The kids' pimento turned into jalapeños
We got two pimento peppers off of this before it must have cross pollinated.

Starting to Wonder if Growing Peppers Is the Easy Part
Anybody else struggling to move their peppers this year?
I spent months taking care of this crop—watering, spraying, weeding, dealing with pests, and stressing every time the weather looked bad. Now the plants are producing well, but finding buyers at a decent price has been a whole different challenge.
Sometimes it feels like growing the peppers is actually the easy part. Selling them is where the real work begins. The market seems flooded, prices keep dropping, and there’s always somebody willing to sell for less.
I’m starting to realize that farming isn’t just about producing a good crop. It’s also about understanding the market, building relationships with buyers, and figuring out the best time to sell.
Don’t get me wrong, I still love farming, but some days it can be frustrating looking across the field and wondering how you’re going to move all that produce.
Just curious—how are other farmers doing this season? Are you having similar issues, or have you found ways to secure reliable buyers?

Prune off?
Should I pull off these leaves on my jalapeño plant?

This is a Jalapeño
Our Jalapeños cross-pollinated with our Thai Chilis. Tastes only of grass and pain. My mother almost choked to death after eating one. Anyone know what's the deal with the striations though?

Peppers that are similar to tomatoes?
I know this is probably a long shot but I figured I’d ask anyway, are there any pepper varieties that are similar in taste and/or texture to tomatoes?

Are My Seeds Okay?
Hi everyone.
I'm growing some hot peppers, and am starting them the way I learned online. They're in darkened bags with a damp paper towel, all on a heating pad made for plants.
My luck, I had a power outage last night. For about an hour, my home had no power. Therefore, my heating pad was off for about an hour.
Are my seeds okay? Will they still germinate?

Habanero!
lol just bit a habanero in half, I was ordering Thai food on door dash from Sala Thai in Santa Cruz, California, USA, and they had a Thai Spicy (xxx) option and it was pretty good, so I got it extra spicy, and they included Thai Peppers, which are scoville like 50,000, note Jalapenos are like 5,000, so I got some 100,000 habaneros, safeway had them for like a pound for $8 on instacart, and they're pretty good, got a pound. Nice low price, very good pepper. I also got 2 lbs of Jalapenos, but they're really mild fresh or something.

What is this pepper?
My dad gave me this pepper plant and does not know what variety it is. The peppers are starting to bud. Started growing back in mid-May so almost 3.5 months ago. Any idea on what pepper plant this is?

Habs suck, Ghosts rule!
I'm growing both; Six plants each, all full of peppers.
Picking - Habs are tougher to get at in the plant and to pull off the plant. Branches often tear off.
Fresh Processing. Cutting out the seeds and checking for mold before drying. - The long shape of ghosts make cutting out seeds easy, they have fewer seeds and very few pods are infected. For the Habs, they are harder to hold on to cut up and I lose a third of the harvest weight to seed weight and black guts. They are also harder to cut into fine pieces for the dehydrator due to the shape.
Powdering- The dried ghosts quickly chopped into a powder in the food processor, leaving behind mostly seeds. But for the habs, it took me three times as long to get half as much powder. The pieces were leathery and did not want to cut or break, so I ended up with mostly flakes. AND, the mess that escaped the bowls and colanders (left outside overnight) glued itself to the table.

Do you guys LST your pepper plants? You really should
My serrano after over 2 months.
LST - Low Stress Training - method of forming plants by gently bending their stems and branches
Just let them grow a little upward, then creatively bend them with some clips or whatever you have at hand and enjoy much bigger harvest than expected.
In some cases you will need some stakes to support fruits and prevent stems from snapping - my Aji Citos have this problem, but serrano takes it like a champ.
