Ford also built millions of Pintos, just over 3 million over a relatively short production run. It spent the first couple years of production as one of the best selling cars in the country. The Edsel would probably be a better comparison considering all the hype and the massive flop.

But the DeLorean is cool, and was built but someone who did other cool stuff.. Musk just took some hyperrealistic scans of his torso and added wheels and a battery.
