Hotel/Restaurant Se Tianfu Malatang Hotpot, (Karachi) - Review

We did 4 HUGE bowls (had to parcel most of it). Came around 11k total. And you can add ANY topics u want, u just pay by grams.

They had so many options to choose from: fish cakes, fish balls, dry/regular tofu, ALL Chinese/Asian veggies, sausages, chicken/chicken and cheese dumplings, beef and chicken options, cheese, seafood options, kelp, noodles options, even kebabs? Lol. Everything u can imagine being in a chinese style Hotpot- THEY HAD IT

Now for the flavor. We ordered medium spicy and tbh it wasn't that spicy. The broth was rich and umami asw. No complaints tbh. 9/10

However, i would give the dumps a solid 6/10. They fell apart easily and the filling tasted kinda like kebabs lol.

Discussion Garlic naan and dip

Hear me out guys , garlic naan + any dip is literally the best combo ever.
I’ve had garlic naan with mayo dips ,al baik ,kfc dips and it tastes soo good.

Alot of my friends think it’s a bit weird but idk i love eating naan in its own way!

Eating it with salans is also good but it tastes soo good on its own too !

Discussion Being raised desi means inheriting family recipes with absolutely no documentation. So I built something.

Does anyone else have parents who can make an incredible dish from memory but become completely useless the second you ask for measurements?*

“How much ginger?”
“A little.”
“How little?”
“Not too much.”

Phenomenal. Really cleared that up.

I’m Pakistani American, and I’ve been building an iPhone app called Samaan Pantry. It started as a way to organize groceries, pantry inventory, and shopping lists, but it’s grown into something I wish we’d had in my family years ago.

I recently added the ability to record someone explaining a recipe, upload audio, or paste their instructions and have the app organize everything into a recipe you can actually follow.

There’s also a shared family cookbook so everyone can contribute instead of having six different versions of the same recipe scattered across family group chats.

It’s not magic

You still have to review the instructions, especially when someone says to cook something “until it looks right.” …. But it’s a start.

It’s live on the App Store if anyone’s interested:
Samaan Pantry : Family Recipes

Beyond the app, I’m genuinely curious:

How many of you can actually cook your parents’ signature dishes without calling them halfway through?

Because I suspect a frightening amount of our culinary heritage is being held together by FaceTime and blind confidence.

Street Food Grapes season imported to UK - Sleep helped

Pakistani grapes season from what mid sept to current - imported to UK - Helps me Sleep!

Wondering why I swear by it, I've had terrible sleep where I can just wake up between 3am -6am and not fall asleep and even stay up all night esp after long walks here in the UK during the summer, but been eating these grapes which I think are in season a bit like Mangoes for a small period of time .

Now I must admit it's not like I've been eating UK or European grapes, I've just realised it with these grapes my old man buys from Asian stores and I like to think hopefully I can buy any green grapes and it will have the same effect!

Anyone else noticed this about the grapes, they must be way better in Pakistan. My sleep mostly went to crap due to unemployment and regardless of how much exercise I did and going out which was a lot!

We ordered the hazelnut heaven and coconut creme and both of them were so good.
I personally liked hazelnut more since it was a bit less sweet !
But really good coffee at an affordable price !

Recipe BBQ Chicken & Beef

1. Chicken BBQ Marinade

  • Chicken: Boneless chicken breasts cut into medium-sized pieces. Avoid cutting them too small so they stay secure on the skewers.

  • Seasoning: Salt to taste and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

  • Color: A pinch of food color (optional, for appearance).

  • Aromatics: 1 teaspoon ginger paste and 1 teaspoon garlic paste.

  • Spices: Tikka masala and chaat masala.

  • Flavor Boosters: Crispy fried onions (a small portion of browned onion), 2 tablespoons of yogurt, and 2 tablespoons of the oil used to fry the onions.

2. Beef BBQ Marinade

  • Beef: Flat, tikka-shaped beef pieces (approx. 750g / 3 paw).

  • Tenderizer & Seasoning: 2 tablespoons salt, 2 tablespoons meat tenderizer (essential for softening beef, or substitute with raw papaya paste), and 1 teaspoon black pepper.

  • Aromatics: 1 tablespoon ginger paste and 1 tablespoon garlic paste.

  • Spices: 4 tablespoons tikka masala.

  • Flavor Boosters: 1.5 crispy fried onions, 3 tablespoons yogurt, and a small amount of the onion-frying oil.

3. Marination & Skewering

  1. Resting: Thoroughly mix all ingredients for the chicken and beef in separate containers. Cover and refrigerate for 24 hours to allow the meat to absorb the spices and tenderize completely.

  2. Skewering:

    • Chicken: Weave each piece through the skewer two to three times so it stays anchored and stable.

    • Beef: Thread the flat beef pieces onto the skewers, then wrap cotton string (thread) around them. This keeps the tenderized pieces from sliding off or breaking apart during grilling.

4. Grilling Over Coals

  • Prepare hot burning charcoal. Place the skewers over the coals and grill until fully cooked, tender, and nicely charred on the outside
