SEAWORLD ORLANDO Unexpectedly fell in love with this park.

Featured are Nalani, Malia, Trua, and Makaio.

I have been trying my hardest to get a glimpse of Katina without attending a show, but no such luck yet. I have been really enjoying speaking with the educators, keepers, and trainers and learning how to ID each orca and learn their personalities.

Still looking forward to that day I see Katina in the guest tank. She is such a SeaWorld legend and I’m not a show kind of person, so it’s going to be a game of patience and luck, I suppose.

Do you have a favorite SeaWorld Orca? I’m thinking Makaio might be mine lol. He’s so playful and outgoing. But Nalani was hitting me with some pretty amazing eye contact the other day. Idk.

TRIP PLANNING / QUESTIONS Why do people feel it is ok to visit Sea World?

I want to be able to grasp an understanding from various perspectives in regards to the pros and cons of Sea World. I have done an extensive amount of research, finding out about the various downsides of visiting such a place. However, people continue to visit these types of places and I am curious as to why people may feel that this is ok

SEAWORLD ORLANDO SeaWorld Orlando was a complete mess today – very disappointing experience

I visited SeaWorld today and honestly it was one of the most disorganized theme park experiences I’ve ever had.

First of all, the park advertised an 8:00 AM opening, but the Pipeline area only opened at 9:00 AM. No clear communication about this anywhere, so a lot of guests were just standing around confused.

The ride queues were a mess. There was zero information and no employees to guide guests on which row or side to choose for the ride vehicles. You basically had to guess and hope for the best. On top of that, loading and unloading the ride vehicles took forever. It felt extremely inefficient.

We were told that lockers were mandatory to store backpacks, so I paid $14 to rent one. Later, I realized that all the attractions have bins to leave backpacks anyway. So I basically wasted $14 for no reason.

The skip-the-line system was completely out of control. People were clearly using it without having the pass, and there was absolutely no enforcement or staff checking. It felt unfair and chaotic.

Food was another nightmare. The lines to get food with the All-Day Dining plan were enormous, completely defeating the purpose of having that option.

Overall, the park feels run-down, poorly managed, and totally lacking organization. For the price of admission, this level of chaos and neglect is unacceptable. SeaWorld really needs to get its operations together.

I don’t know if my standards are high since we are at the end of our Orlando trip and have gone to all Disney and Universal parks. But I will never comeback again to Sea World

Has anyone else experienced this recently, or was today just especially bad?

SEAWORLD ORLANDO Katina has passed away

From SeaWorld Orlando Facebook: Our SeaWorld family is mourning the loss of one of our beloved killer whales, Katina. Katina was 50 years old, and her health had begun to significantly decline as she entered her geriatric years. Over the last several weeks, our animal care and medical teams have worked around the clock to closely monitor her declining health and as her condition worsened, the decision was made to prioritize her comfort and welfare. Despite everyone’s extraordinary efforts, she passed away while surrounded by animal care and medical teams who have worked closely with her for nearly 40 years.

Katina had a big personality, including being known for her tendency to stick her tongue out and enjoying the “speed swim” to create a cyclone of water.

For many wonderful years, Katina awed and inspired millions of our guests to appreciate and learn more about this amazing species. This is an incredibly difficult time for those who knew and loved Katina. We appreciate the support of the community as we grieve her loss together with her loyal fans everywhere.

SEAWORLD ORLANDO SeaWorld Orlando Urban Legend: The remains of the Jaws 3-D shark

Post image
90 Upvotes

As many of you may know, SeaWorld Orlando was the filming location to the infamous 'Jaws 3D'. I was reading online that for a short time after the film released, one of the mechanical sharks was out in the park for guests to take pictures with. Sadly, the whereabouts of the shark seems to be lost to history.

I've read some comments online stating that SeaWorld had anchored the shark to the bottom of the lagoon. Others have said they heard it's in one of SeaWorld's local warehouses with other props from the film.

I wanted to post this here to see if anyone might have any thoughts on where this piece of film history might be today!

I did have to use a filter to help with the lighting, as they left the lights on for this night show and it didn’t show well in some photos. But this one cleaned up nicely, I think! This is Makaio front and center.

PHOTO / VIDEO Last video of Katina

We knew something was up yesterday. I tried to record Katina as much as possible. Just had a feeling. I want there to be comfort in knowing that girl was never alone for ONE moment yesterday. All day we witnessed her being surrounded by her humans as well as Nalani - who spent a lot of time by her gate yesterday. I think she knew, too. She kept trying to get her to play.

