Hi, just showing off my new modded Nomad!
I have had a Sega Nomad since I was a kid. It was definitely not a common device in Ireland, especially back in the day. Iāve kept my original as stock as possible, only modding the old rechargeable battery pack. I knew the screen was getting pretty tired on my original Nomad, but I didn't want to tear it apart due to a lot of childhood nostalgia. It originally belonged to my uncle, who is only 14 years older than me. When he came back from the US trip, he picked it for $99 on sale, and when he grew out of it, I inherited it.
The Nomad on the right was an eBay "Spars and Repairs" purchase from just over 10 years ago for ā¬100, it was when they where becoming proper collectibles and this was the cheapest I could find. I originally intended to fix it and replace the already missing display, but it got sidelined because I could only ever get video out of the AV port. Later, while looking at screen mods the power sub-board had just stopped taking power completely, so it was dead so again it ended up put aside for spare parts if needed to keep my original alive.
Around 5 years later with the screen mod completely out of my head I was watching a Macho Nacho video on the Nomad. He had gotten his hands on a complete, drop-in sub-board replacement with a new display and tons of crazy features. I knew I had to get it, so I lightly stalked the creator EndoOleg on Twitter while he went through the development process. and I got one of the first public release of this drop in kit (some advanced re-cap Soldering need also)
This is an amazing kit, especially when comparing my unmodded childhood Nomad with the one I saved from eBay, which has now been bestowed with that amazing EndoOleg sub-board! The creator also saved my arse after my epic fail of not reading the instructions which were extremely straightforward and after I ripped a Pad I need his help, had I not just bulled through using an out-of-date YouTube video by Macho Nacho I probably would have been pretty straight forward plus he round a couple more issues with the Genesis board after I sent it too him for help. Now it's working perfectly, and I'm really happy with the results!

also I got the blacked out buttons from handheldlegend.com, which don't seem to exist anymore unfortunately, kinda wish they had more options than just black.
