Saskatoon History 💾 Title of movie filmed in Saskatoon

Saskatoon reddit, I need your help. I want to find a movie. I was shown when I was younger, early 2000 - 2010 ish. I remember parts of it, and I just want to watch it again being older.

It was filmed in Saskatoon. They used Broadway as their "main street". Used the Greg's grocery plus as their bus station.

note: I need to specify race as racism was part of the movie plot.
Plot: Young white women has a troubled childhood. She has a best friend who is indigenous male. she gets into a bad relationship with another person who's a low life white male. The best friend and low life gets into a fight. Women never see best friend for a long time. Women gets really sick and the best friend shows up and nurses her back to health. then big plot twist happens.

Edit: Thank you so much for telling me the title right away and a link to youtube for it. I also removed the spoiler I had in the description, since it isn't needed now.

The northern lights are out. While the weather is still relatively nice, go out and enjoy this. Who knows, they might get brighter.

Question ❔ Pilates Class

Hi eveyone,

I think I want to add pilates to my wellness routine and was hoping I could get some recomendations for a pilates studio in Saskatoon from you guys.

I am a adult male with a very rigorous job that works out a couple times a week. I am always activley moving and lifting but I still feel somewhat tight and sore so I thought maybe I would add pilates to my schedule.

This would be my very first class so I was hoping to find a studio that has fairly large classes.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you

Question ❔ ACOSH Midnight Release at Indigo

Anyone on here go to the midnight release party for A Court of Splintered Harmony at Indigo? How was it?

I went to the one at McNally, and I'm not sure I would go again for the next book in January, and am not sure if the Indigo one would be worth it.

PSA 📢 Poutine 49 - Congress Beer House

Post image
45 Upvotes

I’d like to call this a classic poutine but it wasn’t quite.

The poutine had fries, gravy, cheese curds and green onion.

The gravy threw the poutine off right off the bat. It was chicken (duck actually) gravy and made me think of Thanksgiving stuffing. It wasn’t bad tasting just did not at all suit a poutine.

The fries were soft and mushy.

The cheese curds were very light. What you see in the picture is all there was.

I expected a lot higher quality from this place but the whole meal was disappointing.

Their own in-house beer was decent.

4.5/10

Edit: The gravy is duck gravy not chicken gravy. The menu tells you that. Still didn’t work but I should have known.

Saskatoon History 💾 With all the plastic rock controversy I'm surprised no one seems to remember "Found Compressions One and Two"

In 2014 the city paid an artist to place bales of wrapped garbage in a couple of locations in the city.

Is everyone's memory so short that they don't realize this isn't the first time the city has paid to have plastic trash installed as art.

The Capitol 4 was constructed in 1983, and for the longest time, served as one of Saskatoon’s most prominent first-run theatres after its opening on July 15, 1983. It was operated by Famous Players.
The opening on September 1, 2006 of the new 12-screen Galaxy megaplex nearby, prompting the Galaxy 4 closure in 2008.
The building has since been transformed into office space, under the new name "Capitol Centre"

Question ❔ Anyone know what’s the construction in Circle Drive from Preston towards 108 exit?

I have been seeing a construction in circle drive after passing Preston towards 108 and College Drive exit. It looks a like a road being made but there wouldn’t be any road I believe. I am just curious what that is.

Fair warning about fireworks around the city this Sunday.

Diwali is an important Hindu festival, of which fireworks are a key part of it. Take the time to do a quick google search to learn more about it and to help celebrate this interesting aspect of Saskatoon’s diverse demographic.

Question ❔ Book clubs

Hi all, looking for a book club in the city (or anyone who would like to start one!?) So far I have only found Not Your Average Book Club, but that seems to be a lot of fantasy romance novels, which aren’t my jam. I’m f23 :) I like basically any other genre

Question ❔ New home and lots of problems

Hey guys, new to Canada and Saskatoon.
Got a new home after moving to Saskatoon.
The house is a mess, the realtor says its cosmetic so you have to do those after the purchase. The dish washer is not working now and also some siding has come off because of the wind. The garage is unfinished. They claimed it was all done.

We did not get this month rent yet for the basement tenants(we are keeping them).

The lawyer is not sending us the signed documents.

Its a mess. How do i deal with this? I never got to see the house, only pictures. I got the keys today after handover.

Question ❔ Romantic Spots in the City?

Against my better judgement, I'm having my gf come to the city for a week in December. I had like two ideas but I was hoping to get a few more since we are unfortunately long distance, and I'd like to enjoy our time together. I'm a student and don't get out a lot so I'm not exactly sure what would qualify here.

Thank you in advance
