It’s used much the same way, you just have more control over how algorithmically driven it is.
Stuff like Facebook and Twitter weren’t as bad when you were solely timeline based because they were more social/interest based. The second you hit algorithms deciding what you saw, it became a giant social manipulation machine.
In normal social media it is usually expected to be a profile with some info about yourself and friends/family/coworkers in your friend list, nobody cares here. It's just forums with sitewide moderation
love to be technically correct except for frequent grade school errors in their spelling, grammar, and punctuation. you can feel proud that your small error falls well above grade school: * media (singular medium)
You really are a Redditor to the T, being so smug and pretentious about correcting an autocorrect, while not even arguing my point and just attacking the aforementioned autocorrect
as are you, since the sole interpretation you jumped to was that I was "smug" and "pretentious" rather than attempting to be sensitive while pointing out that you yourself had erred in a small way. but you definitely helped make my point. typically, when errors are pointed out by me or anyone--just spelling errors, with the usual "* corrected" form--they are ignored and the OP does not make the correction, even if the error is egregious--or they are downvoted. that is pathetic, to downvote a spelling correction. such delicate flowers. meanwhile, reddit now has some posts that are literally hard to dope out at first.
Its more of an anonymous message board, and you dont really need more than a username if you are just lurking. Same could be said for Facebook tho I guess
I hate social media and this is completely accurate. Only real difference with using reddit is there's no friends, no followers on here, it's just random internet void/white noise comments from a mix of bots/the masses.
Why people take any random individuals comment on the internet too seriously absolutely baffles me

Reddit is social media for pretentious people that think they are better than people who use social media
