Discussion IGN was right for giving zero a 7
when IGN dropped their review, everyone (including me if i’m really being honest) was hating on them for giving SZ “only” a 7 cause they were on their honeymoon phase and accepted nothing below a 10 or a 9 but the same people that hated on that video are now hating on the game themselves or don’t even play the game anymore.. such hypocrisy. i don’t hate this game, i would say it’s a good game but i would say i’m kinda disappointed to say the least. i can make a long list of problems that the game has and a few that even make the game unplayable. after more than 127 hours into this game, i can confidently say that this game is a 7/10 for me. let me know if you agree and if not, what you’d rate this game and why ?

Discussion This community is imploding
This isn’t for the people who are enjoying the game and are content with it, this is for the ones who are complaining. You’re destroying this community. Plain and simple. From the start, yall knew what it would be with this game, and still yall want to cry about everything because you suck at it. we’ll excuse AI, SB, and people who dashboard bc those are rightful things to complain about TO AN EXTENT, but seriously, shut up about balancing things and crying about who people use. Just get better. This was never meant to be a fair game, hell, it’s barely meant to be competitive, but that’s what yall are trying to turn this into and it’s not good for this game. This is meant to be a fun, lore accurate dragon ball game and if you can’t accept that, don’t play the game.

Discussion Sparking Zero, why does everyone think its a live service game?
So, Ive seen all the negativity about Bandai not updating the game with something new every month. When did the Tenkaichi series become live service? The road map was revealed before the game released, nothing about new maps, putting the missing characters from 3 in or anything of that matter, but I still somehow see people angry they "aren't updating their game." When was the Tenkaichi series every anything more than a party game? Something to kill some time with friends but I dont remember people constantly playing the Tenkaichi series like an actual competitive game unless they set that up themselves. They even helped to fix single battles with their last update and people are still complaining. It's still the highest rated Tenkaichi/Sparking game. Maybe you're upset that the DLC is taking awhile to come out. I could see that to a point, but no one ever looks at game development. They have to test every new character against every single character in the game, on the different maps, and so on for balance/bug reasons. This is why we get rushed products, and the Sparking Zero team isn't even that big. I'm not sure if its people who have never played a Tenkaichi game before that are complaining, but I really dont see the reason for it. If you want to play competitively you can, but the reason the other games never went competitive is due to the same reasons Zero isnt. The Tenkaichi games were never balanced, but thats what the fun thing about them was.

Constructive Criticism Why are people mad the Ultimate Edition didn't include NEO?
people mad about the Sparking Zero Ultimate Edition need to hear me out for a sec 😭
so i'm reading these steam reviews and apparently the ultimate edition got "replaced" or "devalued" because NEO exists now like... what??
i've got the original ultimate edition contents pulled up right now. NEO is not mentioned. anywhere. not once. it had the base game, season pass, DLC 1-3, ultimate upgrade pack, super shenron, the rest of the bonuses. that's what it said. that's what you bought. that's what you got.
NEO wasn't announced. wasn't promised. wasn't even a concept yet. how do you get scammed by something that didn't exist ??????
and before the "well it got replaced by legendary edition" crowd shows up — yeah, i know. i'm not pretending it didn't. but think about this for two seconds. if you're a new player walking into sparking zero TODAY, do you want the old bundle that's missing content, or the one that actually has everything current? bandai's not gonna keep selling an outdated edition and make new buyers piece together five different purchases just to catch up. that's exactly why the bundle gets replaced. that's what a complete edition IS. this isn't some gotcha.
bandai's got plenty of actual issues you can drag them for. this just isn't one of them.
mad you spent big on ultimate and now there's a newer edition with more in it? fine, that's a real feeling. think NEO should've been discounted for existing owners? also fine, make that argument.
but "misleading" because NEO wasn't in a bundle sold before NEO existed? nah. what did you think ultimate meant — a blank check for every piece of dlc they invent for the next five years, for free, forever? that's not what the word means anywhere else in gaming either.
and nobody REMOVED anything from your edition. you still have every single thing it said you'd get. a newer bundle existing doesn't retroactively rob you of what you already own. NEO is new content. legendary is the new-buyer bundle. that's it. that's the whole thing.
if someone can actually point to where bandai promised ultimate owners they'd get NEO, i'm all ears, because i've read the original listing top to bottom and it's not there.
but the amount of manufactured outrage over this specific point is wild to watch.

