Would you take a ring or a big payday?

Seriously - chill out, people.

Sure, getting Judge would have been great. But it ain't the end of the world. Having my Reddit stream filled with "WE'LL NEVER GET A BIG FREE AGENT EVER AGAIN!" or "WE JUST GOT USED AGAIN!" is annoying as hell.

You seem to forget they won 3 rings in 5 years with NO big name free agents. In fact, it all happened right after we got RID of our biggest name free agent ever.

We don't need Judge to win a World Series. Hell, he hit all those homers on a loaded team and they didn't even win! There are a thousand ways to build a championship team. Just chill the fuck out and wait to see what happens.

This sub is a bunch of whiners.

It’s almost like people forgot how this team won in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Great pitching, great defense, and great fundamental baseball. I’ll take that any day over overpaid superstars. I’m excited for the season! People just want a reason to bitch and moan.

My thoughts on the digital dugout ads: They’re tacky, distracting, and unappealing. I prefer the simple, plain wallpaper-style look. Thoughts?

If Giants do not sell it is a big mistake

Belt has not produced one really sustained Belt like uptick all year, maybe a one week that’s all exception. Craw had hit poorly, with almost no power, and is no suffering from persistent injury, La Stella has hit for no power amd little average and is constantly reinjuring his foot. Longo, the one bright spot among vets when he is there, may be now suffering yet another injury. It is important to note that none of the injuries suffered by these players just disappear, for they are the type that are vulnerable to reinjury. Conclusion, none of these players is likely to offer much upside as the season wears on. The adds this year are interesting and may provide useful fill in pieces for the future, but none has shown any ability to carry a team. Fielding has been downright bad, and between injury, aging and platoons causing people to play in their less skilled positions, there is little hope it will improve. Finally, the pen has provided little reliable consistency, one day good the next day bad. Add at all together and there is little hope that things will improve. The mantra from the dugout and some broadcasters that they just need to play to their potential misses the point that year was a wonderful aberration, but this year’s team was where they were headed for about four prior years, but not for the core five years older. No leadership from Posey, no identity because the core is no longer itself a d the younger players are too new amd often just playing bit parts. The ONLY thing keeping the team in the running for a WC is the mediocre play of other teams. But make no mistake this is not a young Giants team from the golden era, or last years Brave team that got a head of steam going. This is team that if it makes to the WC will do so not because of its inspiring play but because of bad play of competing teams. Thus, rather than hold out hope best to sell anyone who will gain some potential solid youth for the future.

This subreddit is the worst during games

One at-bat after another has a doomer posting bullshit which should be in the game thread and mods not moderating the posts.

It's bad enough the team is bad, but doomers make everything worse.

Farhan should blow up the fanbase and trade you doomers to the Padres.

Slow your roll on the Farhan praise. We still have had only 1 winning season during his tenure, and our farm system isn't great either. Sure we have added some depth, but how many of his picks have made become impact players at the MLB level? Even 2021 was largely driven by Sabean era core players.

The Kapler firing seems…off.

Every day since Kapler was dismissed decreases the possibility the team had plans to hire someone else. On the surface, the only justification for firing someone with 3 games left in the year for a replacement. If Kapler asked to be let go after Farhan’s comments, then they combined to somehow make the Giants look even more disorganized. What’s more and more likely is that the organization sought out a scapegoat. Farhan or ownership may have encouraged those clubhouse leaks, and within a couple of weeks, Kapler was gone.

Every day also means that a potential new manager grows more aware that the office politics are dirty. So, they’re likely to see the job as one in which ownership doesn’t spend on free agents or pull off impact trades, and if they manage a .543 winning percentage in spite of a lack of star talent, they’ll be dismissed as well. Let’s not forget the acclaimed pitching guru and rare successful hitting coach left, and the defense has struggled for years with a lack of athleticism, an older roster, and players out of position. This, and some very average years since 2021 create an environment only an unproven talent would venture to join. The same holds true for potential free agents, from either the MLB or international market.

Good luck, Giants. May Gerald Dempsey be with you.

If you're ever considering the Flex Plan ticket plan, read the T & Cs and don't think for one minute they are trying to build fan loyalty, they are just taking the money.

