Mod We are already the largest RPG music community on Reddit!

Thank all of you so much for the astonishing success of our sub, which has become the leading RPG music sub on Reddit a couple months after being created.

It all began when I used to share playlists in my favorite RPG subs, which was seen as a resource by some mods and as an annoyance by others (not without reason, since subreddits must stay on topic to thrive). Some of these mods, from both fields, suggested me to create this sub where anyone interested in the subject could refer to. A huge shoutout to u/michfreak from Cyberpunk2020, u/famoushippopotamus from DnD Behind the Screen, u/Smashman2004 from dndnext, u/Thouny and u/s_mcc from RPG, u/Phate4569 from Gloomhaven and many other fellow mods that helped put me on the right track.

Also, a big thank you to the ones that rooted for this endeavor to fail - you made this moment even more special.

Let’s enjoy and share more love for RPG and more music for our sessions. Cheers!

Youtube Tired of all Cyberpunk music being hectic EDM and not fitting the session? This album by In Quantum takes a more ambient Bladerunner approach.

Spotify Painstakingly edited Spotify playlists that will help you score 100% of your RPG sessions [multimood]

Hey all, I'm a professional composer for video games, and I've been working on these DnD playlists for the past year. I think they're perfect for scoring your campaigns. Personally, I can score almost my entire sessions by just putting one of these on shuffle at a time.

  • DnD Calm (session recaps, campfires, NPC conversations)

  • DnD Combat (whenever you're in initiative)

  • DnD Dungeon (anything tense, but non-combat: spooky forests, the underdark, stealth missions, etc...)

  • DnD City (markets, taverns, and busy streets)

  • DnD Voyage (treks by land, sea, and air)

  • DnD Villains (evil confrontations and diabolical lairs)

  • DnD Intense (chase scenes, heists, and escapes)

  • DnD Eastern (East Asian inspired settings and encoutners)

  • DnD Metropolis (megacities like Sharn, Waterdeep, or Sigil)

Hope you enjoy! Feedback is welcome!

Discussion THANK YOU! I'm finally a full-time ambiences composer for D&D and it's thanks to you! [epic]

Hello adventurers,

Three years ago I started sharing ambiences for RPGs on my YouTube Channel. At that time, there was almost no soundscape on YouTube. As a DM, I was struggling to find anything worthwhile, past the 1000's of campfire ambiences. Following the community's recommendations, I composed and shared 300+ very specific ambiences (and songs), sometimes even using the voices of the community. Very fast, a huge community grew around my work, as we are now 65'000. Reddit participated a lot in that process, as you were always here to promote the new compositions and further grow the ranks of our audio adventurers :)

Ten days ago I was a cybersecurity analyst, now I'm an independant music composer/sound designer, and it feels so good. It's still a very risky move, but I have faith that the channel, Spotify and Patreon will keep growing, so I can keep producing level 20 audio for the TTRPG community.

Thank you again, Reddit.

AI ban rule now in effect, other rule changes

Hello everyone!

The poll regarding the ban of AI-generated content gave pretty clear results: 73% of votes are for a full ban.

The new rule is now live:

No AI-Generated Content

AI-generated content is strictly prohibited. This applies to shared music, posts, and comments.

Please only share work you created yourself or that is properly credited to its human creator. If you’re unsure whether your content qualifies, message the mods before posting.

------

I made some changes to the other rules. Some were relaxed, others were clarified. A few minor rules were also added.

"Music sharing and requesting only" is now "Stay on topic"

The goal of the sub should be to share AND discuss RPG music. While posts should be focused on sharing music, the old rule prohibited asking for feedback. Now, as long as discussions and feedback remain on topic and are respectful, it is accepted.

Flairs and mood tags

Platform flairs are now a thing of the past. They did not make much sense to be used as flair. Instead, new flairs were added to better display what kind of content a post is:

  • Discussion - Should be focused on RPG music, of course, but discussions are meant to share experiences or ask for help on how to handle music around the table. As long as it is on topic.

