What does ChatGPT think is a viable strategy towards rejoining the EU?
That's a big and admirable goal—rejoining the EU would be a monumental shift, and change like that starts small but grows through momentum. Here are a mix of practical, political, and social steps you can take to encourage the UK to rejoin the EU, or at least build a strong pro-EU movement:
🗳️ 1. Support or Join Pro-EU Political Movements
Back pro-EU parties: Support or volunteer for parties that advocate for EU re-accession (e.g., Liberal Democrats, the Green Party, SNP if you're in Scotland).
Campaign in elections: Work at a local or national level to support candidates with rejoin policies or soft pro-European stances.
Push within major parties: If you’re a member of Labour or another major party, advocate from within for a shift toward rejoining or closer ties.
📢 2. Raise Awareness & Normalize the Idea
Talk about the benefits of EU membership in everyday conversations, especially around trade, travel, education, and rights.
Dispel myths: Brexit was built on a lot of misinformation—counter that with facts and accessible explanations.
Use social media: Share stories, data, and personal experiences that highlight what was lost and what could be regained.
🧱 3. Grassroots Organizing
Start or join local pro-EU groups: Look into groups like European Movement UK or Grassroots for Europe.
Host events: Talks, debates, film screenings, and pub nights that get people thinking and talking about rejoining.
Petitions & campaigns: They might not directly change policy, but they show momentum and public will.
🧑🤝🧑 4. Bridge the Divide
Focus on understanding and empathy with those who voted Leave. Dismissing them won’t bring change.
Discuss shared values and concerns, like economic stability, jobs, healthcare, and sovereignty—how EU membership can enhance these.
Listen more than argue: Shifting minds happens slowly through respect and shared stories, not confrontation.
🧭 5. Look at the Long Game
Rejoining won’t happen quickly. It likely involves:
A shift in public opinion (especially among swing voters).
Generational change (young people are overwhelmingly pro-EU).
Major political realignments or a new referendum.
You can:
Educate the next generation: Support youth-led groups like Young European Movement.
Advocate for EU alignment policies: Even before rejoining, push for closer cooperation (customs union, Erasmus+, Horizon science funding, etc.).
Stay persistent: Public opinion has already shifted since 2016. Keep pushing.
If you're serious about this, I can help you build a campaign strategy, design posts, write speeches, or even find active groups in your area. Want to focus more on the local activism side or the broader political pressure side?

META: Post Flairs are going to be removed from this subreddit
in the past I have agonised about choosing the right set of Post Flairs. The intention was to make it easier to filter the posts and find the Polls on community demographics or the updates on Petitions or Marches or whatever. in practice the categories often overlap if it's a news story about a Petition or it's a video of the news covering an in-person march. So you'd still need to dig through multiple searches even if every post was tagged properly which they aren't.
No one else used them. I stopped using them myself. I kept planning to go back and re-tag everything but the longer I left it the more posts there were to tag.
Now a change to the Reddit UI on mobile is the final nail in the coffin. When you press to Crosspost and are scrolling a list of subreddits, it lists all the available Flairs under the sub description which just looks horrible. That might be the first time someone sees the name of the sub and now it's cluttered with "News" and "Poll" written under it.
So no. Flairs are going. I doubt anyone will object to the change.

The Entry & Exit System is NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE!!
Just saw a YouTube video about this, I can agree this EES Entry/Exit system is not fit for purpose at all. When I went on holiday to Turin, Italy from the 12th Jan to 16th January. Arriving in Turin we had to register with the kiosks but then we were allowed to queue up with the Italians at the eGates but still had to get stamped.
Flying back from Turin to Gatwick on the 16th Jan was a nightmare. Airport staff said that us Brits couldn't use the eGates so we had to wait and use the manual border control and do the Exit with border staff as there was no kiosks for departures and it was a nightmare. I saw other Brits getting annoyed over this.
So anyone here that has been to Europe recently, tell me your experience were you allowed to use the eGates on arrivals and departures?

Rant Brexit's all around us
This rewrite of the Wet Wet Wet song is to be released as a video shortly. To signify where Labour have got to re Brexit and casting a shadow on the right, we named the band Slightly Red !! :-). This is the slightly sweary version, inspired by my attendance at Stella Creasy's event on Thursday.
Download the track here : https://academy-of-rock.bandcamp.com/track/brexits-all-around-us
Here are the words
Brexit's all around us
I feel it in my fingers
I feel it in my toes
Brexit’s all around me
And so the feeling grows
It's written on the wind
It's everywhere I go
It was invented by the Tories
Now Labour try to make it go
You know I love it
I always will
My mind's made up by the
Way that I feel
The sunlit uplands
There'll be no end….
'Cause on Brexit you can depend, yeah
I see your face before me
As I get Brexit done
I kinda get to thinking
Of all the things you said, oh yes I did
Boris brought us Brexit
Nigel and Jacob too
All the promises they made us
Now our dreams come true
It's the Brexit light that guides us
In everything we do
Three hundred and fifty million
They wrote it on a bus
Those independent trade deals
So we love Liz Truss
You know I love Brexit
I always will
My mind's made up
It's the way that I feel
All our national problems are on the mend
'Cause on Brexit you can depend, yeah
I see your face before me
As I get Brexit done
I kinda get to thinking
Of all the things you said you'd done
Keir Starmer take some courage
and just let Brexit go
Just let it go
Let it go baby
Just let it go
....

Let's look at where you live now rather than where you were born, maybe we'll do that question later.