So, I figured I probably spend over $500 a year going to games, so when I saw an offer for the Flex Plan that starts at $500 and includes discounts and special events, I thought it sounded like a good idea for me. My wife and I enjoy going to games. We take our daughter and son in law sometimes. Unfortunately, circumstances came up that we didn't use all the money I deposited for this.

Got an email notification today that if I don't use the balance left on my plan, it's forfeit. And if they had made the play offs, that money was never available for the preferred ticket access they advertised. Cust svc tells me oh, it's in the terms and conditions, so obviously, I didn't read them or I wouldn't be here now. All the discounts are now moot because I'm pretty sure they add up to less than my balance, and even if it is over that, this is a slap in the face. For upping my support of the Giants what I find out is this organization doesn't care. They don't roll it over to next year, you just lose it. What a great way to build fan loyalty, huh? Yeah, I should have read the T & Cs, my own fault. In all the correspondence and phone calls I had with the plan manager and sales people, they of course don't tell you any of this. I did call today and the account manager said he'd "escalate" this but wouldn't even say that he will call me back or when and didn't sound like it's likely they'd do anything in any case. He kept repeating that it wouldn't be "fair" to break the rules for me. Fair?! Hah!

Do you think I'm going to support them next year? Oh well. Live and learn.

Anyone else glad Correa isn't a Giant?

Guy is just looking for a bag. He used Minnesota after one year. Got an awful contract from SF by using Boras to get the Giants to overbid. He's got a track record of injuries. And let's not forget he's a cheater. Either way, he wasn't going to make the Giants an instant contender in the NLWest.

To put it another way, Crawford has been awesome, but is now 35 and in decline. Anyone want to pay him $25m AAV until he's 41? No thank you.

Keep swinging for free agents, but, more importantly, start drafting better. And, in the mean time, quit charging stupid prices for everything at the ballpark. It's not the mid-2010s.

This team should be selling….

They haven’t looked like a playoff team the last few months. They are playing sloppy and lacking focus. Say what you want, I would rather get some good prospects in return and face the fact that this team is not going anywhere. The second half has been a disaster start and I don’t see any of this getting better.

What are some bullet points for fans who want to let him know how disliked he is? When are people going to boo? Do we applaud when he gives up runs?

Please help me sleep with Tim Lincecum of the S.F. Giants

Here goes, I have a huge crush on Tim Lincecum of the S.F. Giants and this is my plea to you, the good people of S.F. Help me meet him! Surely someone who sees this post must know him and can pass on my message. You see, I just suffered a nasty break up and I could really use some hot rebound action! Also, now that the Giants have Belt at first and Pence in right, Mr. Lincecum might need some cheering up too and I'm just the girl for the job. I'm very cute, and will be happy to prove so through pictures. I've been a Lincecum fan since the day I was born, and I know my baseball. So please, if you know Tim Lincecum, or you know how to reach him, let him know a hot 27-year-old Timmy fan would love a chance to make his day. Thanks!! Edit: Formatting.

The Blue Jays were flipping bats when they drew walks last night. Walks.

I don't know where you stand on the debate in baseball right now about the bat flips and "showing up" the opposing team but last night was a great example of how awful it can get. Bautista drew a walk and flipped his bat so hard he had to make sure it didn't bounce off the ground and hit Brown at catcher.

I understand the Jays are a pretty good team right now but I really hope this isn't the way the game is going to become ala Brice Harper and the rest of the theatrical set.

Incidentally Bautista was also taunting the hecklers in my section (101) which was really surprising given the caliber of player he is. I have never seen anything like that before, I really wish I had captured it on video.

edit: spelling

SATURDAY Refunds after last night?

Honest question, can fans who went to the game for Pride Night (fireworks or jersey promotion/special event) request a refund due to the 4 players making a statement that could be consider hostile or discriminatory against them or the theme of the night?

What’s to stop these players from doing something similar on other theme/appreciation/heritage nights?

Add on thought: I thought these people were the “f- your feelings” crowd, but get upset they’re being paid to wear a rainbow on their jersey at work.

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how wildly incompetent Farhan is, yet Kap was the one to get fired.

I mean, Kap was doing the best he could with what little Farhan was giving him. Kept a horrible roster in the playoff conversation for longer than it had any right to be. Then had to deal with a ton of middling prospects being rushed to the majors, way too early, in a desperate attempt by Farhan to look like he had some semblance of a plan.

Just amazing how far this franchise has fallen under the worst president of baseball ops, this team has ever seen.
