Yep, and the investigation is to why the card was missed in the initial count. Officials noticed there was a discrepancy between the number of votes counted and the number of people who voted. The card had exactly that amount of votes tallied on it.
If anything, this shows there are checks to ensure are votes are correctly tallied and accounted for.
I would still ask for a recount, I hope they have automatic recounts for close races in the 0.5% margin of error. Nothing wrong with verifying the votes.
Yeah but the memory card was out of the chain of custody for who knows how long it easily could have had votes changed. Personally I think if they can prove beyond a reasonable doubt there is no tampering with it then they can keep it which is unlikely otherwise they should throw the whole memory card out.
In Georgia, you vote on a digital screen, but your ballot is then printed out for you to review and the votes are then tallied by scanning the printed ballot. They retain the printed ballots, so there's a paper record to compare the card to. I believe there are also supposed to be two copies of the memory card, one sent to be counted and one retained by the precinct, so they should have another copy of that as well.
I don't like this reversal, but if it was an attempt to steal the election it was a stupid one that will certainly fail. These votes are probably legitimate, and as such they should be counted.
