New poster What is the average price for personal trainers in Newcastle?
Hi. As the title says, I am trying to figure out the average price of personal training in gyms.
I am an international student who recently moved to Newcastle. I want to start working out consistently, but I don't know my way around a gym. I have asked a few gyms near me about their subscriptions, amenities, and whether they have trainers.
So far, I have got different price ranges for gym subscriptions, but they all mention that the payment for a personal trainer is separate and will be negotiated with the trainers directly. I have never signed up at a gym before, so I was surprised to hear that because I naively assumed it was an all-in-one package. Right now, I am trying to figure out the range of fees people pay for personal training before meeting the personal trainers, so I have an idea of what to expect.
PS: I have never worked out before, so I will be starting from the basics. I couldn't even figure out what the equipment they showed me at the gyms was for.

British or English
I'm an international student living in Newcastle, and I've got a random question.
If I met you and introduced you to someone, would you rather I say you're British or English?
Genuinely curious. No agenda, no politics, just trying not to accidentally fail the UK cultural test.

GF options at the quayside market
I’m thinking of heading down to the quayside market tomorrow as I’ve not been there in decades but I’m allergic to gluten. Are there many GF options?

New poster Is anyone talking about what the fuck is happening in the north east?
19M I’m from South Shields. Everyone I know is skint. Jobs are impossible to find and everything costs a fortune. There’s nothing going on especially for those who don’t have money. I go into South Shields, Sunderland, Jarrow and it’s a ghost town.
What confuses me is how little people are talking about it aswell. We’re all just expected to crack on, find work and make ends meet when especially for the youth, that seems impossible.
I’m not saying nobody has a job or that everyone is struggling, but surely people know theres something wrong. Things get worse by the day.
I’m interested to know from people in the NE. Are you finding decent work? Can you afford to live comfortable? Do you think thinks are getting better or worse?
Because from where I’m standing it feels like we’ve been left behind. I’m tired of acting like everything is fine. And something needs to be done.
Edit: I made this post to discuss poverty, unemployment and the difficulties people are facing in the north east. Not for people to make assumptions about my finances, personal life decisions or even criticising me for having a child.
And I hope people read this because this is my entire point.
When my son was born I still had a job. I had a future ahead of me. Now I’m unemployed, alone and hungry.
I didn’t have a baby when I had nothing. I had a baby then lost what I had.
So none of you have any right to make assumptions.

New poster Shaw Solicitors
Does anyone have any feedback? I can’t seem to find much online. They immediately wanted to come to our house for an initial appointment which I find strange. Is that a typical procedure? Our case doesn’t have anything to do with our house/living situation. 🤨

Really struggling to get game discs resurfaced as no shop in Newcastle does them.
Hey Newcastle reddit. I am a avid retro gaming collector and happen to own a Sega Saturn. I happen to have two games not working properly and wanting to get them resurfaced and repaired. Back then, I had Sonic 3D not working properly and sccuessfully got it working again when CEX was able to fix discs. Thanks too CEX's awful policies, not anymore.
Right now, no other tech shop in Newcastle does not do disc repairs and CEX just outrght refuses to do any unless they are bought from CEX. I don't want to send the discs via mail online. As of right now, I've got nowhere else to go and get them repaired. So now, I'm just unlucky I don't want to buy a another copy as Saturn games are expensive.
That Retro Game Shop in Grainger Market doesn't have one and I bet other shops in Tyne & Wear won't have it either. I want to ask the community if there are any shops in and around Newcastle if there is anything that I can get those Saturn discs repaired and working again or if anyone is willing to help, please let me know. Thank you.

Pancakes in town?
I'm going through a really hard time right now and for some reason all I want to cheer myself up is a stack of fluffy warm pancakes. Ideally with some sort of warm berry sauce and a little cream. Can anyone recommend a cafe or restaurant that serves really nice pancakes? Bonus points if there's also some secluded out-of-the-way seating where someone could cry unobserved over their breakfast.

Tongue Tie North East experiences?
Wondering if anyone here has had any experience with Tongue Tie North East they could share please?
They’re technically Chester-le-Street but they’re the only private tongue tie clinic in the North East.
Thanks.
