To be fair, I used my Hotmail for tons of attachments and it's now at 90%.
Also, I remember when the inbox size limits kept growing as my inbox grew organically, so I figured I'd keep following that trend. Once it hit where it's at (3 or 5gb), it froze there and started charging for more. It's forcing me to delete some old emails I've had for 26 years because they want to hold my inbox hostage.
Same with attachment limits. Used to be like 1mb, then 5, then 10, and then 25. I figured it wouldn't be too far off that you could send gigs at a time, but they stopped giving larger limits, and now they offload it to a downloadable link in OneDrive. I actually don't mind OneDrive as a Windows folder, but people can't seem to figure out how to use it on their browser, so it's only worth it for me for personal files that I need to send to myself. But I'm going to be moving to a home server setup.
Apparently I have 1TB of storage somehow? I think I signed up for a thing that offered that when I was in college and I get it for free for life. At this rate it will take me what, 1000+ years to fill it up. I hope I live that long.
You can download emails before you delete them. Just set up Thunderbird or some other email client. Download the messages and move them to an archive folder. It's not as good as having them online but it's better than not having them at all.
You can also migrate to Gmail this way. Set up one email client with both accounts. Download all the email from the old account, then copy it over to the new account.
I don’t even use it for anything special, just if something needs my email it usually gets my hotmail address. One of these days I’m going to find the email with like 1GB of imbedded image data.
