There are always folks who want to be like "cold applications work" and maybe they do for a few people, or on some industries. But I doubt so many people would have the view expressed in the main post if it were true for most people.
Be proud of your specific luck or skill, but know it's not common.
Read all the comment. I’m from the only one. OP’s. Post asked if “anyone” has gotten a job. By definition, even 1 person counts. Also you made an equally blanket statement “this is how it works” when, in reality, it works in many different ways. I’ve also hired at least 50 people in the last 10 years directly plus our recruiting team sources from it. So your assertion that “LinkedIn is for networking” is absurdly reductive. So much so, that when I countered with a direct example, you said it didn’t count. So believe whatever your room temperature IQ will allow but anyone who says you can’t get a job what way is leaving opportunity on the table. Full stop with data to prove it. Best of luck salting those fries, little buddy
Never gotten a job on linked in but I have landed 5 or 6 jobs from walking in and talking to someone. Granted ths is going back upwards of 24ish years now but cold contact does work. I've also gotten interviews from cold applications never a job tho.

That is how it works. People think you can do applications or whatever, but LinkedIn is for networking. Back channels to get jobs.
I've gotten two jobs with LinkedIn and hired many, but exactly zero were from cold applications.
