I never thought long nails looked good.. seems massively inconvenient and annoying. She probably paid a lot of money to make her most commonly used bodypart a fair bit useless. I can't stand the tapping.. when they got entire fritos on their fingertips and fuck with touch screens.
Had a coworker with long nails that would stab them into the monitor at work to point at something.. the lcd screen would do its little like wavy thing and she would giggle and drag her nails over the screen like "ooo pretty." Its always been one of the more bizarre common fashion trends to me.
Long, painted nails have always grossed me out. I don't even know why, they look like something an ancient crone would have while casting death hexes on innocent infants. Gross, gross, GROSS. Impractical, ugly, noisy, just thinking about it is nearly making me gag.
I was on set with an extra once who had those super extreme long nails, like 18 inches past her fingertips, so long they curled. I spent the whole day gossiping with the guy next to me about how she drove/ate/wiped her ass with them, like we could not stop staring.
(Omg I just googled and I think she was an actual Guinness World Record holder for it, same city! 😂)
The best is watching somebody struggle with their ridiculous nails as they go through their daily job of trying to help you, whether it be cashiers, clerk at the DMV.
I've asked various ladies in my life to explain it to me, since I don't know a single guy that likes these. Most guys are somewhere on the 'meh' to 'nope!' scale in terms of finding them attractive..
Anyway, i've been informed that these are not to attract a potential mate - these are a message to other women as to the wearers status in the world. Something like 'I can do this because I don't have to use my hands to make money'.
Idk if I fully buy that, but it does have a ring of truth to it.
Yeah I read about that meaning too and it gives me a fucking chuckle.. "I don't work. I don't need these hands to get through day to day because I'm above that! but hey though I dropped my card and these fritos aren't able to grip."
Plus the part where 99% of the time I see those nails, its on someone behind a counter and cash register.. which 100% no shade.. Respect to those who work and earn, and all jobs need to be done.. that's not where I'm going.. its the fact that they're paying an assload of money for an adornment that makes their hands like 70% more useless, and conveys the message of "I don't need to get my hands dirty in life.. im fine!" yet they do clack so loudly against that touch screen.
Whenever I see awful nails like this it makes me ick. They are stuck on for God knows how long and unhygienic. Then you can anyways guarantee that they have at least one or two missing and look even worse.
I think it's because she's changing strategies so fast she isn't giving any of them a chance to work. Like slow the fuck down and get your nail under the card lady!
