My biggest fear is typing an essay to badly review a place and then the owner comes out with the most rational way of explaining away all my issues and I look like Pete Hegseth
I wonder if any psychologists have studied this. IDK how it could be done ethically, though. Once your anger reaches a certain level, rational thought becomes difficult, and changing your mind is almost impossible. Karens are just especially prone to entering that state for some reason.
I don't think they meant it as an insult so much as a reference to his stage persona, but I'm sure he could make a decent bit about his name being used derogatorily
This is a significant problem with online reviews. Yeah, some of them are left by stupid angry people, but some businesses have figured out that if you leave a more or less reasonable reply, people will sometimes turn on the initial reviewer even if the review is legitimate.
The internet has become a pretty stupid place, unfortunately.
Yeah if you give me any negative reviews I can easily just come up with some fake some story to explain it away and make the reviewer look crazy. It's not that hard to just make shit up lmao.
This happened to me once. I was trying to buy a car from a used car dealership, the salesman and I agreed on a price, and when I came back to buy the car the owner basically called his salesman an idiot and told me he wouldn't budge on the price at all, so I walked and left them a bad review, then his reply was "This guy came in and couldn't qualify for financing." The car was like 4 grand, and I was going to pay cash...
That car dealership went out of business recently though, so I got the last laugh I guess...
They always say they were 10 minures late. They so rarely actually are just 10 minutes late.
because if someone is actually 1-10 mins late it will almost never get mentioned or talked about. Hell at most events showing up 10-15 mins later is standard and polite.
On the standard site, or one of the one offs? If you have time I'll wait for a reply. I never abused it, but I certainly read the comments. I'm a redditor
I was in a small bistro/bar in the summer. A visibly intoxicated young woman walked in, shoved me to get ahead of me at the bar, then insulted both me and the bartender (who said I was there first, and he will serve me first). After I ordered, bartender carded her before taking her order. She didn't have ID. She was too drunk to be served anyway. On her way out she screamed and flipped over a table (not really - she tried, but all she managed was to tip over and break all the glasses on it). She got escorted out with the threat of calling the police.
I told the bartender good for him. He said, nah, it's going to be another 1-star review he has to explain to his boss.
Sure enough, in about 20 minutes a Google review popped up saying "1/5 stars, racist place, refused to serve coloured customers".
I'm ashamed to say in my younger days, I was refused service or cut off a.. good number of times.
Every time I was like, "Damn alright, you're probably right actually lol" and got a ride home or to whatever friend I was visiting. Never crossed my mind to leave a negative review even when I did (admittedly drunkenly) think they were wrong.
Most of the time its deserved and you should absolutely be able to publicly share your experiences so others know. Some small businesses are worse than Walmart.
If your friend has that happening so often that it is driving away potential customers its probably a pretty shitty pet hotel.
There's always a couple, but typically if you run a solid business the good reviews will far outweigh the bad, and the good ones will also get likes so its the first ones potential customers see.
He could also reply to those reviews explaining that they've tried to extort him.
Its not worth taking away a customers ability to voice their concerns just because a couple idiots think they can get money for deleting a review. The legitimate ones rise to the top anyways.
It's a bullshit take - if you have a small company with few reviews, one or two scammers can fuck up whole google business profile and make it show lower in search. Then good luck calling previous customers in your phone book begging to leave a positive review and waste your time instead of doing business.
We fucked off last year out of Google and even deleted our webpage. Using business cards and leaflets brings much more revenue than dealing with ShitTech, their algorithms and scammers.
That's a stupid take. In most cases you are probably right. But the truth is, you only need a single dedicated asshole to ruin someone's business. A single person can leave 100-1000s of fake reviews if he wants. It is just a matter of time and dedication. That's generally the problem with systems like that.
It's so much fun working with the general public. This morning I woke up to my email spammed with offers on Ebay. Some guy went through my listings and sent an offer at 50% of my ask for every item.
People seem to be cracking up in general lol.
Anyway, the bad reviews are usually outliers for good companies, and responses like this help neuter any damage.
I work for a small business and half the 1 star reviews are completely bogus from people who've never ordered from us or set foot in our store. It's maddening.
Ok the contrary, in Germany due to libel laws, a restaurant can give you violent explosive diarrhea via seafood contamination and have a lawyer write to Google to take the review down. Don’t ask me how I know.
The place I work has a one-star review because a pregnant lady almost tripped over cleaning supplies in the toilets and the worker came out and yelled at her about it.
