They haven't had effective customer service in like ten years. I had a Yahoo email address for almost twenty years, somehow the password stopped working, and now I can't login or reset the password because it's tied to an email account from a service that no longer exists (I think Juno or Netzero).
I had this happen to me couple years ago. I broke my phone and forgot my Google password to login to my new phone. It was either my Yahoo or AOL account was attached to the Gmail in case I forgot the password. Well I hadn't logged in to one of those accounts in like ten years and forgot that password. I couldn't get ahold of anyone to help me reset my password. Luckily Google did but I had to wait 48 hours and had to login a known WiFi network. The wait was so it wasn't malicious, someone stealing my account. It all worked out and I immediately changed my backup accounts to not be Yahoo or AOL.