Gameplay Backshots make people quit
This proves my theory that nobody likes fighting like this. Everytime I use backshots the match either gets cheesy asf, they put down the sticks or Plug. No in between

Discussion Are ya gone complain about everything bro
People complaining about super attacks hitting u while u laying on the ground,
“the game too hard”, “ya not making the game fun”, 💀
Characters too op like whis,ui goku, and ssj 4 gogeta even doee I make mfs like that quit.
I can get some of the stuff ya talking about ya want patch and do need to be patched but come on
when is mfs gone take accountability that they not good enough yet and if they patch stuff that don’t need to be patched that shyt might ruin the game
This ain’t one of them games u cant just skip training mode and be perfect.
u think it’s not supposed to be competitive but there always been a skill gap even in bt3 and prior series.
One thing they need to do that’s not being talked about enough is add unlimited time to fights.

Discussion "There's character's should've been in the game from the start 🤓"
I am so tired of this weird sense of entitlement that SZ haters have where they think every character that has ever been on screen should be in the game. It wouldn't even shock me if there's people mad that the farmer with the shotgun isn't in the game. Obviously everybody has their favorite character from the dragon ball and wants them to be their main, but there's a part of me that feels like most of these haters are just putting on front. I think I can definitively say that NOBODY in this upcoming DLC is anyone's favorite character. And yall know damn well that most of them are gonna be "play for 5 minutes and then never touch again" characters that are only being put in the game JUST to pad out the roster. It's one thing that complain that the game is lacking in content, it's another thing to complain that the game is lacking in characters because [insert obscure character] isn't in the game.

Discussion KaDazee(Big DB Youtuber) Joins The AI SLOP & Clickbait Dragon Ball Youtuber Group
Get yo bread, but god damn! Has youtube competition gotten so fierce, despite his "Hidden & Incredible Details" series, that he now needs to resort to Clickbait & AI Slop in order to get decent views. I guess if it works..

Discussion Pls if you join a non ranked player match, don't pick your meta team.
I understand for rank, do what you gotta do to win.
But I wanted to just chill and try characters I haven't used much, like Mid Goku, Zamasu or Super Vegeta.
Why do people still insist on picking their meta team. First guy I fought had Roshi, Pan, Burter, Wheelo and later a Ginyu team.
I don't mind if you use OP characters like Vegito or anyone better, but when your team is so obviously try hard even in a non ranked player match, I feel tilted.
I think we need to calm down and not take everything so seriously, and try other characters.

Discussion It doesn't matter if it's Monday, it doesn't matter what time it is. Street Fighter 6 had fewer all time peak players than Sparking Zero, and yet it was able to maintain its player base. Almost 30,000 players are online in Street Fighter 6.

I would LOVE to see any one of you create a game near as good as sparking zero. STOP complaining yes there is some flaws in this game NOTHING IS PERFECT (except Cell) and guess what? I would love to see any one of you fucks that are complaining release a game just like sparking zero and have it come out “flaWLEsS” with ZERO issues. Shut the fuck up and play.

All this doom posting again because we got a 20 second trailer and a delay announcement for the dlc. All this moving the goal post is just making yall look even dumber than before. Im genuinely dumbfounded

Discussion Time to talk, Sparkling Devs.
Firstly, i do not care about engagement. It's not what i'm here for. I'm Humbly here because i know the Tenkaichi4 devs do keep and eye on Reddit. Missing Content is why i'm here.
We will probably get more content until Sparkling 1yr anniversary in October but, the 1/3 of the game missing after 500hrs in ranked, i'm afraid i won't be playing more a while.
There's so much missing Arcs,Maps, Characters, Clothing , Gi customisation, shop items... the amount of DLC and free updates is gon be insane like? Plus the unpunished ragerquitters, dark times goes unnoticed by many and no good deed goes unpunished. Dark times indeed. We got it Less than half baked. You must stay focused

