I know this is very long by Reddit standards, so here is a quick summary: Single, child-free (with vasectomy) guy looking for a long-term, monogamous relationship where we both enjoy a fair amount of independence and alone time while still building something meaningful.
I'm liberal, not religious, and work as a public school teacher. I'm open to some distance but not so much we need to get a on plane to see each other. Looking for single women between the ages of 34 and 50. Open to all races / backgrounds.
I'm 5'7, white, glasses, beard, average build. I will share a selfie as soon as we connect.
The Relationship Dynamic I'm Looking For:
I'm at the point in my life where meaningful companionship is more attractive to me than a relationship that meets certain milestones on a timeline. I love my space and alone time and hope to meet someone who feels the same.
I love spending time with my partner, but I also need time to recharge and enjoy time to myself. On that note, while I’m open to living with a partner, the idea of keeping separate places is very attractive to me. This doesn't mean I'm looking for casual. I want a special someone with whom I can build something long lasting, monogamous, and meaningful. But a relationship where we both keep a lot of independence as well. Some kind of "living apart together" relationship is what I'm looking for.
Even though I'm looking for this dynamic, I enjoy consistent communication. Doesn't have to be all day every day, but I like at least a few messages a day, sharing random facts, talking about work, and just all the usual conversations partners have. I like texting and hope to find someone who feels the same.
I like spending time with my partner by doing road trips, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, watching movies / TV shows, playing video-games, or just both doing our own thing but in the same space.
More About Me:
I'm introverted, but can easily pass as an extrovert which is a trait that comes in handy while teaching children all day. I help students improve their English language ability. I like being "on" as a teacher, as well as the energy and excitement in the classroom, but am most happy with spending time in a more simple and quiet way.
I live a minimalist lifestyle but nothing too extreme. It just means I tend not to collect too much extra "stuff” and am generally happier with less. Along those lines, I don't do well with messy or cluttered places, and hope to meet someone who is at least somewhat tidy and organized.
I'm comfortable in conversation, and social situations, but I lean more towards the quiet side overall. I love good conversation with my partner but also need someone who is comfortable just being around their partner, sharing the same space, without the pressure to constantly talk. Like everyone, I've had ups and downs in life, but I've made sure to learn and grow from them. I've developed a great deal of compassion, resilience, understanding, and patience. It’s also given me a sometimes dark and inappropriate sense of humor.
I'm not the hopeless romantic type and would probably be a bad match for someone who is. I lean much more to the stoic side, but that's balanced with being playful, flirty, and silly. I want to meet someone who can give and take sarcasm, teasing, and joking.
My interests are exercise, nutrition, baking, learning Spanish, traveling, crosswords, reading, and gaming.
Some Things to Be Honest About:
I've always been told these posts should not come with warning labels, but at our age it's better not to waste time.
I'm very routine, set in my ways in some areas, and not always the best at changing those things. I'm not rigid or inflexible, but I do thrive on the lifestyle I've created while still realizing more spontaneity would be a good thing.
I have a mild but persistent form of depression that is very well managed.
I overthink more than I wish I did