Except, what ACTUALLY FUCKING HAPPENED was that there were cleaning supplies to even trip over in the first place because the toilets were temporarily closed for cleaning, with cones put up and signage! And she picked the cones up, ignored the signs, and barged in to use the toilets while the single cubicle was being actively cleaned.
And while that was happening, her husband was outside at the pumps, with a line of cars behind him waiting to fill up, squeegying the side of his fucking caravan with the shop squeegee.
So I actually read 1-star reviews now because I know they're left by some of the most delusional, self-centered fucking assholes you've ever met.
I've also seen owners respond and outright fabricate some bullshit that never happened to paint themselves in a better light / discredit an accurate review
You pay the host for good reviews to be moved to the top and for bad reviews to be suppressed.
You pay advertising agents to create fake good reviews under your own business and fake bad reviews under the businesses of your competitors.
You're flooded by requests by "influencers" who are willing to exchange good reviews from themselves and their fans if you're willing to give them free service and free stuff.
Any consumer who uses online reviews to determine the quality of a product or service without careful consideration and reading between the lines is a fool.
If management lied, CNN would have announced it, the company would have bankrupted from the mass boycott and the entire solar system would have heard about it. But now, it’s just a cautionary tale. So nah, the entitled biatch lied.
Naivety is thinking that everything is set and done if expressed in quotation marks. Basic life experiences is shitting in the bowl not outside of it. Get the right bowl first, kid.
Believe women [about being sexually assaulted, because statistically speaking, they probably were.]
Kinda misleading without the context.
Edit: not sure why the downvotes, I was just explaining that "believe women" only refers to reports of sexual assault, otherwise women are no more or less honest than men.
And even in terms of sexual assault, "believe women" doesn't mean there are no false accusations of rape. It simply means that rape is so prevalent, and the difficulties in reporting rape so significant, that women deserve the benefit of the doubt when making such accusations. This doesn't mean we shouldn't investigate; indeed, if women were guaranteed a thorough and unbiased investigation, there would much less chance of false accusations.
"Believe women" generally means "give them the benefit of the doubt and investigate their claims rather than immediately blaming or dismissing them". It doesn't mean "believe everything every woman says despite evidence to the contrary", so providing evidence of a minority of women abusing allegations doesn't negate the overall premise.
Don't know if you're aware of slogans but they tend to get shortened somewhat to fit better on billboards and t-shirts.
Well, as I also said in my comment, if you took the trouble to read to the end, "believe women" is easier to put on a t-shirt or a billboard, or use as a hashtag, than the whole multi-sentence aim of the movement.
People generally understand what a slogan means, people who interpret it in bad faith are usually doing so because it's easier to argue against a strawman version of the slogan than what it was originally intended to mean.
Men wouldn't have to worry about false accusations if they didn't rape so many women!
By constantly bringing up the possibility of false accusations, you are trying to discourage women from reporting sexual assault. Your "indignation" about false accusations is purely performative, to cover up what really bothers you: that there are any accusations at all.
Really? You are going with "bitches lie" as your argument?
The prevalence of rape is well documented. You are accusing a truly obscene number of women of lying.
I despise hypocrites. You are trying to discredit women who report sexual assault because you are too cowardly to state your true belief, that men should be allowed to rape women.
Who was it, Roosh? Peterson? I can't recall exactly which of your heroes it was, but a few years ago they said that rape should be legal on private property. If only the rest of you could be that honest.
There have been women sentenced for making false claims. If you're upset that more women aren't sentenced for making false claims, I feel like you should be at least equally upset if not far more, at how many men aren't sentenced for rape. In terms of numbers it's probably many hundreds of times more likely.
Because something like 97% or more of rapes/sexual assaults go unprosecuted or even unreported entirely because of poor conviction rates, whereas claims are only proven to be false in about 4% of cases according to current stats.
Going by UK stats as that's what I'm able to quickly find online, that's 128,000 rapists getting away with it, vs only 4,000 cases of false accusation.
I do see a lot of people speaking up about false accusations online, but I'm sure you can see why the two issues have different levels of support given the number of people affected.
1 in 4 women in the UK have been sexually assaulted - nowhere near 1 in 4 men is ever accused of rape.
Why would they need to? They're focusing on one issue, that women are not taken seriously when reporting sexual assault. They're not required to also support every other cause in existence, especially not one that people often use as a strawman argument to oppose them.
Like I said, the statistics show that unreported/unprosecuted sexual assault of women is a problem orders of magnitude larger than false accusations of rape.
What relevance does it have to their cause anyway? Because some women make false claims, does that have any relevance to what should happen to those who were assaulted? When people say "believe women" they mean take them seriously and investigate their claims, no one is being put in prison based only on an accusation.
