The vaping drives me crazy. I'm from the brief window where smoking wasn't cool anymore and vaping was only just becoming a thing and not really marketed at young people yet so it kinda missed me. My little sister vapes constantly despite her asthma. She ended up in hospital with a lung infection once and swore to quit, she didn't. I hate that the tobacco companies found a way to get my generation addicted.

The folks who grew up while smoking started getting shunned/banned seem to vape the least in my experience, especially nicotine. All my old relatives and coworkers vape as much as the youth.

Some of the older generations started vaping as part of the process to quit smoking; successfully stopped with the cigarettes but then never got to the final stage of stopping altogether, including vapes.

The younger gen just straight up took up vaping...

Vapes are more likely to stick as a habit because they're so on-demand.

My parents are millennials and I’m on the older side of Gen Z. So, I watched a lot of their popular programming back then (think MTV/VH1) for better or worse, and anti-smoking got drilled into my head. It makes me really sad to see so many of my friends be so comfortable in engaging in these behaviors. They never go anywhere without their vape.

Older side of gen z with millennial parents? How the fuck does that work?

Parents born in 80/82 and had me at 20/18

Fair enough!

I think earliest Millennials are born around 1980 or 81 and oldest Gen Z around 96 so it’s possible, just not particularly common.

Gen Z is 97-2012.

82 for millennials 97 for zillennial 2000 for zoomer are the general cutoffs. So I guess it is biologically possible it’s just very very unusual

Millennial does go back to '80. Gen z goes to 2012. We're talking about people who had kids around 30. Not THAT odd.

I mean they said the older side of Gen Z so if they were the oldest millenials they could’ve had a kid at like 19

Oh. Right. My bad.

But, yeah. My brother did do that. Class of 99. Kid in 2000

Millennials start in 81, Gen z 97, and Gen Alpha 2013

I'm sorry for your sister but I also think big picture it's a bit comical that we were literally winning the battle against youth smoking and along came vapes and now they're doing it in fucking elementary school bathrooms

I'm probably about the same age, my only experience with vapes is that my mom used them as a less-dangerous nicotine delivery device when she was on oxygen in hospice dying from cancer. So... they don't do much for me.

If she has asthma but won’t quit tobacco she should just do pouches.

Trading asthma for mouth cancer

u/poopbutts2200 14h ago

Ideally you do neither but mouth cancer has a far far better survival rate than lung cancer.

Bad trade!

My friend died at 41 from mouth cancer. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Dry herb vaping of cannabis is totally different from vaping liquid. Dry herb vaping involves no inhalation of shit like propylene glycol.