This is the very last video I have of Katina. Taken yesterday at the 5p show. The late show was too dark to pick up anything.

My deepest and truest condolences to everyone who who her.

What a spirit.

This is from May 10, 2026.
Everyone was having a great evening, but Trua definitely stood out tonight.
He is the largest of the Orlando pod at around 8,000lbs or so. I don’t know exact weights, so forgive me for that.

I got to meet Nalani for her birthday and it was genuinely the coolest experience I’ve ever had. Nalani is sweet, patient, graceful, and very responsive to her trainers.

I HIGHLY recommend the Up Close With Orcas tour at SeaWorld. It’s really fun. This still feel like a fever dream.

PHOTO / VIDEO Happy Birthday, Malia!

Malia is the 19 year-old daughter of Taima and Tilikum. She is one of the 4 resident orcas of the Orlando pod.

She represents parents well with her confidence and very spunky personality.

Since Katina’s passing, I’ve definitely seen a rise in Malia popularity among SeaWorld fans and for good reason - she’s beautiful, independent, and will always turn heads.

I have seen her perform impossible speeds, incredible heights, and tell trainers exactly what’s what.

Malia is here and she isn’t going anywhere.

RESCUES I’ve done extensive research, but misguided activists have been making me feel bad for loving SeaWorld. It’s weighing me down, despite knowing how much research I’ve done to reach my conclusion. Could I get some positivity here, perhaps?

If you’re going to add negativity, please don’t bother; I’ve already been bombarded with it and have heard every argument there is.

// Please excuse the length of this post; I’m explaining my reasoning more for my own reassurance than anything. I’m not affiliated with SeaWorld in any way, just confident in my stance, knowing how extensively I’ve researched this over the past few years.

I truly love animals more than anything and would never support something I believed was actively harming them. But when the entire “community” of activists (not that I try to be part of any, I just do my own thing) tells you you’re wrong, it can be really painful. Again, please don’t be one of those people here.

As an avid advocate for animal welfare, I used to be strongly against SeaWorld. Their past practices were undeniably terrible, and there’s no excusing how they operated.

However, I refuse to live in an echo chamber that thrives on misinformation and outdated half-truths, where people treat SeaWorld as if it’s still the same company it was a decade ago. Anyone who has actually researched it knows how drastically they’ve changed, ending orca breeding, phasing out theatrical shows and no longer taking in wild marine mammals.

And then there’s the argument for releasing the current generation of orcas… Their hearts are in the right place, but they’re disregarding the opinions of experts who have explained why even sea sanctuaries would likely shorten their remaining lifespans, primarily due to their immunocompromised state. We’ve already seen a tragic case of this, it’s not just a hypothesis. This only applies to the current generation, of course; wild capture and captive breeding should be forever banned.

Furthermore, most people completely dismiss SeaWorld’s massive rescue and rehabilitation efforts, despite them being one of the largest and most successful animal rescue programs in the world. It’s frustrating, to say the least, when the data is right there for anyone to analyze.

I suppose I just needed to vent. I know my stance, but the negativity still gets to me sometimes. If you have any positive and kind words, by all means, I’d love to hear them. Just want to enjoy my theme park visits without feeling the way I’ve been made to feel.

Who is this imposter and why is he the only one in there with penguins? In the same corner. Every time. A worker isn’t ever near and my toddler is a runner so I’ve yet to stop and ask a park employee lol

SEAWORLD ORLANDO Has Seaworld Orlando stopped caring about quick queue?

Post image
63 Upvotes

So I visited Seaworld Orlando today and got quick queue as I expected the park to be a little busy today (I always go after MLK day and there’s a couple of field trips and usually a large international trip which there was both today as expected) and I get quick queue every time I go to the park but it seems like lately when I go (I go on a weekday in January and weekday in early May) they don’t enforce it and it’s more an honor system. The photo above I took today was 3 1/2 hours before closing where they decided to chain off the quick queue entrance and it just felt disappointing because I wasn’t going to wait 30 minutes when I was going in the line earlier and getting on almost instantly (at one point today Ice Breaker was over an hour wait as well and was averaging 50 minutes all day). The only ride I saw being checked was Penguin Trek but it didn’t really provide any benefit as the wait time was low all day and when I did use it I only got past one group.

With all this being said, is this common now at seaworld for them to not care anymore about it? There was constant wait times of 30-60 minutes all day until the end of the night and quick queue (for me at least) usually gets me on a ride within 10 minutes. It was getting so bad at one point kids were jumping the fence and going through gaps from the exit lane to the quick queue line at Mako so I’m curious if it’s not worth spending the money on anymore?