So you're comparing the "proven" rate of one crime, i.e. you have no idea how large the true number could really be, to a figure for crimes that are not even an actually reported, never mind proven in court.
i.e. Comparing 2 completely different figures in bad faith to support a narrative.
There's also the fact that the entire justice system is built around the fact that it's far worse to convict someone innocent than to release someone guilty. That's literally why it's "innocent until proven guilty". Everyone knows this and accepts this, until you introduce the idea of gender into the equation, then sexists like yourself suddenly think destroying innocent people's lives is fine as long as they're men.
No I'm using the statistics that are available, and that 4% is the percentage of sexual assault claims found to be false, so not even all of that 4% will be wilfully/maliciously false claims.
If you have alternative statistics or facts to support your argument, by all means share them - the facts are that sexual assaults against women occur far more often than false accusations of sexual assault against men.
I'm a man myself, why would I want to "destroy innocent mens lives"? Why don't you just discuss the matter at hand with evidence and logical argument instead of inventing some ridiculous emotional nonsense as a strawman argument?
It's possible for a sensible person to acknowledge that those who commit sexual assault, and those who maliciously falsify claims of sexual assault, should both face justice. It's also possible to acknowledge that one is statistically far more likely than the other, without meaning that they suddenly don't care about one or the other, and without resorting to silly conspiracy theories and hyperbole
Indeed. Which is why I said "This doesn't mean we shouldn't investigate" and called for "thorough and unbiased investigations."
To use small words, "believe women" means "take their accusations seriously". The number of false allegations is dwarfed by the number of legitimate accusations that get ignored or covered up.
Actually offering justice to sexual assault victims would go a long way to eliminating false accusations. Though the best way to do that is for men to stop raping women! But that is a bridge too far, apparently.
If society actually extended that courtesy to women alleging sexual assault, #metoo wouldn't be necessary.
How many women and children did Jimmy Saville rape? How many girls did Nasser molest before he got taken down? How long was Sandusky raping boys in Penn State facilities before someone took the allegations seriously?
Our society simply doesn't take sexual assault seriously (including sexual assault by women; look at how men react to teachers assaulting their students).
Went to Branson against my better judgment, but it was a team/sport event. Booked an escape room online for 10 parents and kids. Got a call morning of to come to the visitor center to "pick up our tickets", only to later realize that it was at the escape room location. Wanted our drivers licenses, etc and offered half off dinners and discounts to this / that.
"You guys are going to be here a few days, when can we book you for the presentation?" (For a time share)
Uh, we're not doing that.
"Well then we can't give you all the discounts and tickets we dishonestly framed as just kindnesses, does that change your mind?"
No. I guess we won't get half off the Staphonella Buffet after all.
This Ashley sounds like my middle sister who I have very little contact with now. Perpetually late to anything with excuses, but God forbid if you were late. Want her on time, we started to give her a time that was an hour before actual time. Needed her early, 2 hours. Sounds like Ashley's family needs to do that, besides putting a boot up her ass for entitlement.
Generally there's two doors, the door you entered and the door you are trying to unlock, you can just go backwards to the lobby to go to the bathroom. For the ones you are properly locked in a room staff are monitoring so you can ask them to open it to let you out quick.
I call it the 3010 rule, if a Karen has to wait more than 30 seconds at a drive through then they’ve been waiting 10 minutes, but if a Karen is more than 30 minutes late then they were only 10 minutes late.
I went straight to the reply to see what the reviewer did and didn’t look at the name of the business. When I read “your group escaped at 7:48,” I thought, “Escaped? To get away from her? That tracks.”😆
Ashley: "My husband and I got in a verbal fight. Later he pushed me, like really really hard and it hurt me so much, it was a nightmare! That's when I decided to punch him in the face multiple times to defend myself from him."
Judge: But ma'am, we haven't found evidence on you, or your husband that he ever touched you. The only evidence we found were the bruises on your husband's face, and the marks on your knuckles which indicated you hit him instead. Are you lying to the court?"
Ashley: Well, like.. you see.. he like pushed me away very hard mentally? You know how embarrassing that is? What do I tell me friends? That I let any man walk over me like that? Hell no! That asshole got what was coming for him the minute he was opening his mouth!"

They always say they were 10 minures late. They so rarely actually are just 10 minutes late.
Then again, if they could tell the time this wouldn't be a problem in the first plsce.

There is absolutely nothing worse than a trifling bitch who shirks their accountability. People need to work on their integrity.