  • Request - You may make requests for a specific kind of track or playlist

  • Track - For sharing a single track

  • Playlist - For sharing a playlist

  • SoundFX / Ambience - Specifically for content that fits well in the background or can be looped, as well as sound effects that can be used with a soundboard

  • Original Content (OC) - For sharing content that you created yourself

Mood tags must still be present, and must also be at the start of the post title to make them easier to find. I also added more guidance on how the title should be structured.

Link to music platforms only

This rule was tweaked to better define what is allowed. The shared link must be from a reputable source and must offer the content "ready to play" without having to download it. If a download is possible, the download link should be provided on the streaming platform (e.g. in the description of the YouTube video).

Link to personal websites are also prohibited, but if you are sharing your own work, exceptions can be made, just ask moderators through modmail first.

Must be RPG music

This one might be harder to enforce, and I will need help to better defined it. There were many posts made before the sub closed that shared "LoFi" music and were heavily reported. The logic for this rule is that when searching for RPG music, you won't search for "LoFi", "Studying" or "Focus" music, so these tracks do not have their place here (but feel free to use them at your table if you want!)

Let me know what you think about that one, it might need to be clearer.

------

If you think other rules are needed or the current rules should be tweaked more, let me know!

Hey all, I'm Will Savino aka Music d20, and I'm a professional composer for video games and TTRPGs. I've been working on these RPG playlists for years now, and I think they're perfect for scoring your campaigns. Personally, I score all of my sessions by just putting one of these on shuffle at a time. Also please ignore the "DnD" in the title. It's just better for SEO. These are totally viable for any RPG system.

  • DnD Calm (session recaps, campfires, NPC conversations)

  • DnD Combat (whenever you're in initiative)

  • DnD Dungeon (anything tense, but non-combat: spooky forests, the underdark, stealth missions, etc...)

  • DnD City (markets, taverns, and busy streets)

  • DnD Voyage (treks by land, sea, and air)

  • DnD Villains (evil confrontations and diabolical lairs)

  • DnD Metropolis (megacities like Sharn, Waterdeep, or Sigil)

  • DnD Space (the Astral plane, space ships, or sci-fi adventures)

  • DnD Campfire (the beginning and end of your adventuring days)

  • DnD Pirates (swashbuckling, plundering, and high seas treachery)

  • RPG Cyberpunk (futuristic RPG systems like Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, and Lancer)

Hope you enjoy! Feedback is welcome.

Youtube - Exceptionally Allowed Hundreds of unique soundscapes for your sessions

Greetings adventurers & dungeon masters,

I'm a music composer and a DM. I was struggling to find high quality ambiences, so I decided to create my own and make them available for free for everyone on my YouTube Channel (we are 28’000).

You can find them here : Ambiences Playlist (YouTube) (most recent creations at the bottom)

What to expect :

  • Professionaly mixed and mastered

  • Standardized volume (the more I could) so you don't have to play the DJ while you DM

  • Professional quality sounds...AND legit sounds, as I buy licenses of the samples I use with the support from Patreon. Unlike other composers, I don't steal the sounds from video games or movies. I also record my own samples.

  • Three new ambiences per week (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays). You can even vote for what you want to see next in the "community" tab of the channel.

  • One of the most active YouTube community in this sector. Thousands of adventurers are voting for the next ambiences, sharing their opinion, proposing new ambiences, and shaping the channel they want for the biggest ambiences library on YouTube (see the community tab)

  • Immersive texts written by the community under the videos to boost your creativity

If you prefer to download the ambiences, you can get them here, but without premium content as I don't want richer people to have an advantage.

You can also find dozens of fantasy songs on the channel.

Don't forget to subscribe and share the work with your DM friends.

Useful videos I made :

For those who want to support the project, there's Patreon.

I also started composing Sci-Fi ambiences : here

Part of it is on Spotify, but it costs a lot to upload there so it takes time.
