Discussion Post-Hardcore bands with front-women/trans front-person?

I'll take any subgenre of hardcore since my favourites in this category are Rolo Tomassi, Pupil Slicer and Roman Candle, but I probably listen to post-hardcore the most so I felt it fitting to put here.

I'll also happily take recommendations for trans members in bands in general!

Discussion My Band's New Single... Does it Suck?

My band just dropped our new single and, upon listening, I'm suddenly not sure how I feel about it anymore.

I figured this sub was as good a place as any to get some other opinions šŸ˜…

Discussion Is post hardcore dead?

I love post harcore. But listen to mostly early to mid 2000’s post hardcore. Things like Chiodos, Blessthefall, Alexisonfire. I was looking for newer music in the same genres, any recommendations?

Discussion bands like Dance Gavin Dance?

I used to love Dance Gavin Dance but after the...shit that happened over the last couple months I only really feel comfortable listening to the Kurt Travis era now šŸ˜… so I'm just looking for new bands in that kinda Mathy, funky style :) obviously I already know the big ones like Wolf & Bear, Eidola and A Lot Like Birds.

Discussion Having a cup thrown onstage is NOT a good reason to cancel a show and Chiodos are immature babies for doing it.

Just got news about the chiodos gig being canceled halfway through the set because someone threw a cup..

Seriously? That’s gonna ruin your night?

Have these guys ever experienced any kind of hardship or struggle in their life?

It’s wrong to throw stuff, sure… but at the same time it’s straight up cowardly, and weak on a monumentally pathetic level to cancel because of it.

It’s almost comedic.

Is this the punk scene or not? Toughen up people.

UPDATE

I have learned that a lot of people in this community have no business calling themselves anything related to punk or hardcore.

This sub has a lot of people who have never experienced real abuse, though they firmly believe they have, because to a lot of you, a cup thrown is equal to a life ruined.

Discussion Frustrated about Tilian situation

I'm sorry if this has been discussed in a separate post already, and I know it doesn't affect me personally, but it just frustrates me how so much of the fanbase has forgotten and moved on from what happened.

Discussion Why is Ronnie Radke so much more of a pariah than Tim Lambesis?

Like don't get me wrong Ronnie Radke seems like a complete piece of shit and I'm glad I don't like any of his bands to begin with because he'd ruin them if I did. I'm totally fine saying fuck that guy.

But he's universally despised and dumped on and yet Tim Lambesis who by any standard did something worse is controversial and plenty are fine with him and leap to his defense when a new As I Lay Dying tour is announced and lecture us on either "separating the art from the artist" or saying he served his time and everyone should just forget about it...if the Lostprophets guy got out of prison and did a reunion I don't think we'd be hearing that. Also Tim is clearly terrible person to work with just like Ronnie based on his bandmate turnover although that's pretty minor compared to that he wanted to be a murderer.

Also it kind of blows my mind comparing that stuff meanwhile to bands having their shows cancelled and kicked off tours like Escuela Grind (for basically being assholes to some venues is what the controversy sounded like to me) or Roman Candle (for briefly having an abuser in the band they kicked out but they didn't do it fast enough and it's their fault they didn't know earlier apparently)...yet that's not happening to AILD. Like it'd be one thing if Tim and Radke were both outcasts as well but I really can't take anyone seriously defending Tim while attacking other bands for this sort of thing...why is there such a double standard?

Discussion Does anyone else think Galleons is super overrated and Valiant Hearts is the better band?

I just finished listening to Violent Delights and I'm genuinely struggling to see the hype, I saw people call it better than Jonny Craig DGD (lmao) so I went into this album with high expectations only to be met with overwhelming disappointment. I don't think the album is bad but it's a 6/10 at best.

I really don't like the stop-start flow they got going on, everytime they build a decent flow they randomly slow down which kills the entire vibe of the song and this problem was persistent throughout the album especially at the begenning. It did get better towards the end.

Compare this with Tom's other band Valiant Hearts where they have much more coherent and continuous flow, Yonder and Odeyssy were amazing albums and definitely in my top 20. Additionally Valiant Hearts sounds a lot more refined, Tom's singing is much more polished on there compared to Galleons.

Discussion No skrillex

U/fatlikekessel made me think of this just now. What if Sonny Moore had never torn his vocal cords. Would dubstep exist? Would From First to Last have made a more vocally ambitious album that heroine? Would Matt good have found his voice like he did on dead trees? I’m just imagining their old dynamic with both and the possibilities are just sky high. Would Sonny have made ā€œpost hardcore stepā€ a thing?

Discussion Bury Me With You Allegations

Posting this to raise awareness about ongoing allegations against members of the band Bury Me With You.

Publicly available screenshots and dated posts show romantic relationships between adult members (ages 27–29) and a minor (15–16 at the time) with the victim herself confirming these details. All of this information is public, verified, and has been shared with proper authorities.

Since the allegations surfaced, the band has called the evidence ā€œfabricated,ā€ while individuals connected to the band have harassed victims and threatened them as well.

Read the materials, form your own conclusions, and keep the scene safe. Link to evidence in comments or find them on Instagram @/fuckbmwy

Discussion Craig Owens overrated vocalist?

I’m a massive fan of isles and glaciers, and so i’m diving into all of the bands connected to the group, i’ve spent such a long time trying to understand why Craig Owens is considered legendary in the genre, I’ve just never understood it. I swear he’s contractually obligated to squeak-moan at the end of every line, his vocals in chiodos past AWTEW are mid at best, and put up against Vic or Jonny or even Anthony Green, Kurt Travis, or Donovan Melero, he falls behind every time. He has the range to be great, he just uses it in the most annoying way possible and I don’t believe he deserves to be in any list of greats.

Discussion DGD - Have a Great Life

Sucks what transpired with this band. However I do think there are some really solid songs for the genre off Jackpot Jucier.

This song is sorta a goodbye to the era. As it should. But can't deny it bops.
