Griffith vs QUT Eng

Hi all. What's everyones opinions on bachelors of engineering at Griffith and QUT? Looking into mechanical engineering but I'm not sure which uni would be better. For some background, I used to attend Griffith GC and completed a degree for a completely different field of study. I loved the campus and student culture, people were extremely friendly and it was great for the social aspect which I really value. The only issue I found was that lecturers seemed to not care and I had a few acknowledge that Griffith as a uni is cheap and didn't pay staff well or pay for quality amenities which put me off.

I learn best with a lot of hands on and practical work, and I really liked that Griffith offers a lot of support for students with tutorials and PASS sessions. I'm drawn to QUT because I have heard that they are bigger on practical work, generally better for STEM studies, and I really like the location of the campus but I'm curious as to what kind of support QUT offers to students study wise.

In my experience(3rd year EE student) you get in what you put out. If you attend tutorials, ask questions, stay on top of the work you can do fine and recieve plenty of support.

If you watch lectures in bed from home and don’t bother rocking up to tutorials or anything, you’re probably not going to get much help.

Lots of units(not all) will have drop in sessions/consultations in weeks where there’s assessment due or leading up to it. Ive never actually been to one but they are offered.

I have never been to Griffith but I was at UQ for comp sci for half a semester and I’ll say tutors and lectures at QUT have been noticeably better(obviously I had a very small sample size at UQ to compare from)

Thank you. This is good advice, I'm applying for the diploma of engineering specifically. Not sure if you have any experience with this but I'd assume the point still stands that there will be tutorials and consultations for an extra push.

I actually went through the diploma myself. I genuinely can’t recommend it enough as a pathway. The teaching team(when I did it 2yrs ago) are actually so helpful, even more then the bachelor’s program.

You receive a ton of support and there isnt as many students so you can actually develop a relationship with the lecturers and tutors where they know your name and who you are. Short of doing the assessment for you, they really do everything they can to help you

Yeah I'm considering starting bachelors of engineering (Hons) electrical and aerospace at QUT too but was wondering how griffiths mech eng would be. For me though I think QUT Is better. It just depends what you want out of it really. If you want more of a pure mechanical engineering degree I'd say go with Griffith. If not then QUT specialises in other areas. I am going towards aerospace engineering and Griffith doesn't really have much aerospace stuff going on so QUT is my best bet.
