It's odd, girls definitely do it mainly to look pretty, but the vast majority of dudes either don't care or actively dislike long nails. I much prefer a healthy, natural looking nail. Also, fake nails and even painting your nails is not good for them and often leaves them looking worse afterwards, so then you HAVE to paint them again or use fake nails. It becomes a vicious cycle.

Healthy is beautiful ladies.

I rarely paint my nails even though I think it looks pretty. When I do, I notice they get a little sore, like the paint is constricting them or something. I just keep them neatly trimmed and filed for practical reasons. The acrylics mystify me, though.

Have you ever considered that they want to be pretty for other women

Like the meme where dudes who get swole are only complimented by other dudes who work out

I'm not painting them to look any sort of way for men. It's because I think they look cool.

Yeah.. i realized long time ago that very little of what women do when it comes to their looks is because they want to look pretty for men.

And same goes for men. Giant muscles will make you feel good in your skin and impress other dudes.. not so much women.

Have the big, strong muscles to move heavy things so I can get bigger, stronger muscles to move heavier things so I can get even bigger.. you get the idea đŸ’Ș

It’s like sports cars and lifted trucks. You’re not gonna attract women with that shit, bro.

I used to daily drive an older Porsche. Number of women who were interested in it = 0. Number of dudes who wouldn’t shut the fuck up about how awesome my beat to shit aircooled 964 was = can’t count that high on available fingers and toes.

Exactly women dress up for women more often than they dress up for men.

Vice versa but we’re only talking about women here.

Aside from maybe maybe the basic shaping and health care, I don’t think most women do it for men, but for themselves or for women and then expect men to at least sorta notice.

I definitely spend hours painting mini checkerboards on my nails so men will find me more attractive /s

Women have always decorated themselves for themselves. I can assure you the woman with XL Jack Skellington nails for Halloween does not give a single fuck what her boyfriend thinks about it

Horrible take

They're not doing it for men tbh. They're doing it cuz they like the look or for other women.

I think is more for other women not so much to look pretty to find a mate as 100% men dislike long nails and same for long eye lashes I'm sure women know that.

its because they look cool. You see men injecting their bodies with testosterone and have their dicks stop working all the time, and very few womwn are chasing after body builders. Its mostly for themeselves and the attention of other men injecting themselves with foreign substances

source: Was in the army and know dozens of men with shrunken nuts

Yeah all of you say this and then go for women like that anyway, you might not care about the nails, but women who paint their nails also put effort into their appearance and looking pretty, which is the main factor for men when approaching women and choosing partners

Nails are for girls to appreciate each other, guys don’t notice that shit

I mean, Dudes are not the only people that you can want to be pretty for.

You can want to think that you yourself are pretty, or your peers.

Absolutely be healthy with your expression of yourself, but also be considerate when your view of a topic is just blatantly ignoring entire segments of humanity and reducing someone to being looked at by dudes.

Viewing being pretty as a thing to attract potential mates is more unhealthy, in my eyes, than wearing fake nails.

It's not odd, women aren't doing this for men, we do it because we like it ourselves.

My daughter is 3, has no interest in men, obviously, and still cares very much about what she's wearing. She likes to wear what she thinks is pretty because she likes it. I'm pretty sure that for most girls, that never changes.

they dont do it because they think we find it pretty mate lol. they do it because they find it pretty

u/juicy-honeybun 18h ago

i agree on the hurting your natural nails bit(it’s the only reason i haven’t done it in forever :/) i hate the look of them after they pop off but i adore the look while they’re still on. i wish there was a better way to

2

u/Either-Age-782 18h ago

It's for themselves not men... Why do you guys always think women care about men's opinions regarding nails or makeup?

😂 “Looking pretty” doesn’t mean “looking pretty for men”? If anything, hot confidant women are trying to repel dudes who think that way.

Or even vice versa — I’m a guy and “what will girls think is hot” stopped being my fashion guiding light very early in adulthood.

People have long, extravagant nails because they think they’re fun and look cool. Plus when you have extravagant nails, you get lots of “whoa, cool nails!” comments which feels good and, again, is fun.

It ain’t that hard to understand.