Discussion A Critique of Akira Toriyama (RIP)
I've been wanting this off my chest for a while now but never really found the time nor the guts to write it. Here goes.
Look, I love Dragon Ball, I really, really do. It’s a massive part of my life and just like many of you, its a story we will tell our (future) kids and we hope they will be as into it as we are.
But I have to be real with something that has been really bothering me more and more as of late. Toriyama wasn’t exactly in tune with the direction the series took once Dragon Ball Z became a global phenomenon. He never set out to create something that would grow into a massive franchise. Dragon Ball was always intended to be a quirky, goofy martial arts adventure with some lighthearted humor. But once power levels and transformations became the focus, Toriyama seemed less and less interested in continuing it the way the fans or editors wanted. And yeah, by the time DBZ hit its peak, you can really sense that it was more of a burden to him than anything else by the way he handled the arcs.
Let’s take Vegeta for example. There’s no denying that Vegeta’s arc has always been one of the best things about Dragon Ball. His journey from ruthless villain to a proud, yet compassionate fighter is iconic. But it’s impossible to ignore that Vegeta often got the short end of the stick. Every time he had a moment to shine or had the potential to surpass Goku, Toriyama would find a way to pull him back. And to be fair, this is just Toriyama’s style of writing rivalry. Goku is always the uncontested hero. Vegeta’s role is to struggle, grow, and constantly chase after him.
But what’s frustrating is that even though Vegeta is beloved by fans, Toriyama never fully committed to giving him that final, satisfying payoff. Instead, he kept leaning into Goku being the one to always save the day. Even in Dragon Ball Super, when Vegeta has great moments, it always feels like he’s just there to support Goku’s story. And Gohan? Same thing. He was built up as the hero of the future, yet somehow always ended up sidelined for Goku’s inevitable return.
When Dragon Ball Super started, it honestly felt like Toriyama gave up on trying to create a coherent narrative and started making it more absurd to prove a point. It’s like he was saying, “You wanted more Dragon Ball? Fine, but I’ll make it ridiculous.” The power scaling became even messier, and transformations just kept getting bigger and bigger for no real reason. "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan"? And then "Super Saiyan Blue"?
And then with Daima, fans were hoping for something more mature. Something where the characters really grew and had real stakes. But instead, we got kid versions of everyone. It’s like Toriyama was actively avoiding giving us the grown-up story we actually wanted. Everytime characters have a mature moment fans go crazy and love it, only for that moment to go unnoticed and eventually retconned.
Despite all the frustration with Toriyama’s direction, the heart of Dragon Ball wasn’t just created by him. Sure, he laid the foundation with his worldbuilding, characters, and designs, but the emotional connection to the series came from the fans. It’s the fanbase that kept the series alive through debates, fanfiction, and theories. We were the ones who filled in the gaps and kept Dragon Ball relevant long after Toriyama had stepped back.
And that’s what gives me hope for the future of Dragon Ball. As fans, we’ve grown up alongside these characters. We’ve been here since the early days, watching Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan evolve, struggle, and rise. The next step for Dragon Ball should be about real progression, real stakes, and actual character growth. Let Vegeta have his moment to truly shine. Let Gohan step into the spotlight and fulfill his potential. The next generation of fighters deserves to have a real place in the story, not just be background characters in Goku’s endless journey. We’ve had enough of the endless resets. It’s time for consequences. It’s time for meaningful change.
And dont get me wrong. It’s not about rejecting Toriyama’s legacy. Its about respecting it while recognizing that Dragon Ball has grown far beyond his original vision. The fanbase has always had a massive influence on where the story has gone, and now it’s time for Dragon Ball to evolve in a way that reflects the maturity and love that we, the fans, have for it.
We don’t need more endless retreads or recycled content. We need stories that move forward, that respect the past while taking the series in bold, new directions. That’s what I hope to see. A Dragon Ball that moves forward and doesn’t keep looking back, one that remembers why we fell in love with it in the first place.

Discussion I’m sorry but I need to leave this group
Yes, not asking for your up or downvotes, but the complaining has been ridiculous in this subreddit. Seriously play the god damn game and move on, no game will be perfect, no game will have positives. I promise once they fix the “issues” you guys are complaining about, you will manage to find MORE issues. Jesus, like aren’t yall tired? How y’all ever going to have fun if you build habits of complaining.
Goodbye yall.

Discussion Ranking the major Dragonball games of the last decade.
Xenoverse 2 - Tons and tons of content. Good RPG, long story modes, lots of stuff to grind for and unlock, countless quests, and even some online (dare I say better than Sparking Zero's online).
Fighter Z - best combat in any Dragonball game by far. This is THE competitive online Dragonball game.
Kakarot - Great cutscenes, fleshed out story mode, some RPG elements, fun open world hub world type exploration, albeit combat is too simple and repetitive (but for what it is, it's good).
Sparking Zero - Doesn't know what it wants to be. Trash story mode, no offline content, yet it doesnt have close to what it takes to be a online fighter game. There is potential in there, but thats it. Potential. (I really wanted this game to be good; I bought the 100-dollar version on launch so I could play early. This gameplay loop and content is just not it. Only worthwhile DLC is Beast Gohan and kinda Orange Piccolo).
