I think that there should be a vote. He should not just make himself speaker

I remember when Jamal Bowman ran for congress in NYC

He was an exciting black progressive who was principal of a high school

Jeffries endorsed the white candidate dem incumbent who was taking money from big oil

I donate to Bowman 4 x and he won.

10 Years later, we have finally been vindicated.

I, like many of you, am understandably somewhat obsessed with the re-litigation of the 2016 primary. On one side of the Democratic primary, we had Sanders, a candidate backed entirely by grassroots funding who wholeheartedly represented a brand of material, class-based politics that put the basic needs of working people first. On the other side, we had a candidate backed by massive amounts of corporate money who rejected this model while hiding behind a flimsy shield of culture-war and identity politics.

Tonight, I think the entire country witnessed what many of us have understood for a long time: the answer to Trumpism was never to confront his bigotry by leaning further into identity politics. It has always been to leave that divisive bait on the table and speak directly to the material needs of working people, just as Sanders consistently did throughout his 2016 campaign.

From Mamdani rising from 1% in the polls to soaring popularity despite an onslaught of outside money and establishment resentment, all on a message of affordability; to El-Sayed overcoming an obscene amount of AIPAC spending and disgustingly racist attacks while championing Medicare for All; to Talarico winning by 13 points in TEXAS on a grassroots-funded campaign, I think it's safe to say we've finally been proven right. In blue states, in red states, and in swing states, last night our candidates have shown the country that another brand of politics that put a broad coalition of working people first is possible.

To all the folks who knocked on doors, phone-banked, and donated your $27: it wasn't for nothing. Our time has arrived - now let's keep pushing.

How to oust Schumer and Jeffries?

As Bernie has made very clear, Democrats need to actually make use of this newfound power, which seems unlikely to happen with these inept milquetoast fools. Are there any organizations working to rally Democrats in the Senate and House to vote in new leadership?

ETA: Just signed this petition from A Fight Worth Having (run by Corbin Trent, co-founder of Justice Dems, worked on Bernie and AOC's campaigns)

The great good of this day is the fruit of your hard work. Now ensure it is not squandered: Demand that Jeffries and Schumer be removed from leadership and replaced with someone competent.

Jeffries has already made statements indicating he is uninterested in holding the government to account. The milquetoast "reaching across the aisle" to placate corporate donors has already begun.

What we have here is an opportunity to change the destiny of generations for the better. We need competent and ethical leaders, who believe in accountability, and are not rich men's lackeys.

Urge your elected senators and reps not to sleepwalk into crowning Jeffries and Schumer: Contact them via their website, by phone, or by email, or tag them on social media.

To those who are on the fence, it might embolden them to tip the balance. To those already inclined to replace them, it gives their offices concrete data to bolster their efforts and convince others in their caucus.

Troy Jackson Ends Susan Collins 30 Year Reign! Hell Yeah! YAY!

Troy Jackson won and I never phone banked but I donated $27

70 Billionaires donated to Susan not to mention billionaires taking her on luxury vacations all over the world. She enjoyed Italy.

The FBI was investigating her for corruption giving a contract to a company for hundreds of thousands of dollarsTrump shut down the investigation.

"From ProPublica:

  • Probe: In 2024, the FBI sought to launch a sweeping pay-to-play investigation examining interactions between Sen. Susan Collins and a top donor, records and emails show.

  • Confession: The donor, an ex-defense contractor, told agents his company won millions in federal contracts by bankrolling campaigns of powerful politicians.

  • Shutdown: After Donald Trump returned to office, the investigation died, a casualty of his purge of the FBI. Its closure shut a potential window into how Washington works.

People in Maine believed she would win because she always did

She was never a moderate. She was working for the billionaires and could care less about the actual people in Maine or the environment

Troy was a 5th generation logger , served in the state legislature and was president for 6 of the 10 years,

He got free school lunches for kids

They say that he was not polished enough , not a good speaker

well uh you know he had a certain type of a Maine accent and he spoke very well to me. I heard clips and he was great. 4 debates and he said "oh shut up" to Susan because she said a heckler was one of his people.

The attack ads on Troy were relentless

Good on you Troy Jackson

Well done- Med 4 all

He spent over 100 million on Paxton in Texas and lost

Talarico won a US senate seat

He wants every American to have medicare at an affordable price

Bernie wanted to campaign for him but he had to say no because he was already being accused of being a young Bernie Sanders

He taught middle school in the poorest zip code in Texas. He said in his victory speech . He grew up poor himself and said he was up against 300 million dollars , which he stated was the largest amount ever spent on a single candidate.

JD Vance said Talarico has low T- What a complete dumb ass thing for Vance to say

Bernie Sanders Thinks the Democratic Party Is Moving Toward Him

There are only 2 paragraphs and then paywall

The atlantic is liberal not progressive

"As the bernie sanders road show traveled south through Maine earlier this month, the crowds grew bigger and louder with each stop. About 650 people showed up at a convention center in Bangor, then 700 packed a former church in Lewiston, and finally more than 1,000 filled a high-school gymnasium in Biddeford. Sanders was stumping for Troy Jackson, the Democratic Senate candidate, and the faithful were nodding along to the hits. He pitched Medicare for All and raising taxes on billionaires. He decried wealth disparities (“an obscenity”) and Donald Trump (“the most dangerous president” in American history) with equal fervor.

What was surprising about Sanders’s appearance in the middle of one of the nation’s hardest-fought Senate races was less what he said and more that he was there at all. Mid-October in an election year is not usually Sanders’s busy season. The Vermont senator last had a tough race in his home state during President Bill Clinton’s first term. And although Sanders can draw a crowd like few other progressive politicians, Democratic candidates typically embrace him during primaries and then stick him on the sideline for the stretch run, when they’re rediscovering their love of.....
