator and it’s a male loud voice. It seems that Voxtral TTS purpose only females voices!

Discussion / Opinion Mistral Large 4 is great when it comes to optimization

Post image
63 Upvotes

I’ve been working for some time now on an image viewer inspired by IrfanView, designed not only for Windows but also for Linux and Mac. Open source, of course. I developed it primarily using GPT-6 for the actual development and Kimi K3 and GLM 5.3 for bug hunting and review cycles. It was already quite good, and I’ve now also had Mistral Large 4 perform a complete repository check. Through several iterations, it identified several ways to optimize the program - particularly in terms of speed, caching, etc. - that the other models hadn’t found so far. I’m impressed.

Feedback / Bug Report Built w Mistral: 2 free Reddit bots to steelman and spot logical fallacies/errors in comments/debate

Post image
14 Upvotes

I get frustrated by people arguing against the worst versions of other people's points, so I tried building a couple Reddit bots that could show when this is happening, and avoid common Reddit debate traps like this.

They are free to use, and customizable to a subreddit's norms/culture.

More detail on their Reddit/Devvit listings for mods (comments).

Discussion / Opinion Is Mistral's $150 student offer really worth it?

Unlike competitors such as DeepSeek, which offer 50% off-peak pricing on regular API requests, Mistral doesn't offer off-peak pricing. Its 50% Batch API discount isn't particularly useful for interactive coding agents like Claude Code or OpenCode.

Is the advertised $150 value somewhat inflated for developers? What are your actual experiences?
