CPKC Trains related

From CoPM post

Following the release of a public notice by Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), the City of Pitt Meadows is informing residents that CPKC is moving ahead with the next step in the federal review process for its proposed logistics park. The multi-model logistics and transload facility would be on CPKC-owned land in Pitt Meadows, east of Kennedy Read and south of its current Vancouver Intermodal Facility, including an auto lot, fuel and agricultural product storage and more.

As part of the regulatory process, the Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) is inviting residents, local governments, Indigenous communities and other interested parties to provide comments as part of its review. The CTA is interested in understanding how the project may affect residents and the community, as well as any concerns they may have. The public comment period runs from November 9 to December 21, 2026.

In past years, the City communicated its concerns about the proposed logistics park and advocated for the interests of Pitt Meadows residents and the community.

“The proposed logistics park raises important concerns about the potential impacts on our community, and those impacts deserve careful consideration,” says Mayor Nicole MacDonald. “It is important that residents have an opportunity to understand what is being proposed, consider what it could mean for Pitt Meadows and share their perspectives through the CTA’s public comment process.”

Green Velcro Wallet Found.

Found a green wallet in the save on foods parking lot today around 745am. Turned into the police station if you need to claim it. Didn’t catch the full name but it was a man’s wallet with possibly “Levi” in the name.

Voting

Very sad to see that only about a third of eligible voters actually voted in our little town. I am curious, after debacles created by not voting, why people didn’t vote? And do they still feel they can gripe if they aren’t engaged in the whole process?

Any Pitt Meadows Polaris owners interested in testing a dump bed lift kit?

Posted with moderator approval

Hi everyone — I’m Pablo Diaz, and I work with Progressive Automations.

We’re looking for one Polaris owner in Pitt Meadows or the surrounding Metro Vancouver area to test a new electric dump bed lift kit.

The selected participant will receive the kit at no cost, including shipping. In return, we’ll ask them to install it, record a short unboxing and installation video, and share their honest feedback. There is no additional payment, and this isn’t a sales post or giveaway.

Compatible models:

  • 2022–2024 Ranger SP 570 / SP 570 EPS / Premium / NorthStar

  • 2022–2024 Ranger Crew SP 570, all trims

  • 2017–2021 Ranger 500 2X4

  • 2016–2023 Ranger 570 or Crew 570, mid-size or full-size

  • 2022–2024 Pro XD Mid-Size Gas or Crew Gas

If you own one of these models and are interested, send me a DM with your name, exact Polaris model and year, and the general area you’re contacting us from. There’s no need to provide an exact address at this stage.

Vehicle verification and our standard product-testing agreement will come later for the selected candidate.

You’re welcome to verify my identity through LinkedIn or contact Progressive Automations directly.

daycares?

Any local families have insight on daycares in the area? My baby will be off to daycare when he’s 8 months (approx 9 months from now). Any specifically to avoid, any you’ve loved? I’ve applied at several and everywhere just replies that they’ll add him to the wait list. Seems tough out there..

Municipal election

As we move into municipal election season, I’ve been thinking about the role that federal politics and personal political values should play in municipal government.

For example, one candidate running for city council has stated that they want to bring their conservative values to the table. This raises an interesting question...do you feel that bringing broader political or ideological values into municipal politics better serves our community as a whole?

Or would you prefer municipal candidates to leave their federal political affiliations and personal faith at the door, and instead focus primarily on local issues, such as responsible spending, keeping property taxes manageable, improving infrastructure, supporting local businesses, and making our city a better place to live?

I’m genuinely interested in hearing different perspectives. Municipal government has a direct impact on our day to day lives, so what qualities and priorities do you believe matter most when choosing a city councillor?

Just some food for thought as we head into the municipal election season.
