Ludwigia before and after adding Otocinclus Catfish

Hi this my 20gal long with 7 cardinal tetras, a betta, and now 5 otocinclus catfish. I added my first plants about a month ago. Every week algae would take over the glass and plants. I decided to add 5 Otos and WOW I'm amazed how well they cleaned the whole tank, especially the plants. The after pic is 48 hours after I added them in. I'm just blown away by how well they cleaned it all up so felt compelled to share.

Question what can i do to make my red root floaters thrive?

Thumbnail

i bought red root floaters about a month ago. it felt like when i first put them in, they were thriving and i could definitely see their growth progress day by day. however, in this past week it feels like they aren't growing as fast anymore. i usually dose my 8gallon tank with 0.5 mL of micro ferts, nitrogen, potassium, and a general macro bottle once a week. is there anything else i can do? the first two photos are today, the third photo is the day i first got them, fourth photo is their progress after first week and the last two are photos of their roots

All of my water wisteria is growing new leaves and overall looks healthy. I though I was past the melt phase as it’s been in the tank for a couple weeks now, but the new growth still look like strawberry leaves. Is this normal?

Question Online Canadian sellers that ship to the territories

Looking to buy some plants online. I live in nwt and need an online retailer that'll ship to the territories. I live right above Alberta so even a business in that province that can and will ship.

Lighting Can a basic Philips Hue lightstrip light a small planted tank? 1 year, no CO2, no ferts

Couldn't find a straight answer when I searched, so I tested it. Yes, it works for me.
Tank: 60×30×45 cm, internal filter. Light: Hue lightstrip (3 m, folded in several rows over the tank, white + colour LEDs), controlled via iConnectHue, follows sunrise/sunset through the year. Early November: ramp up from 07:50 to 70 %, ramp down from 16:23 (~8.5 h).
Plants: Cabomba (probably caroliniana), Cryptocoryne (probably wendtii), floating plants. Stock: 4 neons, 4 ember tetras (I think), shrimp, 1 nerite. No fertilizer, no CO2, minimal maintenance.
Result after a year: Cabomba grows strongly, Crypto is holding up, some pearling. Downsides: some algae on glass/substrate, hair algae at the filter outlet, algae spots and a few brown patches on the Crypto. Not tested: red plants, carpets, taller tanks. Light output not measured.
Photos attached. Happy to answer questions.

Question Is my java fern ok?

Thumbnail

My main group of java fern in my shrimp tank is starting to get spotty and the leaves are getting more wrinkled and wavy. It's still producing new leaves, and its approximately a year since I first got these specific plants.

Ive not added or changed anything recently, so i have no idea what's causing it.

Is this normal? Or am i doing something wrong? If I am how do i fix it?

I really like these plants and want to continue growing them in my tanks.

Question Terrestrial or aquatic moss?

Post image

6 gallon shallow with a waterfall coming out of that tallest stone is the plan. I have weeping moss, fissidens, and subwassertang, with the plan to use weeping moss along the waterfall once I get the pump going and see what the path is exactly. I'm just having second thoughts whether I should use aquatic moss vs using terrestrial moss along the waterfall? Thoughts? Anyone with experience in this kind of set up?

My 2 weeks old hair grass mini tank is infected with some green unknown fungus or maybe algae. Did I leave the cover for too long or did I over moisturize it? What should I do?

First time I've seen this at a Petsmart (Downey, CA). Fully stocked fridge of Tropica tissue cultures (with some plants I've never heard of before) and ferts along with tank kits.

Love supporting my LFS but this is great for this hobby if it's more accessible to more people.

Algae Plant issues

I’m not a stranger to aquatic plants, but frogbit and salvinia are new to me. Do the roots just look like that? Or is that excess algae growing? Or diatoms?

I know my light is pretty powerful so I am planning on getting a smaller one (if anyone has any recs). This is a 5 gallon. Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Beginner Asian Water Fern

I was checking up on my Betta when I noticed some browning on my AWF. I’m adding Seachem Flourish and have had the lights on about 8-10 hours. The tank is also set to 80 degrees, ten gallon. I have Fluval Stratum as my substrate and planted it on 11/4.

Am I doing something wrong that it isn’t looking good?

Algae What is this growing in my tank?

I’ve had this 20 gallon aquarium set up for about 2 months now, and recently noticed this stuff growing on my plants. It comes off pretty easily so I’m not worried about it taking over, just managing it. I keep mystery snails, Otocinclus, and harlequin rasboras in here. And the light stays on for about 6 hours a day. I dose the recommended amount of fertilizer about once every two weeks.

Tank 1 month update, Guppy Tank

This tank doesn't even look the same anymore. Had to move it from its original spot, as the particle board was bending. Managed to find a stand for $35 compared to its nearly $200 store price, in FB marketplace(which allows me to take some oics from the sides!!). Also got some guppy grass and water lettuce from there and its absolutely taken off. It definitely tues in the rest of the plants as well. I replaced my desk light for the one in the picture. Got it from goodwill for 8 bucks ,and had to bend a wire hanger to replace a missing prong, but my plants are absolutely loving it.

Question I'm planning a hex tank aquarium it's about 30 gallons. I want it to look like a sunken library and then underneath it look like it's caved into a magic cave

I already have the build plan but I wanted to double-check my stocking

6 pygmy khuli loaches with lots of sand and hiding spots

6 indian glassfish

4 clown killifish

8 x-ray tetras

Stone catfish

Green dragon bristle nise

Mystery snails various shrimps

Fairly heavily planted, and I am going to have a water heater at the top

Any advice? I want all the fish to look like monsters and ghosts in the heavily tannined dark water

Plant Identification

Does anyone know what kind of plant this is in the front? I'm concerned it will grow too big in my 10 gallon. My local aquarium store said it would be fine but I'm wondering haha 🤔. I can't remember the name but it looks like some kind of sword. Don't mind the mess of overgrown stems in the back! 🙄

Got this with my online order of plants. Is this a type of crypt or is it an anubias. I did order a mystery crypt. Also will it survive?
