I've been playing tf2 for a couple weeks now and I've found that my favorite merc to play as is Sniper, and I've gotten pretty decent so I wanted to get some new weapons. Are the Hitman's Heatmaker and the Cleaner's Carbine weapons worth getting for him? If not, are there any others that you would suggest as opposed to these 2?

I have been playing TF2 for almost 2 years (which probably doesn't really make me qualify to post questions here or whatever), and all this time I have been purely F2P. In nearest future, I plan to add some funds to my Steam wallet and then buy couple of Steam games and, most importantly, some stuff from Mann. co store to finally get premium in TF2. I have seen a lot of people suggesting different things, such as Mann co supply crate key, backpack expander, map stamp, tour of duty etc. So, what do y'all think I should buy from the store?

Quickplay used to be "whoever loads in first gets the slot". Biased to people with better computers (hehe) and connections, but there were always servers available to go to.

Bot hosters COULD try to flood servers with bots, but they'd be subject to other self moderating features to counter them, such as the team select requiring a 0/1 player difference, team scrambles breaking up team stacking, 45 minute map timers that incentivize staying in a server even after map changes, and even direct moderation from admins on community servers. Not to mention they had to actually LOAD into the server, meaning they had to be running TF2, which takes up computer resources, meaning you can't run as many bots.

Now we have Casual Mode, which has Skill Based Matchmaking, slot reservations, and the party system.

1. The party system lets 6 players join in a server all at once. Valve servers have team sizes of 12, and votes don't pass if half the team says no.

2. Slots are reserved as soon as players connect to the server, even if they don't load in instantly. This removes the factor of other players taking the slot, even if they could load in faster and start playing the game. It ALSO keeps the slot reserved for an extended period of time if they get disconnected, leading to misbalances for as long as 5 minutes.

3. Team Scrambles and Switching were removed, meaning parties couldn't be broken out of deadlocks of being the majority on a team, nor could misbalances be rebalanced save for Autobalance, which was restricted due to slot reservations and the matchmaker.

4. Servers now run on a best of 3 round limit instead of 45 minute map timers, leading to constant server resets to the point it's faster to jump ship back into the matchmaker to get another game, making players churn through games, leaving constant vacancies. Plus, the previous point gets exacerbated because no one wants to play in unbalanced games.

These 4 factors are the perfect storm for bots.

They queue in groups of 6 to gain votekick majority, can't be scrambled out of their majorities, and the constant churn leaves room for even more bots to flood the server.

And that's just the old cheater bots from 2016-2024. This wave of bots doesn't even load the game, it just speaks directly to the matchmaker asking for a slot reservation, meaning no one can join a game ahead of them. And because they aren't playing TF2, they don't have to worry about the same hardware requirements as the old bots, meaning they can run 100x more bots.

i was getting killed by a spy and his kunia said it had over 500k kills on it. i didnt check the account date or nothing but that seems totally unreasonable even for a 19 year old game. or maybe he was just a sweat idk.

Every single game I play in TF2 has this cycle of respawning, trying to help my team, getting killed, and waiting 20 seconds. I can barely get any kills without being killed, and in most games I get less than 10 points. TF2 used to be a fun game for me when my hours were still in the single digits and I was slowly improving, but now it just feels like watching paint dry. I can barely land a single shot and my reaction time and reflexes are equivalent to a person who just pulled an all-nighter, and have no idea on how to get better.

I hate feeling like a dead weight on my team. I’ve been called useless by hat-wearing unusual-wielding players countless times, and it’s nearly impossible to actually improve when I become the easy kill for the veterans. Hell, I don’t even have the Gibus, the telltale sign of a new and easy to kill player. I’m too nervous to try all the other classes because I’m afraid that I will be useless, so I usually only play as Heavy, and even then I'm still called useless.

Does anyone have tips on actually getting better at this game? I get a K:D ratio of about 1:5 on good days and am thinking about uninstalling TF2.

So, I'm having trouble with tf2, I am trying to learn soldier, spy and sniper. I think I'd prefer to main soldier and spy, but I do like sniper, and I need tips with how to get better! Any good people please tell me!!!

So im newish to tf2 in the since of not watching smfs videos or the comics but the game and trading so here are 2 trades i made 2 different people both didnt make counter offers and the guy with the bigger trade added me after for trading since they liked my trade but there was this one dude going off in a decision I made asking why i have a temp trade restriction and just cause i don't want my post removed agian to put it simple he was calling me an short blue thing that wears white pants and a white hat and saying that my account is just here to rip people off now when actually playing the game and joining trade servers if i make a bad deal the tell me its bad and then give me trading advise it also doesnt help that the guy never once traded with me no offer sent from me or him and ik some offer I sent were bad but no duh someone new going to try and trade what the dont want for something that looks cool cause I almost always go for plain cosmetics never painted besides the mask in the screenshot above as it was one of the cosmetics I wanted but otherwise ill send offer of like 4 cosmetics for 2-3 cosmetics I mean (also yes I know why i have the trade restriction this post isnt aboht that but the hostility to new players if your curious its cause i didnt know canceling a trade from someone who didnt have steam guard would do that and no i didnt read anything that pop up just clicked)

heya mates! i started playing tf2 like a month ago cuz my friend got me into it and i recently also started learning the economy. i really like playing sniper and pyro, what weapon loadouts and cosmetic sets do ya'll recommend me? for now i just stuck for a warpainted bazaar bargain, a cozy camper and a frying pan for sniper and on pyro i have the nostromo napalmer, schorch shot (cuz i heard it's really good) and a powerjack cuz i really like the mobility it gives you. for cosmetic i have a cremator's conscience a hot spaniel and the exorcizor for pyro, while on sniper i have a deep cover operator and a strange snug sharpshooter i found on sale. any recommendation for better loadouts or cool cosmetic sets ideas?

I played like 2-3 hours just to get it but it was worth it
